ScOtT k Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 From mouseplanet - Maria Sable, spokesperson for the Anaheim Fire Department has confirmed that a hazarous materials incident occured at Disneyland at 3:29 p.m. It occured in a backstage vehicle repair area and apparently involved the fall and breaking of a drum containing chemicles related to fiberglass. The break allowed gas to escape. One cast member has been transported to a local area hospital, the "uniform and transportation center" (her words, not exactly sure which departments this would be) have been evacuated. Currently no onstage areas are affected, though the Disneyland Railroad has been shut down. Coincidentally, this is the second problem with chemicals at Disneyland Resort in as many days. Early Friday morning, three Disneyland workers were taken to the hospital after two chemicals were incorrectly mixed near Flik's Fun Fair in Disney's California Adventure.

That reminds me of when I was in high school and some science teacher dumped a five gallon drum of ammonia or something over. We got to stand outside for like 2 hours and then finally they sent us home early... every group was applauding the guy when he told us we could go home. Sorry, it's nostalgia night. -Amanda
waterviper Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 WTF are they using these chemicals for? Does DL Resort have some sort of underground nuclear science lab or something? Wont be suprised if something went wrong underground and wipes DL Resort of the face of the world!!! Mike"never realized that DL Resort delt with such chemicals" Black
AznShortBoi8021 Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 The chemicals related to fiberglass could be chemicals used to make fiberglass parts for rides and stage props. Or they could be producing chemicals that will give humans super powers to make movies like Sky High more "authentic" looking.

The first time, they had some students break a thermometer and not tell anyone. The second time, they had a student bring some to school with them and start passing it around. My family and I are sitting here in disbelief over the extreme measures they are taking because she remembers sitting in science classes playing with it on her hand. (We don't think anything is wrong with her, but who knows) But for the Disneyland thing... It sucks to hear about 2 similar accidents in the last week. But I guess things happen.

Jeezus Juice Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 A broken thermometer closed a school?! Over-react much! I remember playing with mercury before when I was little. It's like the worlds most fun liquid! Just don't drink it or put it in your eyes or anus! They probably just cleared the area so Hazmat could clean it up eaiser. They just have to make sure a sweeper doesent squegee toxins down a storm drain. Well, at least a Fire Cheif probably got to play "Hero". Yum, fiberglass resin!
Nemmy Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 I don't remember anything going into my anus, so I suppose I'm pretty safe there. Of course, who knows how many proctologist visits I've had that I can't remember...at least I'm not Scooby.
mcjaco Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 Just don't drink it or put it in your eyes or anus! These are words to live by people. I try to keep anything that may detrimental to my health away from my anus.
socalMAN123 Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 Wow, that's kind of sad. We would think since Disney has been around for such a long time, they would know how to deal with things like this. ---Brent 8)
