robbalvey
I downloaded it, opened it, rode it, uploaded it, downloaded the new one, and rode the new one. I'm not having any problems. Safari 5.0, Mac OS X 10.6.5. I downloaded it with no problem also. I'm also able to upload it. We are both on macs so if someone that has windows can try to upload that same file to see if it works I would appreciate it. Thank you! --Robb
A.J.
Lucky for you, this guy's got a Windows partition (How else would I make neat RCT stuff? ) I downloaded the patched Track Packager. I was able to download, ride, re-upload, re-download, and re-ride the file successfully. Internet Explorer 8, Windows 7 Professional. I did get a missing DLL file error the first time I tried to open it in the packager, I don't know if that was AJClarke's error to begin with, or it could have been the packager's fault, I don't know. All I know is that it happened. I downloaded the missing DLL and everything was working fine. EDIT: Proof of success. Resized, but success no less. robbalvey
I'm just trying to figure out why when he uploads the file, it uploads at 0 bytes. I haven't seen anyone else have this problem, so unless it starts to crop up somewhere else, I have to think the problem might be on AJClarke's end. mcjaco
Only two PM's guys. Honestly, I'm with Robb at this point. We can forget this whole thing unless people start stepping up.
BRTeller
I'll step up and offer what I can. I'll be able to test RCT2, and RCT3. If you guys need help with either of those games, I can do testing. I don't want to see this die due to lack of participation, since I don't want to see RCT2 die off again due to lack of community support. Everyone does realize this is how the game died off the first time? RCT3 didn't really play a huge factor in it's popularity till later on, since most of the community couldn't play it due to lag issues. Games die off because we don't have enough sites like this one willing to support them. Everyone knows TPR isn't going anywhere anytime soon. So I think we should take full advantage of what there offering here. Working with databases like they are is no easy task, I've done it before, and I can say first hand it takes a lot of work. They have to do most of the coding themselves, and they have to rely on us to test it out.
sfgamguy
I've downloaded about 6 rct2 parks and all of them have worked fine.
robbalvey
What we need is for people to do the following: - Upload as many files as possible (and report back here telling us you've done so, even if there aren't any problems) - Rank as many files as you can. Just so we can test the system. - Download as many files as you can, so we can spot any errors. Tell you what we could really use - is someone (or a group of people as a combined effort) to download and rank EVERY FILE that is in the exchange so far, just to test them out. How about if I offer some DVDs as payment? The more you help us out...the more DVDs I'll throw your way! Maybe even some cool park stuff I have in our offices too! --Robb
BRTeller
I'll start with ALL rct2 stuff and work from there, and rank them. I'll report back here once I've finished, then probably do the same with all RCT3 files, then if I get noLimits working again I'll see what I can do with it. I'll also upload all my finished parks, I've been meaning to do so somewhere anyways. I'll do my best to keep you updated tonight, and the next few days if it takes that long. It'll be slow because I need to delete them and the parks I download because my partition is small, but I'll start on it.
gci2011
So far I've had no trouble with the exchange. I've downloaded several NoLimits tracks with no problems, and no problems ranking them either. I'll try uploading a few tracks of my own that aren't already in the forums. BRTeller
Would you also like me to upload images to the files without them? Also how should I do this? Post them here, send them to you, or is there a different way?
A.J.
Here's what I've found from downloading all the RCT2 files on the exchange without screenshots: The three saved games - ashbrook_waters_park_125, legend_city_resort_293, and yorkshire_dales_100 - all contained invalid data, and I could not open them. The latter two parks are also sized at 0KB, even though they are saved games. The three .zip files - stairway_to_the_clouds_183, xpress_146, and zippin_pippin_135, all are sized at 0KB and contain nothing in them. The four tracks - 630_Aeroplane_Dips, 631_Hurricane, 633_Turn_Of_The_Century, and whip_107 - all work correctly. I'm assuming the saved games and .zip files I downloaded were ones uploaded early in the beta process? They have number suffixes and the first three tracks have number prefixes. Post them here, send them to you, or is there a different way? If there are files that do not have images, download the file, take the screen shot, and then post the screen shot in this forum with the associated file URL so that Matt or I know what files to add the screen shots to. Thank you for doing this. This is a HUGE help! I'm hoping that once other people start to see you guys help out, others will join in. --Robb "It will be like a big TPR Game Exchange help orgy!" Midgetman82
I've already downloaded a few RCT3 parks with no screenshots to test them out, so far many need to change their listing from a track file to a park file. I'm still downloading. Edited December 16, 2010 by Midgetman82
BRTeller
^^^I also downloaded the tracks, and they all worked fine as well. I'll try opening the parks your talking about. It's either they didn't include all the rides in the zip, or they didn't check the export objects button. It has nothing to do with the database. I haven't had any trouble so far rating or downloading any files. Also to avoid the missing object issue, maybe some more regulations should be added to upload files once beta testing is over. EDIT: AJ did you get the screens from the tracks? If not I took one of each, just let me know.
A.J.
