RideOpMarcus Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Not that this procedure is an exact science or anything. I'm just wondering who in the coaster enthusiast community has claims of being in the top tier of experienced coaster riding (a.k.a. credit whores). I'm looking for a top ten whether you guys can throw me some names or give me a link.
ParkTrips Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Jeff Johnson (OldJJMan here @ TPR) has exactly 13,910 credits. I think he wins!
robbalvey Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 There is a pretty good list here, but it should be noted Robb and Elissa probably fall somewhere in this top 10: http://www.coaster-count.com/ranking.xhtml Hmm, seems that on that list there is no one younger than me with a highest count...but Im sure there is someone out there. I guess I am a whore Weird, I had never seen that one before or knew it even existed! I think the one Elissa uses for our count is: http://www.coastercounter.com/
Skycoastin Steve Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 ^I've never seen that site, either. Seems to be mostly Europeans populating the site. I'm pretty sure the counting site you linked to is the most popular one.
larrygator Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 (edited) ^I've never seen that site, either. Seems to be mostly Europeans populating the site. I'm pretty sure the counting site you linked to is the most popular one. It started in Europe, but when Coastercounter became less user friendly I found myself keeping coaster-count.com updated. I remember when I joined there were not too many Americans at coaster-count. c-c allows you track all "credits" and the ability to exclude by sorting certain coasters (powered) from you count. Coaster-count.com also lists mountain/alpine coasters, and I love those rides. Edited October 13, 2010 by larrygator
larrygator Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 ^yes, I use the mapping feature quite often, also.
Skycoastin Steve Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 I agree that CoasterCounter has gotten rather tiresome. Maybe I'll give c-c a try.
robbalvey Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 I agree that CoasterCounter has gotten rather tiresome. Agreed. I forget when it happened, but it all of a sudden seemed rather difficult to navigate, and it was ever totally user friendly to begin with. I stopped updating my coaster count mainly because I wasn't as interested in it, and also that Elissa said she'd do it!
Groteslurf Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 I was using the counter on coasterfanatics, but it's not up to date lately. Stopped using Coastercounter about 2 years ago for some reason. Don't remember why exactly but there was a reason for sure. i'm update my Coaster-count account now. Maybe that's the one I'm going to use from now on again. Isn't TPR developing something like this ?
Sir Clinksalot Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 I've always used CoasterCounter as well ... maybe I'll check out that other site. I never really liked the navigation either ... and there are some coasters that aren't even there.
robbalvey Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Isn't TPR developing something like this ? No, not a coaster counter feature. We have been working on a new version of the park index for some time, but not a database to count counters. As for why? It just seems like a TON of work and there are already sites out there that do a good job of this. Someday when we are out of cool things to add to the site, maybe we'll consider it, but it's not on our radar. --Robb
let1gre Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Jeff Johnson (OldJJMan here @ TPR) has exactly 13,910 credits. I think he wins! I'm sure I'm not the only one to wonder this, but does this include the infamous "Jeff Johnson credits" or is it generally agreed upon?
Sir Clinksalot Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 ^ Considering there are only like 6,000 coasters in the world I'm thinking it's a slight exaggeration. There can't be THAT many Jeff Johnson credits out there.
mightbeawannabe Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 ^^There a are 2480 REAL coasters on this big-A$$ rock called planet Earth. The other random things with wheels are Jeff Johnson credits.
downunder Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 I use coaster counter personally, it misses a few Australian travelling coasters but it's good enough for me. That reminds me I have some additions.
let1gre Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 ^^There a are 2480 REAL coasters on this big-A$$ rock called planet Earth. The other random things with wheels are Jeff Johnson credits. Ah, such as cars and bicycle-pulled-wagons.
COASTER FREAK 11 Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 I stick with Coaster Counter cause they now have an iPhone app, and the app is actually extremely user friendly! It uses the GPS location of your phone to show coasters around you, so you dont have to search. They you just select the park and click the coaster you want. I hate the website though, lol.
Meteornotes Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 I really don't keep track of my count (but I'd guess it's either close to or over 1,000 by now), but some day I really have to sit down and figure out Ice Bat's count... dt
