robbalvey
I am in the process of moving all the forum images to the new server. So if you see the little red X's or can't download a file, that is why. they should be all moved over (there are 26,000 files total!) in the next couple of hours. Thanks for your patience. --Robb

MSLSM
Does this include avatars too, or just the pics in the posts or gallery?
waterviper
I would say avatars too because my avatar was a red X until I re uploaded it. I have also seen other peoples avatars that are a red X aswell. Ya also anything that has an image may have a red X until Robb gets this all sorted. (Refer to Robb's first post above)
MSLSM
I just noticed that. When I posted, I just saw my avatar had a blue ?(on macs), and I did not know why since no one else had it. That is why I changed avatars. lol
robbalvey
yea good luck i have been to 3 sites now doing this lol Geez, sorry. I'm just trying to make the site better. --Robb "Or was this a mis-use of the rolling eyes smiley?" Alvey
coasterdude5
All the avatars seem to be doing fine.
robbalvey
All the images were stored on the .com server so they shouldn't be affected. If your avatar is not working, there is a chance it might have gotten lost in the move (the movers looked kind of shady) so you'll have to re-upload it. The forum images and uploads were stored on the .net account and I'm currently still copying them over. You'll start to see some of them come online now. --Robb "26,000 files takes a long time to move!!!" Alvey
robbalvey
BTW, uploading files DOES work. So don't be afraid to post a Photo TR or a file or something. --Robb
robbalvey
Ok, this is taking a lot longer than I expected. I've got about 1/2 of them moved over, but it's taken ALL DAY LONG! Mostly due to the old server not being capable it seems of having an FTP connection open longer than about 5 minutes! Every once in a while I get lucky and it stays open for 10 minutes! Woo hoo!!!! The new server seems to be working a lot better! --Robb "Should have all the files moved over by tomorrow." Alvey
robbalvey
Ok, only got about 10,000 more to move over. Should be done today! --Robb
rollermonkey
"Only 10,000?" Wow, we're weird! Just how many files were there in all? Give it to us in gigs or total files if you can when you're done, Robb. I am actually very curious.
robbalvey
It's something like 26,000 files total! That's all the images and videos that have been posted since the site started! There was an issue with the old server that would not allow them to create a .gz file and transfer it because it was too big. So now I'm having to transfer them all one at a time!!! --Robb "Almost done!" Alvey
rollermonkey
Yikes! What's a .gz file? An electronic gazelle?
Mystery
What is the total size of all the images you're moving? Must be big, realy big!
robbalvey
I think it's about 8 gigs worth. --Robb
coaster1
Yikes! What's a .gz file? An electronic gazelle? A compressed file like a ZIP file on UNIX. It's "tarred" then "gzipped" making a file.tar.gz file.
robbalvey
All of the forum's images have now been restored. If you are still getting a broken link to a photo or other download, please let me know ASAP! Thanks! --Robb
