ParkTrips Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 Here's some new stuff on site: .. and about a month earlier than I was told to expect!! 8)
F1shy Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 *cries* I was just there... 2 months ago... I lived 30 mins away from the park... NOW I LIVE HALFWAY ACROSS THE WORLD!!! WAHH!!! Well, *sniff*, at least NOW I live 30 mins away from Expedition GeForce!
CoasterCrazy Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 This is awesome news! 8) I can't wait until April 1, 2006! How long will it be before the coaster starts going vertilcal?
chauncey Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 It's nice to see them using the magnetic brakes on this, too. I wonder when we'll see an all magnetic-brake B&M?
Kroger8 Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 Hooray! I can't wait for this ride! ^^I'd say it would be a several weeks, I'm not sure what the progress is on the ride so far, does anyone know if they've started pouring footers yet?
nicktheride Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 Hooray! I can't wait for this ride! ^^I'd say it would be a several weeks, I'm not sure what the progress is on the ride so far, does anyone know if they've started pouring footers yet? Yeah. They have started pouring the footers... http://www.sixflags.com/parks/overgeorgia/ParkPress/GOLIATHconstruction.html
ParkTrips Posted October 1, 2005 Author Posted October 1, 2005 (edited) ugh their photos suck. I have a few pics from three weeks ago: I'll try to update my site soon since I haven't done so in a month  I think it will go vertical before Thanksgiving. Edited April 18, 2017 by ParkTrips
BiCoastal Kid Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 *cries* I was just there... 2 months ago... I lived 30 mins away from the park... NOW I LIVE HALFWAY ACROSS THE WORLD!!! WAHH!!! Well, *sniff*, at least NOW I live 30 mins away from Expedition GeForce! *pats back* 'tis okay, I'd say it's a fair trade, but we'll be sure to tell you all about it. Perhaps you could visit the "good" ole US of A again.
CoasterCrazy Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 I took some photos of the island infront of the park about two weeks ago, a lot of work has been done since I took these photos.
CedarPoint6 Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 Woo, first post here... hi everyone! Well, as SFOG is my home park (I'm over in Athens), I am very exctied about this ride. It looks like some incredible airtime and a great helix, speed turn, and overbank. I may get to ride it April 1st, but I'll definately be there with ACE on the 16th! Good to see some track coming in.
CoasterCrazy Posted October 2, 2005 Posted October 2, 2005 I thought spring fling was in March! :? I hope I can go to it next year, ERT on Goliath should be a lot of fun!
ParkTrips Posted October 2, 2005 Author Posted October 2, 2005 It's scheduled for April 22nd next year
CedarPoint6 Posted October 2, 2005 Posted October 2, 2005 Really? Last I heard from the coordinator it was going to be the 16th... I'll have to change that on my calendar then. They said in an e-mail that there would be other exclusive stuff involving the construction of Goliath, so it will be interesting to see what they're planning. Anyway, hope it goes vertical soon.
SharkTums Posted October 2, 2005 Posted October 2, 2005 Wow, I can't believe how far along it is already! Makes me worry a bit about when SFMM will get their B&M done.
coasterguy618 Posted October 2, 2005 Posted October 2, 2005 I really like the color sheme, the goliath, titan and goliath(SFMM) color schemes are my favorite. I also really like the layout. BTW, they are really moving along on this coaster!
BiCoastal Kid Posted October 2, 2005 Posted October 2, 2005 I like this Goliath better than the other orange Goliaths because it DOESN'T HAVE A BREAK RUN.
woah_killa Posted October 2, 2005 Posted October 2, 2005 can't wait! i go once a month. i hope it has a lot of airtime unlike some other b&m's...
DATman Posted October 2, 2005 Posted October 2, 2005 ^^^^dont forget, this ride doesn't need nearly as much land clearing as the one at SFMM what were all those wheels for?
DATman Posted October 2, 2005 Posted October 2, 2005 ^^^^dont forget, this ride doesn't need nearly as much land clearing as the one at SFMM what were all those wheels for? oh, and ^^I personally like the brake run for 2 reasons 1) when near the front, you really hang out of the car on the slow part of the drop after the MCBR 2) imagine the helix without it
willski Posted October 2, 2005 Posted October 2, 2005 Those wheels are part of the storage track. Note the rails at the beginning of the track piece, then notice how it is only wheels. These wheels roll along the train spine/brake pad area and move the train down the storage track.
Blazen_AZN Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 Hey, [apperently] goliath's mcbr didnt slow you down when it first opened. so i guess the helix was tolerable, i like golitah's helix though, unlike many coasters, the high g-forces didnt hurt your legs... and only one person's brain failed :?
tngdiablo Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 can't wait! i go once a month. i hope it has a lot of airtime unlike some other b&m's... Nitro much?
