GAcoaster Posted January 20, 2006 Author Posted January 20, 2006 And today, SFNE has posted their price hikes including $15 parking.
ParkTrips Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 SFOG is up to $15 as well. I'm guessing they all are going to be in that range... Also, of note, SFOG will no longer have premium parking "aka the Gold Lot".
ebl Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 "...IIRC, at SFMM you can park on Magic Mountain Parkway..." (jumbach) No, I don't believe you can park anywhere on Magic Mountain Parkway. Some people do park in one of the lots down on The Old Road and walk up, but I think that's going too far. It's not a long walk, but compared to the dreaded Hill of Doom (walking to the top of the mountain up the pathway next to Gold Rusher/Spin Out), I think it's worse and a lot longer. $15 is too much to pay, in my opinion, but trying to beat it by parking down the hill isn't worth it. Twister II Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 You cant park at REI when going to Elitch's. Its pretty much right under the bridge, we've walked from SFEG to REI many many times.
BelizeIt Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 Well $15 Dollars to park your car, is a bit expensive by anyones standards. But I guess once your at the parking booth, your probably going to pay the parking fee. What else are you going to do? Turn around? Not likely. But It may leave a bitter taste in your mouth, which may keep you from coming back again anytime soon. I hope Six Flags knows whats its doing.....If not good luck to your future! Lets face it, Six Flags is not on the level of Disneyland, and you want to charge 50% more for parking at a lesser park....Give me a break!
AMartin777 Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 I have to agree with everyone here. $15.00 is absolutely ludicrous for parking! This will result in a guaranteed loss of attendance for the parks. Families of 3 to 4 WILL NOT pay this price more than once and will only pay it the first time because they will be unaware of the price initially. Perhaps that is the strategy... take advantange of the typical GP park goer who is ignorant to the "details". Good luck SF, your destined for bankruptcy!
rollermonkey Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 I pay 2000 yen to park at DisneySea or Tokyo DisneyLand. That's about $19-20 depending on the exchange rate. Most parks are 1000 yen, though. I don't know what USJ charges, though, I took the train. What's parking at Disney parks in other places up to these days?
haiderodes Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 Regular Parking at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim is at $10 same as USH. Parking at the WDW parks is $9.
larrygator Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 There are some parks out there that don't jack up prices to compensate. Knoebel's and Lakemont come to mind...I'd be amazed if Lakemont makes any kind of profit since they charge only $7.50 for an all-day wristband. I got in Lakemont for $1.95 on Labor Day Sunday and that included a free BBQ. I'm pretty sure they didn't make any money off of me. FYI - The BBQ food (burgers and dogs) was horrible and I drove up to DelGrossos for pizza later in the day. Personally I'd like if SF offered a "gold" parking pass for let's say $50 that was good for all SF parks.
ShannonSomerville Posted January 21, 2006 Posted January 21, 2006 I'll be getting my parking pass this year, there is no way on this planet that I'll be paying 15.00 for parking at SFA this year. SES
Freefallbestrideever Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 In a way it's a good thing, if they can turn Six Flags around then it's worth it because my uncle gets the Xtreme pass and he takes me most of the time with my cousin, we just get the $50(i think it's 60 now) play pass. Awesome deals that more than pay for themselves Plus hopefully this means shorter lines for X, but we mostly go on Sundays when the lines aren't that long anyway
crispy Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 Sorry, but I have a hard time paying for any parking at all, and $15 is nuts. I can understand parking fee's for placed like the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, were there literally a ton of diffrent things to do, like the stinky beach, the cool warf, and of course the boardwalk, which is free to enter, and you just have to pay either for a wristband, or tickets to ride the rides. I am so glad I live near a park that does not charge for parking, although they may need to do something, last year, near the end of the season, Cliff's was so crowded they had not only thier lot full, but the restraunt next door, and they had to start turning people away If I make it up to Denver this year, which for some reason is something I would love to do, I will take jumbach's suggestion and park somewhere else and take the trolley in
Guest Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 It's kinda interesting how people that said Six Flags cant get any worse. Things can always get worse. Ive seen parking price go up to 50 for a laker game. I think i saw a sign that said 75 or 65 dollars. They are always changing the price depending on what going on in the area
