So I´d like to take up Ginzos question of the European Trip thread :

Is there a park in Europe that can compare with or even beat Mirabilandia coasterwise ? If yes...which park is it...and why ???

What`s your opinion...please explain !

^Did Ginzo say 'coasterwise' or best '1-2 Combination'?

I think there's a big difference between the two categories.

Thinking of 'overall coasterwise' in Europe I would say the following parks are all in consideration for the title:

Blackpool

Alton Towers

Thorpe Park

Grona Lund

Liseberg

Heide

Europa

Mirabilandia

Phantasialand

Holiday (soley for Ge Force!)

Best 1-2 Punch I'm thinking more like:

Mirabilandia - iSpeed / Katun

Liseberg - Balder / Kanonen

Heide - Colosos / B&M Dive Machine

Europa - Blue Fire / Silver Star **Some people may think this although I totally disagree with that one!!!

and BM was forceful.

I'm not sure what Black Mamba you rode, but the one I rode was not forceful. At least not compared to all the other B&M inverts I've been on...which is almost all of them. This isn't even my opinion. I've seen accelerometer ratings to back up that statement as a fact.

Black Mamba is "Silver Bullet Forces" at best.

It depends on what you like.

Europa Park has blueFire (a personal #1) and SilverStar, plus a wide ratnge of other very good and well themed family coasters.

Alton Towers has this quirky coaster lineup because of the height restrictions. It has world-famous roller coasters like Nemesis and some world-firsts like Rita, Air or Oblivion that make this park a MUST.

Thorpe Park is a bit overrated IMO. A lot of coasters most of which don't really stand out. Good ride selection though.

PortAventura has a good variety of coasters too. You have the biggest European B&M, Dragon Khan, and what used to be an awesome wooden coaster with Stampida (again, pretty unique). Then you get the only Arrow Mine train in Europe (I guess that's nothing really outstanding but still a rare credit) and Furius Baco, the crown jewel.

Last, Parque Warner. This was built following your typical SF-layout with American-sized coasters. So, you get a Batman clone (really really good), a huge B&M floorless (overrated IMO), a big-ass RCCA (I guess this is not really something to be proud of, oh well lol) and two really good family coasters (a Zierer double-eight coaster and a Mack YoungStar). The edge of this park is Stunt Fall. Maybe not the best coaster there (I prefer Batman) but still a rare and awesome credit.

For me, it's a tie between Europa Park and Alton.

I'm not sure what Black Mamba you rode, but the one I rode was not forceful.

Couldn't agree more.

Now this is embarrassing. Cause Ginzo was talking about the "1-2 punch"...and I misunderstood that. I`d like to know which European park has the strongest coaster lineup, and I thought that`s what Ginzo meant, too.

So...my first thread and yet a big mistake in it. So sorry. May I hide behind the fact that english is not my native language ???

George "nevertheless hoping for more replies, and thank you for yours Robb and Elissa, oh well, I think this is too much text to be fitted between my first and my last name so sorry for that, this totally belongs somewhere else" T.

^ PortAventura is a pretty good contender with Baco and Dragon Khan. That is, when you sit in a seat on Baco that doesn't beat the living crap out of you...it's an AMAZING ride!!!

Europa Park has many quality coasters such as Blue Fire, Silver Star (Which I find underrated), Euro Mir (Very fun ride), and Euro Sat (Another pretty fun ride). Not to mention a water coaster (maybe two if you count Atlantica as a coaster) , two quality small family coasters, and two good larger family coasters.

Heide Park is now getting a B&M to its line up of already Colossus, (my number one wooden coaster), Desert Race, an AWESOME Bobsled, and a okay looping family coaster and mine train (if you count it).

Phantasialand has Winjas (Not one but TWO awesome coasters), my favorite mine train coaster, and Black Mamba. (Which may not be OMFG forceful, but it is still a great coaster)

I haven't been to Alton Towers, Port Adventura, or any park in Italy, however I could see both of these making the list.

Shame on me, I did kind of forget about Spain!

Mirabilandia has the best 1-2 in my opinion, as both coasters will be in my or near my Top 25 Steel this year I can't think of any two coasters in the same European park that stack up. I love other European coasters such as Insane, Balder, Speed Monster, Blue Fire, Nemesis, EGF but none of these coasters have that second companion coaster at the same park.

However, Heide Park with the trifecta of Colossus, new B&M Dive machine and Desert Race will be quite an impressive threesome.

@ Robb and Elissa:Totally agree with the Furious Baco inside seat only. I could feel the pain of edge seat rides for MONTHS after my visit. Kumbak trains on Stampida didn't help. Khan... well, my screen name should give you a hint as if I like it or not.

@ Robb: As for Black Mamba, I guess it's like some other coasters: can deliver excellent FORCEFUL rides on some days, and crappy experience on others. Probably I was lucky, but I have ridden a couple of inverts too (not as many as Robb, that's obvious) but BM really kicked ass the day I hit it ! Any coaster can give more or less awsome experience depending on lots of factors. I rode SROS at SFNE and was totally unimpressed, for instance, whereas Goliath at Walibi World blew me away. Very subjective so.

Back on topic, I'm surprised Warner PArque MAdrid has not been mentioned. It's got quite good balance rides / theming and at least 2 of their coasters are decent. Superman flooless is the best floorless I've ridden, with great hangtime , some airtime, great first drop and cool smooth layout. And the (ok ubiquitous) Batman which is still one of my favourites when I want some heavy G's. And Stuntfall may well be a Vekoma, it's a Vekoma that I liked and found a bit thrilling.

^I thought about Parque Warner Madrid, but a B&M Floorless and a Batman aren't really up to the top tier of what I would consider for saying that a park has a kick ass 1-2 punch. I also couldn't give it consideration for best 'coasters' because the rest is crap!
