  1. Is that a trailer mounted unit? Sort of looks like it so that might be where the train sits while the coaster is packed up.
  2. And they walked away at the very last minute, as in they had the management in Birmingham ready to take control of the park that next day.
  3. Honestly, they could charge $100 and it would be worth it on a busy Saturday in October. On Columbus Day weekend, when the haunted houses have 2 hour waits, it would be a nice thing to have in order to get all of the houses done and still have time for rides.
  4. Is there a gate off of that road that the trucks would enter through for the delivery? Something like the "Rutherford Road Gate"?
  5. ^Nice to see they are using Cedar Point Screamsters for their ads
  6. I'm not even sure it would hold me up.
  7. I wasn't referring to any of that as the land. They still own much more including some of the fields around the 1st & 5th street, River Ave areas. They also own a decent amount of land along the Bay that is not currently used as well as some lots that have houses on them that they rent out to people. They also own some land behind housing that has a few houses and a church that they use for storage. The park owns much more land off point then what people think. Again, I don't think it would happen but they could still have parking off point without building a parking garage.
  8. I wouldn't consider this new system a "reservation system" like other parks have.
  9. They own a decent amount of land in the area along 1st street as well in the "Big Island" area, including land that is occupied with residential houses and a couple warehouses. The idea of building a parking garage on the mainland has been tossed around for a long time. I don't see that happening but what I could see being done is something that no one ever mentions. Build a parking LOT off point (crazy I know). They own enough land that they could build a lot which is obviously a lot cheaper than a garage. The lot would not have to be as big as the current one either since they could still have bus, handicap and even "preferred" parking still on point. Again, not something I see them doing but it is more plausible then a garage being built.
  10. I forgot about Christopher's Island. Such a nice little amusement park with plenty of charm.
  11. They wont be wrapped. It wont be much longer before they are brought inside to be taken apart.
  12. My guess would be that it is gone for good. Id wager that the 3-Point Challenge from the Demon Drop midway will be moved to where Chaos was. CiCi's is on 250 right in front of Meijer. The majority of CP traffic will pass it. I heard nothing but bad things about CiCi's before it was built, no one liked the pizza at all. I finally tried it last month and it was not nearly as bad as everyone made it out to be, I actuality enjoyed their Buffalo chicken pizza. The pizza was not as good as EoC but then again, EoC is not that good when compared to the great local places we have here in Sandusky. I would actually rank it at the bottom of pizza buffets in Sandusky. EoC might have had busy days but it was not consistent and only being busy part of the day in that area of town is a major problem. Dairy Queen, or any unique fast-food joint for that matter, in that location can service both tourists and locals. I am sure there was a reason though for the close, as I mentioned in my other post. I just think this decision makes some good sense (again I mentioned some in my other post). EoC was purely for tourists, not locals, hence why it was closed most of Sept. & Oct. and for good Nov. through April. So DQ has a chance to do something EoC never did; stay open all year. For those that live on that side of town, McDonalds is the only fast-food joint and drive-through. This opens up another choice without having to drive all the way down 250 (great for in the winter).
  13. You know I love me some Eats `n Treats but it is off the beaten path. Most tourists don't know about it. With Dairy Queen, its a name that everyone knows and they are familiar with the food. Like I said before, there is not already a Dairy Queen in town plus they can once again utilize the drive-through window. East never really used it so now with DQ when the dinning room is full, they can still make money at the window. This will probably equal late hours too, something EoC did not do a lot. Makes perfect sense to me why they went with DQ.
  14. Maybe it is a smart decision. Now they don't have to compete with the very cheap Ci-Ci's Pizza Buffet and what they are adding is not currently in Sandusky. We used to have a Dairy Queen but it closed about 7 years ago. I'm sure the closure is not a snap decision, there is a reason. Maybe business was slow (perhaps due to Ci-Ci's), the lease was up and EoC didn't want to renew or Cedar Point just thought it was time for a change. Personally I would have liked to seen a 5 Guys go in there. I wonder though if DQ will close all winter long like EoC does.
  15. ^That part from Raptor that you were unsure about is for train removal. It is attached to each car and used to lift them off the back of the transfer track via a hoist that is mounted above the track. Very slow process. Great Ohio Coaster Club had a group out at the park. Belonging to a club=perks By the time you read this, it will be. We got a LOT of snow last night.
  16. I'm thankful for those who inspired me to become a part of the industry. A big thanks to Walt Disney and Will Koch.
  17. Yes, unfortunately These pics (along with knowing that tour is only $20) makes me really wish I had time to get to BG while Im in Orlando next week. Oh well, next year! Great pics, Steve.
  18. ^Doesn't Worlds of Fun have something similar to Lighthouse Point? Knott's has a hotel on property as well.
  19. What is wrong with the ones they have? I like Arrow trains!
  20. ^^Actually, turns out Mantis opened that same night with both trains.
  21. Whoever made that decision should be given a raise! Absolutely! I wish more parks would do little improvements every year like these. I can see Alabama Adventure doing much more like these over the next couple years, in between a new ride or two:-)
  22. Like I said, it has been done there before, Ive seen it. Even with a full train of guests on a cold morning it just barely makes it through that corkscrew, were talking creeping speeds. It is no surprise to me at all that it stalled out there because of its slow speed after the MCB, especially since it had no guests and it was chilly.
  23. ^^Well if they had it strapped to the track it could have been hard to see that. If they did it like I have seen done before, they just strap it to the spine just behind the train so there is a chance it wasn't visible. I do know though that the train was further down the track at the bottom earlier today.
