sixflagsguy5 Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 The point of this thread is that people are commenting that it would have been nice if TTD had done more than just one thing. They aren't saying they wanted THAT EXACT RIDE IN THE DRAWING TO BE BUILT! Yes, and I was just pointing out that it is obviously a fan drawing from an engineering perspective, which I have. Seriously. Do some of you even think about what you're posting before you click that "submit" button? Yes, in fact you could say I over-though my post before clicking the "submit" button. I didn't even bother mentioning that you would need an unreal amount of friction and/ or wind resistance for this ride to work without killing someone, but I did imply this in the KNEX comment. KNEX coaster models have insane energy losses due to friction and lack of close wheel contact, plus the fact that the wheels will "slide" over the track rather than rotate, because lubrication from the axles in the wheel assembly goes onto the track. I was pointing out that this would be a really cool design to make out of KNEX, because it would work so well with the energy loss.
aceospades1250 Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Wow, the ride in that drawing would kill everyone on the train.
Sir Coaster Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 And that drawing is EXACTLY why fan expectation is killed once the actual coaster opens... Still, TTD is already intense in a sense, and with more track to it, it's be incredible to think of! Fortunetly, we have Storm Runner to give us that experience shown in the drawing...Only half the size, which is a fair sacrifice.
CorkscrewFoley Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 I remember this layout from around the speculation time of TTD. I could have sworn there was an airtime hill, and then another tophat instead of the overbanked, but you catch my drift. I always thought CP should have made Dragster like 250, maybe 275, and added more elements to it. Still, since Dragster has arrived, there some massive bottlenecking that is going on.
Jcoaster Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 If TTD had this layout in real life there would be only one word I could think of to describe the ride. "Blackout".
LcHg5265 Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Agreed. This is why I thought iSpeed was so awesome! It was like your typical Intamin launched coaster into the tophat, but then with a full coaster afterwards! Quoted for absolute truth! ISpeed is the perfect combination of speed, height, inversions and transitions. More coasters should be like iSpeed! I thought you were on Team Katun due to the rides employees

There is another coaster like that located at Silver Dollar City called "THE POWDER KEG". Not only does it launches you over a hill and around a few curves, but it also contains a lift hill in the middle of the ride. How many coasters can lay a claim to that? "I'm glad you were able to get that off your chest, NOW WOULD YOU PLEASE COME TO BED?"

Totally forgot about the hot brunette at Katun. She changes things a little.
