Three Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Money and time issues might mean that I have to pick and chose what parks I hit while in Texas. And right now, I'm really torn between the two Six Flags parks. I think I'm leaning toward SFOT, at present. Texas Giant looks a bit better than Rattler, (and has two good wooden coasters, not just one). Titan's extra helix calls to me, Mr. Freeze looks fantastic, and my girlfriend can finally ride a Batman. But am I right in thinking that SFFT is run better? It certainly seems to have better scenery, and overall it looks like a nicer park. Plus it actually has a unique beamer which looks fantastic. I dunno. I wanna do both, but which is the better choice if I can only do one?
waterviper Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Astroworld! Actually I wouldn't know because I never been to a Texas park yet. I just replied to be a smart ass!
BarryH Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 I'd say SFOT. Even though the day was insanely busy, I still had a good time. The rides were run properly and the employees were pretty friendly. I think SFOT is one of the shining jewels of the Six Flags parks.
coaster1 Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Well depends on the time of year. Both parks are stand-outs in different ways: SFOT has rides, history, shade, all around great staff and feel SFFT has good flats, medicore assortment of coasters but AMAZING shows and a great water park. The cons are that both are IN Texas, so anytime from May-September, it'll be dreadfully hot and humid. SFFT has almost NO shade in the park as trees don't grow too well in limestone. SFOT has ALOT of trees, a major plus and they are bringing back A/C queue lines (even outside) this summer. SFFT also has a rattlesnake problem in the summer. SFOT has a water moccosin issue during Spring and early summer and other times the other animals aren't a problem during the day.
Three Posted April 9, 2006 Author Posted April 9, 2006 Hey, I'm a Floridian. I can *totally* do hot and humid. But rattlesnakes? Um... what kind of rattlesnake problem exactly?
coaster1 Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Rattlesnakes that are native to the region .. find them all over the place during the summer ... found a nest once during the Lone Star Spectacular under a trash can .. about 6 or 7 of them plus babies ... twas scary. Florida's heat is different since it actually rains in Florida .. it rarely rains in the summer here .. and will stay above 100 until 11 or 12 at night with about 95% humidity.
coasterguy618 Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Probably SFOT because it looks like they have the best coasters.
CD Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Oh, it is soooo hard to choose considering these are my two favorite parks in the Six Flags chain, but I would have to say SFOT. They have better coasters and a lot of places to keep cool. Although I know which ever park that you choose you will have an amazing time. I have been to both of these parks during a hurricane and still had a great time (they were totally emptie and every ride was open and a walk-on) they never will disapoint me. -Chris
Imhotep Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 After visiting both parks for the first time last month, I would strongly recommend SFoT over SFFT if youre making your decision soley on the coasters between the two parks. Rattler paled in comparison to Texas Giant. It had a great drop and the tunnel was nice, but it had this really boring helix halfway through the ride that killed the pacing IMO. Titan was awesome, alot of G's. and Mr. Freeze was simply amazing. I would visit SFoT for Mr. Freeze alone. Also , if you like drop towers, they have a smooth 1st gen intamin as well as an S&S tower that is probably double the size of SFFTs. I would say that both parks seemed to be run pretty well, and were well maintained. SFFT is only 10 yrs old, so of course everything in the park still seems new and clean. The scenery at SFFT is beautiful mainly because everywhere you look you see quarry walls, and they have done a great job interacting the rides with them. Hope you have fun man!
socalMAN123 Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 I haven't been to Texas. But, from what I heard, the best is SFOT. Brent "this should be a poll" Shenton
jarmor Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Best six flags park in texas...Six Flags SplashTown!
astroworldfan Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 If you are into rides--SFOT without question. If you want shows and a couple of rides... then SFFT. SFOT Titan is worth it all by itself Superman Tower of power ( I think) is still the tallest S&S tower. (excluding stratosphere) Texas Giant is actually better than the Rattler. The Rattler has become more like a "wee garter snake." Its VERY tame. BTR and MR. Freeze Totally rock. Judge Roy scream is good for airtime . AND they still have first gen Intamin Drop. Better/Faster/Nicer Ride ops at SFOT Hotel rooms are cheaper near sfot than near sfft SFFT Superan Krypton Coaster.... Great Ride... then youve got a decent arrow mine train. standard boomerang (a good boomerang.. if that is possible. ) Used to be much better woodie, Also poltergeist is very fun. (load/Reload time SUCKS) and a medium sized s&s tower. Lots of shows, and water rides. Great theming Free Water park. For me .... SFOT cuz I am coaster freak. -Jerry
