  1. ^^Are you sure they weren't in the process of hoisting it back up to the MCB? They could have even stopped for a break and just had the train strapped in that position. On the webcam this morning, it looked as if the train was indeed at the bottom of the drop and not where it is at in that picture.
  2. Unless Cedar Point were to purchase a custom with a larger capacity. At least 200 or 300 more an hour would be decent and doesn't sound unattainable. My guess was more less a joke but it's something I wont write off just yet. A Zacspin would fit perfect in the former DD site, not to mention they kept the old DD electrical building which I am guessing will be used for whatever else they add to that site. As for a Top Spin, I don't see that. As Force just said aren't they plagued with problems? Has there even been a Top Spin addition to a park in the past couple years?
  3. Well there will be a new ride next year. I'm calling it now, Intamin Zacspin where Demon Drop was http://www.sanduskyregister.com/articles/2010/05/16/front/2054709.txt
  4. The mentioning of 4 boats had to be a typo on the Registers part, that newspaper (if you can call it that) can't get anything right. The park does indeed have 10 boats and they are on property, or at least they were last month when I saw them.
  5. Head over to Pointbuzz and you will see a different story. Its good for a laugh if you are having a bad day.
  6. No it wont. It will depend on if the ride is open, which it wont be... http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/fun/blog/2010/5/10/Shoot_the_Rapids_Update.cfm
  7. Same here, only I worked there ten years. M&S week aside , it is never that busy that you can't get all of the coasters and doing so without having to rush around. One of the best things about going when there are a lot of schools there is that they generally leave early. Most start to clear out between 5 and 6 to head back to their bus. While the park might be full of kids and teenagers, that does not mean the queues will be.
  8. I can't imagine it would require more than a weeks worth of full course testing. The majority of the testing probably happens with the lift hills. This could be why on the webcams you saw them moving the boats up and down them. That would be faster than sending a boat around and waiting for it to come back to the lift. I will say though that aside from the two boats you see, the others are still sitting in storage.
  9. It's never too late. They basically hire all summer long.
  10. Sandusky Register has some great behind the scenes pictures of Shoot the Rapids over here. There is another link at the bottom with even more pictures and in my opinion, better pictures than what we have seen on Cedar Point.com lately. FYI, the interview in the video is horrible. You have been warned.
  11. Most can be found in Fear Faire dressed as merchant carts in the "village area". Another can be found in CornStalkers. Here is a shot of one in Fear Faire and here is the one in CornStalkers.
  12. In 2000 they introduced "Ticket to Ride". This was in late June, around the 20th I believe. It was only used for Millennium Force at this time. Some say it was used because of how long of a line Millennium Force had throughout the summer, and then that is where the idea for the next system came from. Now the next system was called "Freeway" which utilized hand stamps as Robb's picture shows. It was a pretty ghetto system but it actually worked well the first year. You simply walked up to a kiosk next to or close to a ride entrance. I believe the first year it was only Millennium Force and Wicked Twister. You got a stamp for a certain time and then you were good to go. Once word got out about the system, it was harder to get a stamp because people would then line up for the stamp before they were given out. The only good/bad thing about it was they only gave out a certain amount of stamps for the day for each ride. So once they were all gone, no more. If you were standing in the back of the line to get a stamp, there was a good chance you would be out of luck by the time you got up to the kiosk. Here is one of the kiosks that would be located near the entrance of the ride. Eventually Raptor, Top Thrill Dragster and Magnum were added to Freeway before the system finally ended in late 2005. Like Steve said, the queue that they added for Fastpass is still at each ride so it would not be much work to add a new system like Low-Q. Even the kiosks are still in use as Halloweekends props.
  13. ^Ha...that is a great movie!
  14. They probably started filming all of these shows last year, early 2009. I wouldn't be surprised if some were even filmed at the tail end of 2008. If you think about how many shows can be filmed over the course of a year, they could have enough episodes to last until 20012 (depending on how many they air this year & next). Filming could have been going on all the way up until, well right about now really. So I am guessing that they have enough episodes in the bank to keep it going for awhile. Aside from that, I can see them getting creative with ways to hid the CEO in the future. I am sure it is something they thought about way before the first episode aired.
  15. Same here in Ohio. Slow news day I guess (everywhere?) because a situation like this should not be national coverage unless there is actual harm done to a guest. Why was the power outage at my park this past summer not covered by CNN? It stranded riders at the top of our Giant Wheel for nearly TWENTY MINUTES!!!111!! *rolls eyes*
  16. I understand its different for each state and while DoA in Ohio makes sense to me, for some reason Homeland Security does not. I really can't explain why but it just sounds more odd to me when I hear it. Maybe because when I hear Homeland Security, I think of secrets, spying, police officers, FBI, etc., not some guys climbing around on Voyage
  17. Homeland Security? Since when do they handle ride inspections?
  18. I doubt any concept art for future attractions would have been hanging in a random office. That stuff is typically not out in the open, even within the design office. Not to mention that if anything like that was laying out, it would have been put away before any camera was let into the building.
  19. Oh I know why a few companies would have declined, Disney, Busch and Cedar Fair. But the others I am still thinking would have been fine. While Merlin is not American, they have properties in America including one of the most well know products at Legoland. PARC is not well know outside the enthusiast community but then again, neither is the last company featured on Undercover Boss. I had never heard of it before and now that I think about it, I can't even remember the name of it. Some distribution company of some sorts. PARC still has properties all across America, including the NASCAR parks. I'm not saying Herschend was a bad choice, just curious about the other companies. I guess we'll probably never really know who else was asked, if any.
  20. About time! Hopefully Clementon gets a new one as well seeing as how a lot of what they are doing at one park, is going to happen at the other.
  21. If it was, then it was done quickly because you were there on November 7th and we were there mid November, just after IAAPA.
  22. Could this be because they are working on a new park map? I thought I remember Brian say something about that back in Jan. I really hope so because the current park map looks like crap.
  23. Well I wouldn't make a trip specifically for it but if you are in the area, its still worth stopping by. I enjoyed the place very much.
  24. I wouldn't rule the park out just yet. There could have been a reason for the rule that day. You never know.
  25. Same here. We all got in just fine back in November.
