  1. And at least they're giving everyone notice so they can go ride one last time unlike a certain park in Edmonton!!!

  2. Be ready to buy Quick Queue. Then you’re fine… If you don’t want to do that, see my locker trick above.

  3. ^I assume you have the Quick Queue with only one Iron Gwazi? In that case, make sure to run right there and get a ride without using QQ and use the QQ later in the day, and then get in line for it right before park close so at least you can get a few rides with minimal waiting. Montu has only been running one train so even with Quick Queue be prepared to wait. Scorpion was down a lot last weekend but we did get on it...I wonder if it was having issues and they just pulled it early. Food at the park isn't as good as it used to be so don't waste time waiting in line at any of the real places...do the Mardi Gras food booths or the Pretzels (my fav if you can get a fresh one!) near Scorpion. If you need 'real' food, try one of the places that does mobile ordering so there's less waiting. Good luck! Saturday of a Holiday weekend!! Eeek!

  4. Even on a crowded day Infinity Falls might be the only thing with any kind of a significant wait time. They usually don't open that ride with the park, if I recall they open that area of the park about an hour later so if your riding Mako around 9:45 or so you can get over to Infinity Falls when it opens shortly after 10. If you're at the park when they open at 9 am it's pretty easy to grab a few rides on Manta, Kraken, and Mako within the first hour.

  5. Blazing Fury is also 6 years newer than Fire in the Hole. I'm sure they learned quite a bit in those years of Fire in the Hole and did some things differently in the construction of Blazing Fury. Also, Blazing Fury removed the water from the final drop in 2011. So it ran with water for around 33 years compared to the now 50+ years of Fire in the Hole. Maintenance workers at Dollywood have said that they had to basically choose to remove the water or face removing the ride due to the issues that the water caused for the entire building.

  6. I'm pretty sure FITH is just too far gone structurally to be just refurbed. That building is a mess.

  7. They are definitely doing this the right way. Love that they are pulling out all the history and even brought back the ride's theme song. The park really does well putting these things together when they want to, I just hope the new ride is given as much care after it opens. Time Traveler's 'theme' of being a clock factory with a dad/daughter inventor duo is basically forgotten now unless you really go searching for the details, and Wildfire's famous inventor character has been missing for years. The best thing about FITH (and flooded mine) is that it smacks you in the face with rich history and details. So unique and interesting, and so much more than just a coaster in a box. The outpouring of attention they are receiving over this proves they have something special here, and they obviously know it.

  8. I like the ride page they've made for FITH. Tells the story of the ride, has pics of it being built!, and offers wallpapers as well as audio files of the Red Flanders dialogue and of the theme song! Wish I had the money to get the refillable mug; my main focus with collecting SDC stuff has been mugs, so it'd go great with my collection.

  9. I like Fire in the Hole and its Dollywood cousin, but the ride is very old, and I imagine it's difficult and expensive to maintain. I hope they replace with a nice updated version (like Knott's did with their mine train and log ride).

  10. Well, we all knew this was probably gonna happen and now here we are. While I am disappointed, I'm excited for FITH 2.0. I'm hopeful they reuse or kinda mimic stuff from the original ride and don't just do a screen based "tribute". That would be a huge disappointment. I agree with teacherkim though, they should have announced or at least teased the replacement so we get less of the "They are removing all the charm!" and "Save my childhood!". Knowing theat the ride will continue at least in spirit would go along way I think. I'm also curious to see what they do with FITH's location. I'm not necessarily buying the new train station theory, as I feel like if that what they wanted then getting rid of Flooded Mine would have been the better option. Speaking of Flooded Mine, I hope that when they are done redoing FITH that they either do a real big rufurb for FM or just put that poor ride out of its misery.

  11. The amount of appreciation you get from the little things in life is great. Her joy is our deep meaningful joy multiplied. We don't live for ourselves anymore, and life takes on a real purpose. For that, I'll gladly wait in the hour long log flume line to make her happy.
