bert425
never been to Osaka, but seen pictures of this wheel, and it looks like it would be a very interesting ride. it's been closed for almost a decade, but about to reopen! http://www.cnn.com/travel/article/dotonbori-ferris-wheel-osaka-japan/?iid=ob_lockedrail_bottomlarge
SharkTums
Don Quijote has not had the best track record for rides in their stores, but I'm pretty happy to see this potentially reopening!
DoinItForTheFame
...CNN reporting... --------------------------------- In all seriousness, this looks like a REALLY strange contraption!! It took me a minute to realize you ride the ride facing out/forward. Also, this reminds me a bit of a torture device!
Dombot
I remember seeing this on the Intamin website a few years back... looks fun, if not a bit... odd.
Jetstar2
No effing way! I have stood in front of that thing just wishing it still worked a couple of times now. I'll be there again in a little over a year, I hope so much that it still works. I always understood that it was determined there was a risk of catastrophic failure... so uh.. I hope they fixed that. Jetstar2
The view at night just has to be amazing. Here's side angle of it for context: and for additional context here's a link to an awesome high rez pic of Osaka where you can play Where's Waldo with the ride: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/28/Central_Osaka.jpg
djcoastermark
I don't get the lap bar on a wheel that takes 15 minutes to complete 1 circuit. Odd.
DoinItForTheFame
I don't get the lap bar on a wheel that takes 15 minutes to complete 1 circuit. Odd. Discourages/prevents people from standing up?
bert425
I don't get the lap bar on a wheel that takes 15 minutes to complete 1 circuit. Odd. looking at the design, it seems to be a narrow car that the seats face out the front -- meaning the row of 4 seats is what rotates within the "outer cart" as it moves around the oval. so likely the lap bar is to secure the folks while the inner car is sliding around within the outer cart?
