I used to race in a 125 dirt bike class (I had a Kawasaki KX 125), but I stopped after I crashed and broke my left wrist, collar bone, and a few of my ribs. My bike was also trashed. I just said forget it and stopped riding.

I may get a new bike in the future, but I really don't know yet.

For most bikes, that is true.

for the high performance bikes, premiums are enormous.

i work in the industry. Most policies w/hi-pro bikes w/ liability only aren't bad. When you add comp and collision to them, they skyrocket!

ex: 2003 honda cbr650f liab only 275.00 a yr averag.

add comp and collision: jumps to 3700.00 to 5000.00 a yr... i see it every day and people freak when they hear it...

Yes, I ride. Or 'rode,' cause I don't currently have a bike. Used to own a CBR600. I also worked for an ad agency that worked for Kawasaki, so I had the opportunity to ride a variety of bikes in their lineup...

BTW Fanatic, nice looking bike you've got. How's it ride?

^ It is a very comfortable ride, but not perfect for my build (6'3"). I hope to buy some forward controls this summer to help.

Pros:

Smooth (even with chain drive) ride

Mucho Power

Heavy enough not to get blown around on the highway

Cons:

Not a whole lot of highend (it really screams on the highway)

It will do until I get my dream ride.

I'm on a city-bike-type Seca II, and my bf rides a beefy Suzuki Bandit 1200. In late 2003, I busted my hip in an embarassingly stupid accident (don't ask) and ended up with titanium inside. After the operation, I asked my surgeon two questions: Would I be able to ride a bike again? And would I be able to ride coasters? Seven months later, I was back on my motorcycle, and on Millennium Force. Jeez, it's just like an inspiring Movie of the Week.

  • 3 years later...

just went trough the forum-index, starting with the last page, and found this topic.

while nobody posted here for nearly 4 (!!!) years, i thought it would be nice to restart this topic, because summer will come again soon and nearly every biker here in europe can´t wait to get his baby back on the road.

even if i can´t spend so much time with my motorbike as i would like to, i enjoy every second i am able to ride it.

i life near the bavarian forest and it just takes me about 1 hour to the nicest routes in the bavarian and austrian alps.

my first bike was a honda shadow 600 when i was 18, then i drove a cbr 650 for 8 years, but since last year, i own a ducati monster 696.

i´m so happy with this bike, can´t wait for the first sun-rays and dry streets.

[i'm not a biker, but those sound like incredible routes! Hey, how bout you take the Ducati, and loan me the sweet ride in your avatar?

...believe me, even if the porsche is the perfect fun machine, you won´t change the ducati for a car on a sunny spring-day!

so, come over to germany and you can find out by yourself!

I don't 'bike' but I'm happy to see that TPR isn't full of idiots like my mom's boyfriend who act like you're 'yuppy and stupid' if you drive a honda and the only thing you can ride EVAR KNOWN TO MAN is a Harley if you wan to be a 'cool' biker.

You also have to weigh 500 pounds, be a womanizer, have a beard that is disgustingly un-groomed and long, constantly and only wear leather and black and be obsessed with fire, death, skulls and eating if you want to be a 'real biker.'

I hate people. They make me angry. Bikers don't piss me off if they're just your average joe that rides a motorcycle.

I'm going off on a tangent, I'ma stop now. I have to say though, I think the Hondas and the Suzukis look way cooler than Harleys
