Erik Johnson Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 This came in the mail today, I thought it was pretty cool. King Kong AP passholder flyer.
Chrissie Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 Wow! Those are pretty cool prizes!! Chrissie "What happened 2 King Kong @ Universal?" Stevenson
SharkTums Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 See they should have taken out Orlando's ET also to make room for Mummy...the ride would have had such the comeback! Cool contest!
jarmor Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 hummm...totally off topic...but could universal add another king kong attraction back at the studios... I read somewhere that some action maybe going on where the old nick production was...
JT3000 Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 They could, but they probably aren't. The area where the Nick Studios building is and the large area behind MiB are ripe for expansion. However, the fact that they replaced Kong instead of building Mummy from scratch in one of these other areas (would cost more) leads me to believe that they aren't willing to do anything major with USF right now. As much as I hate to see Kong go, having Mummy replace E.T. definitely wasn't the answer either. It would have made even less sense to place Mummy in that area (the kids zone) than where it currently resides in NY.
pvcoasterguy Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 Yeah... I'm glad we used the Kong building rather than the ET one. Universal Hollywood had space problems, and wouldn't use real fire because that building was never certified for the real thing. However, the Kong building already had been certified for tons of fire and was a much bigger space, allowing Universal Florida to have the 'better' Mummy and allowing Universal Hollywood to have the 'I wish I was in Florida' Mummy.
Thrasher Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 As im sure many of you know, there is a reference in Mummy to the old Kong ride. In the treasure room in the upper left side of treasures, theres a golden Kong statue. Theres also reportedly some of the Kong structure still visible as it was part of the building, but I was unable to locate it during my last visit.
freestylenut Posted November 3, 2005 Posted November 3, 2005 I guess I already have 2 entries in, I went on 10/16 and supposedly the contest started on 10/10/05 (prior to my knowledge of this contest). Maybe I'll head up there this Sunday! I never get sick of that place!
