  1. So apparently this Monday they are suppose to announce the changes that are coming to the park. From what I have heard this includes a name change, closing the ride side, cheaper admission (by $10) and a few other small things. We'll see if this actually happens since they have already pushed the announcement back.
  2. I was just told that the Giant Wheel is going to a park in England. You can actually already see that it has been removed on the Alabama Adventure webcam. The Bumper Cars and Kiddie Motorbikes have also already been sold/removed. It is a shame that you didn't get to visit because Rampage was definitely one of those coasters you needed to ride.
  3. They are suppose to announce the closer of the ride side soon and the new name of the water park. But the decision to do this had gone back and forth many times so I am not holding my breath. Something to be noted though is that the Giant Wheel at the park is already down and packed up. As to if it has been sold I am not sure but it no longer stands at the park.
  4. I have a ton of pictures of panels but most are printed pictures from an old film camera. One of these days I will get around to scanning them in. Here is what I have on my computer that people haven't already posted. Fly System panel at the Goodtime Theater @ Cedar Point. Giant Wheel @ Alabama Adventure Mind Spinner @ Alabama Adventure Zoomerang @ Alabama Adventure Skyscraper @ Cedar Point.
  5. Planning & Design has nothing to do with the naming, that falls under the Marketing Department at Cedar Point. Especially in this case. Trust me, those in P&D would not have picked that name if it were up to them.
  6. ^You should try doing it at night. Whole other world then.
  7. I like how they take the time as they are running out to look back, frame up and hold on the Universal Studios sign so the viewer knows exactly where this was shot at. Sorry but this is fake and I totally believe USH is behind this. Universal Orlando did a similar video when Bill & Ted "broke into" a soundstage to see one of the haunted houses. This just seems like Hollywood took that idea and ran with it. The description of the video makes it sound like it has nothing to do with the Youtube channel. Just that they found the video of "some kids" and hosted it on their channel. But it cracks me up that they have to approve comments as if not to let people point out the obvious.
  8. That would be fake. The fact that it was copyrighted by Universal is what tipped me off.
  9. ^That was a GREAT day!
  10. Except that the majority of Security Officers I typically see at the park are not the "running type". Some don't even seem like the fast-paced walking type.
  11. Sadly, I don't see it being long because of who is running the park. If the original buyer would have got the park, then I would have a lot of faith but not with Kent at the helm.
  12. Most of those kiddie rides are priced way to high for the condition they are in.
  13. I agree with you there but maybe it is because I didn't really make it clear what I meant. I didn't mean the park would have the boaters over for a meeting to see if they would approve of a new coaster rather when the question came to CP executives of what to do with the land once Cedars was torn down, I believe they would ultimately decide to "give it to the Marina" and build a coaster elsewhere on the point since there is room in other places. When the time comes that you need more parking at the Marina, you pretty much need it AT the Marina. You can fit a coaster in plenty of other places including other parking lots that would permit the same land size for whatever layout that would have worked where Cedars is at. And MF was still built because the complaints didn't come until after it opened. Obviously the boaters are not going to know how loud it is before it is built. Now that the park knows that though, they would take that into consideration when building a new coaster near the Marina.
  14. And this is how they have influence on what happens near the Marina. You would not believe the amount of thought that had to go into work orders and plans that were going to be done close to the Marina at night. It made 3rd shift maintenance hard on Blue Streak because you couldn't use loud saws at night if wood needed changed out. This is why employee movie nights on the big screen were canceled. The queue music for Millennium and Raptor use to come on at 8am until a boater made a call. Anything done on that side of the park or within ear shot of the boats had to be done in consideration of the boaters.
  15. ^^^Then you might be a little shocked to learn how the boaters are treated compared to your average guest. And while it might not be hard to fill a slip for a season, the park wants to continue to sell that slip, Pepsi, souvenir, season pass, etc. to the same person every season not someone different. Sort of how parks treat guests who come to the park more then 3 times (season pass holders) with extra special perks then what the guy who comes once gets. Not to mention word of mouth in a boating community could probably be killer. How are you going to sell a $5,000 dock with a loud B&M 25 feet away? How do you not understand this? Maybe you are right, to hell with boaters willing to fork over tons of money!!! ^The management has always been good at the park but they were only ever allowed to be as good as Dick let them be. Dick being on the board doesn't me jack when it comes to improving guest service. The little bit that has been show to us from Matt is already enough to prove that the company is going to go in the direction that Matt wants, not what Dick wants. Way to be optimistic about good things for Cedar Point/Fair, buddy.
