A.J. Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 (edited) With the Game Exchange going live in the VERY near future, the whole Games Forum team is expecting an increase in traffic throughout the forum as well as an increase in "new" players. That brings us to an important question - what aspects of the game they're playing would be "most beneficial" for new players to learn? That question brings us to this thread. What sort of tutorials and/or tips would you like to see published to the forum/exchange? We're not sure entirely how it's going to work out at this moment (the exchange itself isn't live yet), but we wanted to get an opinion as to what our community wants to see. We especially want to hear from the "new" players we have now! Our team has a very wide background in the games, but if someone else (or yourself) wrote a tutorial that you feel is beneficial, feel free to request that it be re-published (giving the original author most of the credit as well) by simply posting in this thread with what you want to see. ~AJR RollerCoaster Tycoon none yet RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 Scenario Creation Easily do-able. mightbeawannabe Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Just a personal request: A NL cartexture tutorial. I've tried toerti's and I must've missed something important in it. I think there are many, many others who'd like to have the know-how too.
SoCalCoasters Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 This may not be possible, but for RCT3, post tutorials on how to make CS, CTRs, and CFRs. I know the last one is a little outlandish to ask for but...
Coupon Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 I think I can make some hacking tutorials for RCT2....
gci2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Newton 2 and Object Creator tutorials would be great. Also would love some easy to follow modeling tutorials for RCT3 cs.
mightbeawannabe Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 ^Those would be right here. Every element is completely different for each coaster you make, these only give you a rough idea. Trial and failure is the best way to teach yourself.
A.J. Posted February 27, 2011 Author Posted February 27, 2011 (edited) There's a problem - Entropy's tutorials, while informative and exceptionally helpful, throw you right into the usage of Newton2 without going over the UI and essentially why you make the changes that you make. I'm going to throw some of my own suggestions onto the list as well. Edited February 27, 2011 by A.J.
Six Flags Enthuseast Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 For RCT2, I found this tutorial on track merging on CF, and I think it's useful. www.coasterforce.com/RCT_2_Hacking_and_Trainers_-_Track_Merging You need to have 8cars in order to use it, but if you have it and know how to use it, it's very helpful in learning how to merge tracks.
djbrcace1234 Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 What about Mastersax's foliage tutorial? Already being added. Any other RCT2/ RCT related tutorials?
tiger01 Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Rct3- Building ShyGuys main street set buildings and shyguys Alpine village set 3. That would be useful.
AlmereStars Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 ^I could make a tutorial on how to build with the Shyguys-sets.. used those a lot
mcjaco Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 ^ Doesn't he have one? I know he did one on Atari at one point. Honestly, building is subjective for each person, so I'm not sure that would be a priority Tutorial.
A113 Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 I can definitely do tutorials for NoLimits, Object Creator, Construction Kit, and newton2.
the ghost Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 All right, totally about to make myself feel really stupid, but I would love a RCT custom supports tutorial. Everyone seems to catch on, but it is the one MAJOR NCS thing I have never quite figured out... and I have experimented quite a bit. Nothing insane,l just where to use each piece or something like that...otherwise its VERY tedious work...at least for me.
