Wes Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 I'm going to Florida the second week of March and it will be my first time going to Universal Florida and IoA. I'm assuming since that week is the beginning of the Spring Break season, most everything should be open. Does anyone know if there's anything scheduled to be closed at either park? I'M FINALLY GOING TO IOA! kthx. wes
Erik Johnson Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 I know that Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw falls is in extensive rehab at the moment, but I believe it should be finished by your visit. There are rumors that Dueling Dragons is going to go down for a couple of weeks at the end of Jan or early Feb to give it its much needed paint job. But that's only a rumor. Since March and April are a busy time for the Florida parks, Im sure all the major attractions should be up and running.
TheStig Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 ^That's odd because DDRF went down last year for Re-Hab, although I went the week it re-opened and it looked like a brand new ride (like it should!). But Wes, let me know what day your going because if you want I could meet you up there. But besides that I really dont know what will be down around that time. Colin C

Hattuchili Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 When starts Spring Break in the US and how long is it! I mean I am arriving Orlando on March 14th! I have only seen a few things about the Spring Break in Florida on TV! It looks like there will be so many teens in Florida, for partys and alcohol!? --Sören
CoasterCrazy Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 ^My spring break is March 6-12, I'm in College!
SharkTums Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 Basically Spring Breaks seem to start around March 6th and run through the week after Easter (Mid-April I believe this year). It's a busy time at the parks, but not as bad as major holidays.

Wes Posted January 10, 2006 Author Posted January 10, 2006 I did some googling around, and it looks like most of the schools in Florida have their break the weeks of the 13th or 20th, with the exception of FSU, which is the week of the 6th. I know WDW is more touristy than DLR though, so there's less locals clogging up the park than when Spring Break hits SoCal. I'm crossing my fingers that the week I'm there isn't terribly bad.
coasterdude5 Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 Yeah, I think that's the same week I'll be there. (11th-18th) It shouldn't be as bad as the summer.
Wes Posted January 10, 2006 Author Posted January 10, 2006 ^ I'll be there the week before you. There's more schools out for break the week you'll be there.
coasterdude5 Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 Gee thanks.... I still don't believe it will be as bad as the summer. At least from what friends tell me. Anybody find it funny that alot of people's Spring Break isn't even in spring? (1st day of spring is March 20)
Meteornotes Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 There's a website that I cannot remember the name of that shows the crowds at WDW on a 1-10 scale. I was there last year the first week of spring break, and the site said it was a "7". It was the busiest I have ever seen the place. Long lines, and multi-hour waits for fastpass (if they were not sold out already). I'd advise checking that site, and as always, get to the parks early. IOA/USF wasn't as bad for some reason, and we were there on the weekend. We made sure we were there before opening the first day, and were done with all the major attractions in IOA before Noon. We went over to the studios side and rode things with small lines and/or single rider lines. The next day we were there again before opening, and picked up the stuff we missed at the Studios. We didn't get express passes, and probably wouldn't have needed them. dt
robbalvey Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 ^ You want to email the Florida Mummy crew for us too as we'll be there two weeks later? --Robb
Jew Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 ^What, to warn them that you are going to jump out of the ride to get tons of illegal footage? So you can get banned from another park? Sounds good to me.
