Leanne and I do collect some of the pins that they sell at WDW. (We honestly have less than 100 between us) By far I think my favorite series they have ever released is the Piece of Disney History pin collection. There is going to be a total of 12 pins in the whole set (10 of them have been released so far) and each pin features a small artifact from a Disney attraction. Here are some pictures so you can see what I am talking about. The two remaining pins (which are not pictured) are going to be Splash Mountain and Spaceship Earth.

These are kind of cool... but Dinsey must be running out of ideas.

Yeah no kidding. They seem to put out at least 1000 to 2000 pins a year, how can they keep thinking up new designs.

I've got two full pin bags in my storage right now from when I was an uber Disney tool.

Honestly I don't really like alot of the pins that are coming out now. Those ones that you have Erik are pretty cool though!

Are they releasing an Ariel pin with a piece of her shell bra?

I do wonder, though, are these REALLY pieces of attractions, like pieces that were actually in "service" or more like the "actually bulbs" from the Main Street Electrical Parade Bulbs that Disneyland sold?

Oh boy I hope not. These pins seem to be documented well, take a look at these construction pictures for the 20K pin. But again who really knows.

^ Ahh, see that's cool. I remember the huge upset when people found out that all those MSEP bulbs they bought weren't ACTUALLY the bulbs used in the parade, they were REALLY pissed!

Thanks to the internet, they just couldn't hide the fact that when the parade was "retired" from DL it went to DLP and wasn't actually "dismatled" as the bulb-buyers were told.

so where are they getting pieces for rides currently running?

"excuse me Mr. Test Track ride op? the front tire of this car is missing."

"don't worry about it kid."

"um....okay."

On test track they replace the tires weekly because they get worn down.

IDK about the dumbo or peter pan ones tho.

When the rides get referbished they often replace these type of items with new ones or new parts. For the upcoming Splash Mountain pin they are cutting up an old ear off one of the Brer Rabbits from the ride. I wonder what they are going to do with Spaceship Earth's...maybe a title off the globe?
