robbalvey Posted September 8, 2005 Posted September 8, 2005 Seems there has been a change with the DNS settings...and the webhost never told me!!!! So now the site will take 24 hours to propogate to the correct DNS settings. At least you can still get in through the link on the front page. --Robb "Frustrated." Alvey NOTE! If you get the message "This board is not available check back later" your post DID work....the site it just trying to redirect back to the site that is down. You'll have to hit BACK on your browser to the viewforum page and hit refresh or go to this URL: http://storm.dnsprotect.com/~themepar/forum/index.php
robbalvey Posted September 8, 2005 Author Posted September 8, 2005 BTW, can people please let me know when they can see the main site: http://www.themeparkreview.com working again? At least then I'll know if the new DNS settings are taking effect. Thanks! --Robb
SteveC Posted September 8, 2005 Posted September 8, 2005 no probs logging in now - thanks for sending the link earlier -and I can access through the normal route (your message comes up but then I'm straight in when I hit forum)
CoasterFanatic Posted September 8, 2005 Posted September 8, 2005 ^ Same here. I am resolving themeparkreview.com as 65.254.50.194
robbalvey Posted September 8, 2005 Author Posted September 8, 2005 ^ So does that mean that 65.254.50.194 is working? That kind of has me a bit worried.
coasters 4 me Posted September 8, 2005 Posted September 8, 2005 It is working for me. Not the thingy you posted above! What is that thingy anyway? IP address or something?
Token Yankee Guy Posted September 8, 2005 Posted September 8, 2005 I can access the boards, but I get the notice that the website is down when I try and get to the main site.
CoasterFanatic Posted September 8, 2005 Posted September 8, 2005 ^ So does that mean that 65.254.50.194 is working? No. That is just where the www.themeparkreview.com domain is resolving to on my machine. Any attempts to switch the path "storm.dnsprotect.com/~themepar/" with "www.themeparkreview.com" result in a redirect back to the forums on "storm.dnsprotect.com/~themepar/"
robbalvey Posted September 8, 2005 Author Posted September 8, 2005 ^ Ok, good. At some point it should switch back over to the correct IP. --Robb
Sean Menefee Posted September 8, 2005 Posted September 8, 2005 No problems here with the main site, just getting the re-direct link you posted when I log into the boards, (it took me to westcoaster for whatever reason the first time I clicked but Im not having the issue anymore.) So far so good dude.
Buckeye Brad Posted September 8, 2005 Posted September 8, 2005 Well this morning around 8:00 eastern time I tried the main page and had a time warp back to last March. The what's new, video downloads, and forums had content from March 2005, nothing newer. Actually there were just a few current forum topics, but everything else was March.
robbalvey Posted September 8, 2005 Author Posted September 8, 2005 ^ Yeah, that was the problem. The webhost started pointing the site to a server which contained a MUCH older version. The correct DNS settings are working here at my office, so I'm hoping that other people are starting to see it work too. The way you can tell is go to the front page: http://www.themeparkreview.com and if the site comes up correctly, it's working again! If you get the message "site currently down" then it's not. You might need to refresh the front page to check. --Robb
CoasterFanatic Posted September 8, 2005 Posted September 8, 2005 All set. It is now resolving to 72.9.255.186
robbalvey Posted September 8, 2005 Author Posted September 8, 2005 ^ Thank goodness! I really hope my webhost woes are finally over! --Robb "Honestly, they have been MUCH better this time around!" Alvey
Sean Menefee Posted September 8, 2005 Posted September 8, 2005 (edited) Looking good at the Mac lab here at school now. Back to the wonderful world of Quark I go..... 8) Edited September 8, 2005 by Sean Menefee
Sir Clinksalot Posted September 8, 2005 Posted September 8, 2005 We are in the wrong business. We should start a WebHosting company and have it be GOOD. Sorry you are continuing to have problems. Hopefully this will be the last one ... at least for awhile.
FishyFish Posted September 8, 2005 Posted September 8, 2005 Been OK here for a few hours now. When WILL the time travel technology be perfected? I'd like to go back further than March....
Erik Johnson Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 Though with all the problems earlier, one neat thing that came out of all of this was the easy access to all those wonderful older Photo TRs which I never seen yet.
OldJJman Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 Robb-- Thanks for the quick emails and truth about what's going on. You guys are really running a quality site. It shows. Jeff
