  1. LOL and these are the people who wanted to take over Cedar Fair...

  2. Is this a joke, too, that I can't tell because its not labelled as such? Please explain in detail how any decision regarding the future of Dragster would in any way effect the thus-far-non-public-and-without-any-timetable Volcano replacement plans?

  3. Or being the greeter at the attraction telling them they aren't tall enough anymore, despite them showing you a photo they were on it already... and then trying to explain the situation to a bunch of parents that their kids aren't tall enough (anymore). Mind as well just have a supervisor staked out up front permanently. That really sucks. I feel like something had to have "happened" to make this change as a knee jerk reaction.... right?

  4. Absolutely true and yes, great example. Given their relationship with Intamin, there is that possibility. Wouldn't that be something if they did remove it, and then "further" delays the "Volcano replacement" at Kings Dominion (if it ever happens)...

  5. I have no idea what the future holds for this ride and nothing would surprise me, but I also don’t think that the chain that recently removed Volcano the Blast Coaster from Kings Dominion cares about this type of intangible thing. Every single thing is a math equation to them comparing revenue that a ride generates (which admittedly is difficult to come up with but they have plenty of metrics to try) to the costs and liabilities involved with operating the ride. That’s it.

  6. I really love Premier's coasters, they are always forceful and unique and fun, but their modern trains are just ass. With or without the comfort collars. If it was a 2" bump or something then fine, but jumping up 6" immediately after touting the ride as a family coaster is just unfortunate. I would be very upset too.

  7. Surprised there isn't more discussion on ^this. That 48" height requirement was one of their biggest, if not their biggest, marketing points. That's a huge bummer.

  8. A 620 page report was released by a news station with witness accounts from the park, maintenance records, photos of the area, etc. I won't post it only because it lists names and addresses that should probably be redacted, and I would hate to have my personal info leaked like this, but I skimmed through it and also read all the witness statements. I'm always intrigued by what people "think" they saw... ie: there was a call stating someone fell out the ride, that a piece of iron dragon flew off, etc. But there is a lot of insight as to what happened immediately after the event occurred. Very sad to read about what she went through.

  9. The queue is definitely going to have to be changed to prevent an accident like this from ever happening again. However, I'd like to believe the maintenance practices that created the conditions leading to the shearing of the flag pole bolts have already been revised.

  10. Ice Breaker height requirement changed to 54" today. It was previously 48". This happens hours after making a big deal out of the 48" req upon opening the ride. https://youtu.be/CD_-8_7EfMA?t=245

  11. Also Tibidabo is a cute park in Barcelona worth going to (bus is probably the fastest way there) with incredible views of the city, particularly if you go up the church. There are a lot of historical rides and the Vekoma coaster is great fun with amazing views too.

  13. I know both of my kid's trips to HW were in May... the lines weren't horrible, it just depends on how many schools show up that day.

  14. See if you can fly to Reus, Ryanair and a few European budget airlines go there, and it's literally a 10-15 minute taxi drive away from the park. If not, it's an easy train journey from Barcelona by train. I have stayed at the Gold River hotel and actually really liked it. Not sure about the PortAventura hotel. The theming was really nice and it has its own entrance into the park, but it wasn't really possible to go to other hotels in the evenings (like I normally do at Europa or Disney). I think if things go your way you can do the parks in two days, but the operations are very unreliable, so it depends when you are visiting and how much time you would normally spend eating, watching shows etc (some of the shows are good), so maybe 3 days if you aren't on a tight schedule and you're not likely to visit again for a while.

  15. PortAventura is super easy to get to by train, it has its own stop on the train line. So you'll just have to taxi from the airport to the main train station in Barcelona. I would plan at least 2 days at the park, or 3 if you want to hit the water park. I would also suggest staying at one of the on-site hotels as park admission is included if you stay there. The park also has express passes you can buy, which I would suggest getting at least one of the days of your visit. I would check out the park's english website as it was very helpful when I was planning our trip back in 2019.
