Rollercoaster Rider Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 I'm going to Silver Dollar City and Branson overall in December. Here's what I need to know What's a Good Place to Eat and What are some must-do things (Besides Silver Dollar City) and what rides to hit first. Thanks, In Advanced
cfc Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 ^What Elissa said. Here's a link to our SDC page in TPR's Park Index: http://www.themeparkreview.com/parks/park.php?pageid=212. The Park Guide might come in handy.
jray21 Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Anywhere you see food, stop whatever you are doing and buy some.
odene497 Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 I'm not sure if Thunderation still runs backwards cars (I feel like I read somewhere they aren't anymore...), but if it does, grab one of those for your first ride. It's really cool. Also, Wildfire's drop is pretty steep, try out the back for some great air. Powder Keg is just awesome all over. And yes, eat lots and lots.
Moose Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 If you like nature or it's a miserably hot day make sure to see the cave!
mightbeawannabe Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 If you're coming from up north of Branson, Lambert's may be a fun idea-and there's LOTS of fun stuff to do in Branson, depending on how cold it is. I would say it's a what-you-see-is-what-you-get in some parts (this does not mean to throw common sense out the window). Definitely eat whilst at SDC. It's in your best interest to hit Powderkeg up early, and Wildfire only draws long lines if Powderkeg is suffering from mechanical difficulties.
chadster Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Not sure when you are going but I just got back. In the winter, the shows at SDC are the big draw. If you want to see the Dickens Christmas show get to the Opreahouse early or purchase a butt in line show pass for around $10. Beware, the older crowd will run you over. Food wise, the skillets are amazing, but they offer three buffet choices when you enter the park to your right (once you go thru the gift shop with the cavern tour) Each a different price point, each very good. Also there is a bakery about center of the park that will let you have a taste of cinnamon bread. The kiddie coaster shuts down at 42 degrees, Wildfire and Powder Keg shut down at 39.9 degrees, so ride them early if the forecast is for a cold evening. The only other notable ride that shuts down is the Giant Swing and thats at 38 I believe. Oh, and check out Grandpa's Mansion, trust me, it's cheesy fun. In town they have the Titanic exhibit, several drive thru (pay to drive thru) light displays, a butterfly human nature museum thingy, three outlet shopping centers, and shows galore. Some shows go dark mid-December. There will also be a handful of FEC's open and if the temps are right the go-carts will be running, but not all FEC's will be operating.
