bluestreak
Maybe you can answer another question lol. What's the parks rain policy? Do they shut things down at the first sign of rain or are they pretty lenient?
ytterbiumanalyst
Pretty lenient on everything but Powder Keg if it's just rain. If there's lightning, everything but the train and Fire in the Hole shuts down. Sometimes Flooded Mine closes in lightning, sometimes not. It is mostly indoors, but there's a section where it goes outside and there's a lake there. Cave is always open unless the cave is flooded. If rain is impending, I'd get on Powder Keg now. bluestreak
I opted for a front row ride on Outlaw Run instead

bluestreak
Finally back to the hotel after a long day. After the park closed we went to Bigfoot on the Strip. More on that place later.  Anyways, we seemed to have figured out the layout of the park today but there's still so many different pathways and different ways to go to get to certain places.  Today we decided to check out the cave. I'm sure you've all read about the cave. It's really beautiful. Very cool how influential it was in building up the surrounding area. More back story about it was told. Lots of interesting information given by the tour guide!  A ton more rides on the awesome outlaw run and wildfire again today. And plenty of rides on the others too.  We were there for 2 full days and I still feel like we didn't fully explore the park. There's so many different paths and things to look at. It's truly a remarkable park.  Scorecard: Outlaw Run 11x Wildfire 5x Powder Keg 3x Fire in the Hole 1x Giant Barn Swing 1x S&S double shot 1x Thunderation 2x Flooded Mine 1x Grandfather's Mansion 1x  So that's it from Silver Dollar City. Who knows, maybe we'll be back next year. That new ride is looking stunning.  As mentioned earlier we also stopped by Bigfoot on the Strip for a couple hours. It's a fun little tourist trap type place that seems like a dime a dozen in the Branson and Pigeon Forge Area. This one had a really good drop tower, a slingshot ride that was recently filmed by TPR (you can probably find it on YouTube or the front page of this site I assume), a maze with a jump into a big air mattress thing, and a shooting dark ride just like Plants vs Zombies at Carowinds. Only I think this one was better. They also had mini golf which we didn't do.  The drop tower and slingshot were both a ton of fun! Rode the Drop Tower 5 times and the slingshot 4 times.  Fun place, worth stopping by if in the area. They also had really nice staff.  So tomorrow we will be driving to Six Flags once again then after the park closes we'll be driving part of the way to Holiday World and staying overnight in Illinois.  The pictures today are mostly of Marvel Cave. Pictures (especially from my cell phone that didn't really like taking pictures in the weird lighting) don't do it justice. It's really an amazing sight. Thanks again for reading! This is big foot. One side is the drop tower and the other is the sling shot.
CaptainUnknown
I just checked out the website and prices for this place and HOLY FOTHERMUCKING DONKEYSH!T $24 for unlimited slingshot/drop tower rides when a single ride on each is 20/12 respectively. How are the lines?
bluestreak
No lines whatsoever
bluestreak
Checked into our hotel right between six flags and holiday world.  Decent day at Six Flags, not crowded and the weather was great. Really confused about the 6 o'clock closing on a Friday though. During the week I could understand but it seems like they're closing way too early for the amount of people in the park. Plenty of school aged kids there too.  But anyhow, it was a pretty decent few hours. Were kinda annoyed to see them shut down some rides like the train and food stands way before the already way too early closing. But, I guess that's how they do things.  Scorecard: American Thunder 6x Batman 2x Mr. Freeze 1x Screaming Eagle 1x Justice League 2x (We used the single rider que) Boss 1x  So tomorrow we finish the rest of the drive to Holiday World then stay there all day until they close at 10. Really looking forward to some night rides!  Not as many pictures in this update since I already have most of the pictures I wanted from the park. Anybody know what this was from? bluestreak
Trio report coming tomorrow from Holiday World. Too tired to type it today! Great day though!
bluestreak
Alright as I stand in line for Lightning Run at Kentucky Kingdom, I'll type up the holiday world report.  Let me first start by saying that coming into the day, Holiday World is my favorite amusement park. And my home park is Cedar Point so that gives you an idea of how much I love the place. There's just something about it that I love. Even though the park was pretty crowded since it was a Saturday, my opinion is no different. It's such a fantastic park.  Even with the crowds we still got plenty of rides in and didn't wait much over 20 minutes for anything besides Voyage a couple times. Seems like most people went to the waterpark.  I had heard that Voyage was running a little rough this year but honestly I thought it, and everything else in the park was running very, very well. Voyage was definitely running better than it was last year when I rode it.  We only had one meal at the park and it was the standard Thanksgiving dinner at Plymouth Rock Café which was fantastic.  Service everywhere was very fast and friendly.  We ended the night with a pitch black ride on Thunderbird and then 3 pitch black rides on Voyage. One of which in the front seat. Voyage in the front seat at night is something to behold. Right up there with beast as the best night time ride experience.  Such a fun day at the park despite the crowds. Can't wait for my next visit, whenever that may be.  Scorecard: Voyage 6x Thunderbird 3x Legend 2x Raven 2x Gobbler Getaway 1x Crows Nest 1x Liberty Launch 1x  As I said, we are at Kentucky Kingdom today. Trip report should be up tonight or tomorrow.  Not many pictures since we have been to the park every year since Thunderbird opened so I have plenty of pictures. Thanks for reading! Comments are appreciated! Finally a park that's open till
ytterbiumanalyst
Totally agree. As much as I love both parks, I'd take Holiday World over Cedar Point. It's all the little things they do right. On paper HW seems like it's not that great a place, but the more time I spend in it, the more I love it. Glad you enjoyed your day, and you have some great photos too! prozach626
Anybody know what this was from? It's from the old Hanibarrels ride, which was located near where the Aqua Twist is. It sat SBNO as an eyesore in the park for years, before finally being removed.
