Sean Menefee Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 Wally, what kind of beer would you recommend for someone who doesn't like it (me)? I've never been able to get into beer, I think it tastes weird and gross. I know I'm not Wally but I can suggest the way I got in Beer/Ale. New Castle Brown Ale is one of the best brews on the market for people who don't really like that bitter type, beer flavor IMO. This was the first brand that got me really excited about trying other types of brew, and my tastes have expanded greatly since then. http://www.newcastlebrown.com/ When all else fails, grab a New Castle Brown Ale, (on tap is a super plus but bottles will do.) Good luck Wes, and may the power to choose good tasting spirits be with you. Sean (BTW Wally, what do you think about New Castle dude?)
Shockwave Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 Why aye, man! Not had a bottle in quite a while, I've been getting into a few different things of late. On a different note, for those people interested in real ale, I'd recommend joinging up with CAMRA - Campaign for Real Ale. The Good Beer Guide is well worth a read for recommendations on what to drink. www.camra.org.uk
Nrthwnd Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 I doubt it. Budweiser and other Anheuser-Busch products are brewed at a Labatt Brewery in Canada for the fine folks in Canada. So unless they start brewing it up there, I highly doubt it.
mcjaco Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 If it's Budweiser Select, I'm going to puke. Hey.... I kid. Although it wouldn't be my first choice, I do drink it (it's one of the bucket deals at the bar around the corner from work). COnsidering the other deal is PBR, the Select will win everyday!
PhishyBrewer Posted December 22, 2005 Author Posted December 22, 2005 (BTW Wally, what do you think about New Castle dude?) An Everest pizza from Mountain Mike's and a pitcher of New Castle... my kind of party
mcjaco Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 Out of curiousity Wally, is the Fairfield plant by Suisun? My Dad is a railfan and, I believe we chased trains upto that AB brewery a few years ago.
mcjaco Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 Well I'll be jiggered. I was at the scene of your accident! I'll hoist a Bud in your honor at dinner tonight.

I would rather drink and swish around horse piss in my mouth then drink Bud Select!!! I bought that swill thinkin Bud has a new line of beer out....till I tasted!! :o I couldnt finisht the bottle so I dumped the rest out. I couldnt figure out why it was so horendously gross. Then I found out it was one of those annoying LOW CARB or NO CARB drinks. I guess I am sensitive to low carb stuff because I can seriously taste the difference and its not pleasant. Give me all the damn carbs in my drinks and meals, that is where the flavor is!! LOW CARB or NO CARB= PUKE!!! I gave the rest of mine to my brother! He thought it was gross too. But he drank one or two bottles and then couldnt stomach it anymore. So he gave it away to a friend of his. He said it was pretty bad too. But drank the rest of it anyways!! PBR is liquid heaven compared to Bud Select!!
PhishyBrewer Posted December 23, 2005 Author Posted December 23, 2005 ^Someone just got banned from the phishybrewer.com forums
PhishyBrewer Posted December 23, 2005 Author Posted December 23, 2005 Enjoying the fruits of my labor!
Hattuchili Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 ^ Is that beer really that good? Save one for me, Wally! --Sören
DorneyDude Posted December 28, 2005 Posted December 28, 2005 Hmmmmmm, so it's a Lager but it appears to be dry hopped with Cascades, which are pretty much all purpose hops. I think we can probably rule out Helles since I would assume this mystery beer would have a hoppier flavor than the average Helles. I would also probably rule out a Marzen or Oktoberfest beer, since it's a little early to be brewing that (unless this is a 3 month advanced test batch). A-B already has an American Lager (Budweiser). I don't really know of any mass produced Bocks or Dunkels to use dry hopping in the recipe so, I would probably rule those out as well. My guess would be a Pilsner. Wally, does A-B produce Winter's Cask Ale??? I was at a bar near work last Thursday and they were pushing that like crazy. I tried one. It was decent. Had an OK flavor but the finish was rather lacking.

Meaning, you can only get it on tap at a bar or restaurant. Fall Beer: Jack's Pumpkin Spice Ale(Also avavailable in the Michelob Sampler Pack) Winter Beer: Winter’s Bourbon Cask Ale Spring Beer: ??? Summer Beer: ???
PhishyBrewer Posted February 28, 2006 Author Posted February 28, 2006 We have started production on the Holiday Lager again. The name has been changed to Wild Hop Lager and it is USDA Certified Organic. Another thing that I think is kind of odd, you would never know this beer was brewed by Anheuser-Busch unless you knew it before hand. On the label it says brewed by "Green Valley Brewing Co" I have posted what the label looks like on my forum. Check it out in the Beer Section of the forum.
DerekRx Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 Looks good, hopefully I'll be able to find some next month. I don't think I've ever had a hoppy lager by Busch, this should be interesting.
PhishyBrewer Posted March 1, 2006 Author Posted March 1, 2006 ^We actually used to make beer called Pacific Ridge Pale that was really good. Once the pilot brewery statred up operations in St Louis, all the special brews were shifted to there. Here's another one we just realesed yesterday. http://www.anheuser-busch.com/news/springheatspicedwheat_022706.htm
