rollermonkey
The other day my doorbell rang, so I went down to see who it was. There was a guy standing there, wearing a suit and holding a gift-wrapped package. He was a little surprised to see a foreigner answer the door, but he jumped into a schpiel in Japanese. I have no idea what he said. He gave me his business card which told me he was from Yakult, a beverage company here in Japan. We went back and forth a bit and I still don't know what he wanted. My neighbor to the back of my house is a Yakult distribution point, so I figured it was somehow related to that. My next-door neighbor had their house ripped down and replaced by a 6-story building, and I got a box of cookies and stationary from that, so I figured something similar must be going on. ANYHOW! The guy gave me the gift, which weighed about 10 pounds. I threw it on the kitchen table with the card, and I figured I'd let my wife figure it out. It seems that Yakult has a new drink. Introducing: Thorpedo That Ian Thorpe guy from the last summer olympics has got his name put on a Japanese sports drink? Here's the pictures: (It tastes like watered down Gatorade, and I have two cases to drink.) Look! There's Ian Thorpe! Rgight above the nutritional data I can't read! I have no clue what's up with this.