bluestreak
^Interesting. Thanks for the info. They make for nice little benches haha.  Anyways Kentucky Kingdom. Just a very nice little park. Rides are fun. Park is beautiful. There's parts of it that scream at you that it used to be a six flags park, and there's also remnants of old queue lines and footers but I think that kinda adds to the charm of the place.  Other than that there's not a whole lot to say. Lightning Run and Storm Chaser are an amazing one-two punch, and thunder run is a great ride too. Especially with the new train and extensive retracking they did. Didn't ride T3. We planned on it but the line was way too long and not worth waiting for what might be the worst coaster I've ever ridden.  The park was actually surprisingly crowded but that kinda made me happy because it's nice to know that they are making money and doing well for themselves.  We decided to leave a little early and try to get up to Kings Island before it closed for the evening since we did everything at KK that we wanted to do.  We made it just in time for one ride on Mystic Timbers. Always a ton of fun.  Oh and the out of state deal is fantastic. $30 for 2 Days and free drinks.  Scorecard: Storm Chaser 5x Lightning Run 3x Thunder Run 1x Sky Catcher 1x Flying Dutchman 1x  Kings Island tomorrow then the drive home. It's been a great trip. A full day at Kings Island is a great way to end it.  Again not many pictures since I already have a lot from the park the last 2 years.  Thanks for reading! bluestreak
Ok the final report of the trip: Kings Island. Kings Island is basically my second home park since it's a rather short 3.5 hour drive from my house. We usually go a few times a year so there's nothing new here for us. But, we still love the park.  Kings Island is such a beautiful park, especially around the center near the Tower Gardens. I never get sick of it.  We were there opening until the (yet again, too early for the crowds) 8 o'clock closing.  We were able to get on quite a lot though thanks to a game that awards front of the line passes. So despite the rather heavy crowds for a monday, we got on plenty.  I'm a huge fan of the Beast and will usually defend it but having just ridden Voyage, there's really no comparison. Yes beast is still a fun ride and always worth multiple rides, even during the day, it's just not doing it for me anymore. Maybe I'd feel differently if I hadn't just gotten off of Voyage but my point still stands.  Diamondback is still running amazing and the air in the back is outstanding. Pro tip: Don't look behind you during the splashdown if you're in the very last seat. You will get a face full of water. And it hurts.  Mystic Timbers is still running like it did opening day. I wish prowler was this smooth. Such a great ride. Definitely very rerideable.  Banshee I think is still my favorite invert. So much fun and has every element I love in an inverted coaster. Plus it's got a little bit of intensity which was severely lacking with Patriot earlier on in the trip.  Other than that, Vortex still sucks. Racer has gotten better than when I rode it earlier in the year. Firehawk and Flight of Fear are once and done coasters.  We didn't bother with invertigo and Back Lot had way too long of a line and we would rather get another ride on diamondback than ride it haha.  The bat was down all day and I believe it's been down for over a week. Anybody know more?  We did use our meal plan twice while there but we ate at Skyline and Subway so I can't really speak for their food.  We also checked out the stunt show they have going on. Kinda cool but I really can't get into shows.  Scorecard: Diamondback 3x Mystic Timbers 4x Beast 3x Vortex 2x Windseeker 1x Red Racer 1x Firehawk 1x Flight of Fear 1x Adventure Express 2x Banshee 3x Drop Tower 1x Monster 1x KI&MV Railroad 1x  I didn't take too many pictures so most will be from the train ride since I have yet to get pictures of Mystic Timbers from the train.  Thanks so much for reading all through this trip report. I had a lot of fun typing all of this up! Can't wait to see what next year brings us for our big trip.

DavidB
Thanks for the trip report! Enjoyable to read and interesting to hear your take on some of the parks I've visited, and even moreso some of the ones I want to visit. I intend to visit KI in October for the Foo Fighters concert on Friday night, and KI on Saturday. I also would like to get to SDC for the first time by the end of the season, and it's always helpful to hear the ride reviews and tidbits relevant to a park visit. Great job! Â few weeks ago I did The Beast at night front row, then a day or so later did The Voyage at night front row. I also like The Voyage better. I also rode in the back on the Voyage the next day and that was brutal for me after the final tunnel. But, will never pass up a night ride on The Beast. I really like the helix. DavidB
^ I've been to KI a couple times and definitely enjoyed it, but I was there in maybe 1994 and again when Son of Beast still had the loop, so needless to say it's been a looong time and am definitely looking forward to all the great new stuff since then. I will definitely be getting Fastlane for a Haunt Saturday, especially since Prozach and others have mentioned how awesome it is at KI. Never been to SDC though and really look forward to checking it out.
TBpony414
Fun TR! You really hit up a lot of different parks and the only one I've been to of them is Kings Island. The last time I was there though was in May of 2000 when Son Of Beast opened. My family went to CP to wait in a 4 hour line for Millennium Force and then we drove to KI and waited 3.5 hours for SOB two days later. Great memories but things have really changed at KI since then! Is Fire In The Hole similar to Blazing Fury at Dollywood? Now that I've been to DW I'm really interested in going to SDC as well. No SDC or DW report is complete without cinnamon bread so you got some 'splaining to do!