  16. I don't think you understand how important boating is along Lake Erie. Most of those local "boaters" are not local at all but come from all over the U.S. The rates for a dock start at over $2,000 and go up to almost $7,000. Times that by over 500 boat slips and that is nothing to overlook. If those boaters were not that important then Cedar Point Marina wouldn't spend the money to attend the Cleveland and Detroit Boat Shows and numerous other travel expos to try and attract new boaters. They probably also would not fork over the money to nearly double the size of the Marina and to also buy another marina next to Castaway Bay. Boating is BIG business in Sandusky. The boaters have influence on the park like making sure the laser show never happened later then 10pm (exception 4th of July), getting the Employee Movie nights on the screen canceled, only letting Famous Dave's have 15 or so parking spots reserved for guests instead of more. They are responsible for the old storage yard next to MF being turned into parking for them. Bottom line, they do have influence and while they obviously don't have final say, it would be stupid to think the park would not take major consideration into the impact a coaster would have on the boaters if built within feet of the docks.
  17. With the aqua on with the red supports, it reminds me of Serial Thriller! Glad it is getting new colors because I couldn't stand the red on yellow.
  18. Because that is good guest service. Pay no attention to the person who has been loyal for 20+ years for someone who might rent a slip for a summer or two. All that crap aside, even IF they didn't use that space for a parking lot, I still don't think it would be used for a new coaster. It really isn't that big of a space when there are other areas in the park that I think would work out much better.
  19. Well a lot of the older boaters have been docking there going back to when that number was probably 6 and none of the coasters could be seen from the Marina. It is not a new set of boaters every summer, some have been there since the Marina was built.
  20. ^I don't believe they are. You guys are forgetting that the lot we are talking about is a reserved lot, not the Main Lot that anyone can park in. The Marina Lot is SMALL for the amount of boat slips the Marina has. On top of that you have Bay Harbor, Famous Dave's, The Marina Office/Store, VIP Tours, Human Resources and Purchasing that all require parking in that lot. If Cedars was torn down, I would imagine that small space (yes, it IS a small space of land) would just be used for additional parking. Boaters already complain that parking is not ample for them and they pay a LOT of money for those boat slips every summer. This is what leads me to believe the lot would be expanded and not used for a ride, that and the land is in an awkward spot. Further more, the Dock Holders were not entirely happy when MF was built because of the noise it created and it isn't really that close to the boats. Building any kind of coaster within feet (literally) of those expensive boats is not going to make the people paying $1,300+ a month for a slip very happy. It would make more sense to build a coaster that runs out into the Main Lot. Put a station inside the front gate to the left and then run the coaster out into the lot along Perimeter Road. More space to deal with and no whiney dock holders.
  21. Lets not forget though that the rumor about Cedars being torn down because of the conditions has been around since at least 2000. Although the rumor now has a chance of being real more then ever. That being said, if they are torn down I would bet the farm on them using that land for more parking. That end of the lot fills up quick because you have at least 208 boat slips plus Famous Dave's, the Marina Office and HR/Purchasing all needing parking. I could see Perimeter Road being shifted to the left a little (towards the Marina) to give more space behind the Goodtime Theater, Wildcat and the Engine House for vehicle access. I just don't see that land being use for any kind of new attraction.
  22. The area will look much better without it, not to mention the new night time show should make most forget the screen was ever there.
  23. I was answering the question in the post above mine about the details of the show. I never said it wasn't confirmed. As Kyle and myself already mentioned, it was announced (if you can really call it an announcement) back in January in the 'Fun Forward' presentation.
  24. It hasn't actually be announced yet so details of what it is are just rumors. Only that it is a new night time show is what anyone knows from the "Fun Forward" presentation.