No, I didn't take any of those shots, I was busy trying to pick out the problem with the 0KB files. Back to making those banners then! I've noticed that lots of files are showing up as tracks as well. Perhaps you should get rid of the Track/Park/Scenery drop down and add it to the list above it - so that the list would read: RCT Park RCT Track RCT2 Park RCT2 Scenery RCT2 Track RCT3 Park RCT3 Scenery RCT3 Track NoLimits Track Scream Machines Track But, it could make the menu more confusing. Maybe selection bubbles instead of a list?
BRTeller
Here's a little list I'm working on as I test all the files. I added some notes to each one with any issues I've found. All seem to be downloading, ranking, and working fine. Although, information listed for them is wrong, or missing in areas. More of a user issue, but I figured I'd document what I can. RCT2 ------- Turn of the Century - Track - Worked - B&M's Galaxy - Worked - Track - B&M Hyper (Not specified in description) Aeroplane Dips - Worked - Track - Wooden (Not specified in description) Thrill Court - Worked - Listed that it requires Time Twister, and Wacky Worlds, confirmed that it does not. BRTeller
^No problem. I've run into a problem, the three last files I've tried downloading are not working. They are from three different users, and all come up with the same invalid data error. Theres a chance that it is the file, but it's starting to look slim. I'll try to look into the best I can, also here's the updated list. RCT2 Turn of the Century - Track - Worked - Corkscrew (Not specified in description)turn B&M's Galaxy - Worked - Track - B&M Hyper (Not specified in description) Aeroplane Dips - Worked - Track - Wooden (Not specified in description) Thrill Court - Worked - Listed that it requires Time Twister, and Wacky Worlds, confirmed that it does not. Saw Dust - Worked - Track CCCP - Worked - Park Futurama - Worked - Park/Design Astor Place - Worked - Park Bumbly Beach - Worked - Park Melling Park - Download worked, park contains invalid data - Park - It's not missing data, it's invalid data. Which normally means the file is corrupted somehow. It's a file issue, not a database issue. Mysterious Island - Same as above El Toro - Same as above - Other notes, I'm starting to think that the database may have something to do with it now. They are not working, and posted from three different people. EDIT: Looked into it more, and discovered that when I download it from safari, and open it straight from my downloads with parallels is when the file goes corrupt. This time I used firefox on my windows partition. I also believe this may have been why A.J. was having trouble. So I guess were already figuring out some issues, and why they happen. I have no idea why it didn't do it to the first few files. Edited December 16, 2010 by BRTeller

AJClarke0912
I was thinking it'd be on my end somehow. Just don't KNOW how...I mean everybody on NoLimits-Exchange downloaded it all just fine. You can see by this entry here that many people downloaded it and commented. I hate that I'm making this is such a hassle, because it seems like something that's a nightmare to fix. Maybe I'll just use external site links from now on while others use the exchange, because it seems to be working fine for other people. I guess I'll be up for testing soon...but maybe I'll just end up testing my OWN file. Edited December 16, 2010 by AJClarke0912
robbalvey
^AJ, Please read my last comment. You don't need to keep linking to other sites to show us how it works or doesn't work somewhere else. We KNOW that! Help us figure out why it doesn't work HERE. Have you done any of the things we asked? Have you tried to upload any other files? Have you tried to upload it as a zip file? It's not a hassle or a nightmare, but honestly you're kind of making it one. Please just try the different thing we have asked you to do. If you don't want to help, that is fine. But once we have our own exchange, we most likely won't allow people to use a link to another site to post their files. That would be stupid. What is the point of us developing one if you're just going to link to somewhere else? So please, all I ask - help us test. Try to upload a different file. Try to upload it as a zip file. Try to help us narrow down why your files upload as 0 bytes, and everyone else can upload just fine. Thank you. Ace Of Spades
I've been meaning to do this since the Beta started, but my NoLimits has been acting up a little as of late. Got it to work though, so I grabbed a few screenshots for some screenshot-challenged rides. (All page listings are current as of 12/15/2010 at 6:22 PM) Rollerdude's Timberwolf-Page 2 Jimbobcoaster's Knotted Forest-Page 2 Jimbobcoaster's Gravity Lake-Page 3 dog's The American Eagle-Page 3 StricklandCC's Rampage-Page 3 Rollerdude's Hurricane-Page 4 I'll try to get more done in a bit. Hope this helps! EDIT: These downloads all work fine, too. Edited December 16, 2010 by Ace Of Spades
AJClarke0912
Oops, sorry I was being stupid. I already apologized that I was making this a hassle, so I'm sorry if it's becoming that. I didn't see the last comment. I'll try another file tonight, but it might not be a Track Package, so the success rate may not be accurate. Who knows... EDIT: http://www.themeparkreview.com/game_exchange/track.php?id=666 Well, Bergsprung worked. That's funny. At least we know that my Track Packages work (minus Il Pitone, of course). EDIT2: http://www.themeparkreview.com/game_exchange/track.php?id=667 One of my non-Track Packages isn't working though. It's confusing it with a Track Package for some reason, and therefore coming up with a bunch of errors. I'll see if I can fix it...it's probably something on my end.
