Airtime&Gravity
The report on the 2010 season has been released. Total attendance for the top 25 parks worldwide 189.1 million, an increase of 1.9 percent from 2009. Total attendance for the top 20 theme parks in North America 123.6 million, an increase of 1.8 percent from 2009. Total attendance for the top 20 European theme parks 83.3 million, a decrease of 1.8 percent from 2009. Total attendance for the top 15 Asian theme parks 56.3 million, up 7.3 percent from 2009. Total attendance for the top 10 theme parks in Mexico and Latin America 22.2 million, up 8.2 percent from 2009. (Since 2006, total attendance for the top 10 Mexico and Latin America theme parks has grown by 20.5 percent.) Total attendance for the top 20 worldwide waterparks 15.1 million, an increase of 7.3 percent from 2009. (Since 2006, total attendance for the top 20 worldwide waterparks has grown by 27.4 percent.) Total attendance for the top 20 waterparks in the U.S. 13.3 million, an increase of 2.9 percent from 2009. Full Report While I might be biased, I was shocked to see SFGAM have the third highest percent change in attendance in North America after Islands of Adventure and Universal Hollywood with a 10.2% increase in attendance. BaMiTsPaT
I find it interesting that of the four parks at the Walt Disney World Resort, Animal Kingdom is the only park that saw an increase, while the other three saw decreased crowds.
Jew
I edited the title to be a more accurate reflection of the data. Very cool information. BTW, who knew Kong would drive attendance so much for USH? 5,000,000 guests is pretty impressive for them!
RCFreak
It still fascinates me that Southern California doesn't really have a premier Waterpark (Disney or otherwise).
Hayzle
I'm impressed with my hope waterpark Splish Splash, only opened from June to August and they raked in 500,000 people thats pretty incredible for that little park!
gforce532
I edited the title to be a more accurate reflection of the data. Very cool information. BTW, who knew Kong would drive attendance so much for USH? 5,000,000 guests is pretty impressive for them! I know, we were talking about how Universal was doing really good with Harry Potter. And then USH just kinda snuck in there with a 25% increase. Of course they did do a great job at marketing it with all the King Kong posters all over southern california. This makes me wonder what the outcome of Transformers is going to be if King Kong did that well.
Jerrykoala2112
I'm glad Six Flags Great America got a huge increase in attendance last year. It had the same attendance as Great Adventure, which is amazing! I still wonder how much of an increase Universal Studios will have this year with Harry Potter! It only opened halfway through the year last year and it still saw a huge increase!
