thrillrider
More..... Afew more shots from cedarpoint. Here is the monsters of rock show they used to have. This was the most popular show in the park. Due to cedar points budget, this show will not happen anymore....shame. As you can see, people loved this show. I will always have a soft spot in my heart for ocean motion. Why you ask?...Because it has Boobs! Evil skee ball. I know that cedar point like it's garbage cans, but for gods sake..... Remember when gemini used to run all 6 trains?Ever wonder what they did to the othe 2? Well look no further. They are sitting in the mean streak junk yard. Gemini wheel porn. CorkscrewFoley
When I was at Halloweekends back in '05, I am pretty sure they had all six train running. Still, I'm about to show how old I am, I remember going, what maybe 1980, maybe 81, and Gemini's queue spilled right out onto the midway. Might have been testing still... thrillrider
Yea, they took two trains off as soon as they added air gates to the ride. I think that may be the same reason they are only running 2 trains on mean streak this year.

KDCOASTERFAN
I was suprised that they got rid of the theme of that area, and replaced it with action zone. The investment into Action Zone was meant to be a chest-thump warning shot to SFKK that they planned to keep their domination in the market. The former Six Flags regime had big plans for Kentucky Kingdom, but Paramount wanted to make sure those plans never happened. Keep in mind, too, that the Adventure Village themeing had been left to rot thru the American Financial Corp ownership, and was looked rather haggard by the time the animals moved out in '94. Interestingly enough, not too long after Paramount used significant investment to intimidate Six Flags from major new development at their Kentucky park, Six Flags used the same tactic (and just as poorly executed) to try to challenge Cedar Point with their newly-flagged and over developed park in Aurora. Did AFC have ownership of the entire chain or just KI? IIRC the owners were Taft,KECO,Paramount & now CF.
tedten
This thread is fantastic. Two questions about your SF Great America post. 1) What do you mean about taking the police car out of the que line? It's been there every time I've gone, the last time being in 2007, (going again for the TPR day!) 2) What show did you see in Space Shuttle America that you didn't like? I saw at least 2 different ones. I thought the dinosaur one was fantastic and had amazing 3-D effects! The other was an "ok" space themed one where you traveled through some sort of time traveling/dimension hopping space tunnel thingy.
thrillrider
1. I may be cofusing the cop car with another batman coaster. After going on all of them, I may have got them mixed up. A few six flags I have been to have taken out the cop car when they painted the ride. 2. The show we saw was some kind of space/ science show. The show E-stopped twice, the doors kept opening and letting the light in. If there were any effects, they were not working. The stairs going into the theater was not air condition, and it was sweltering hot. The sound also kept cutting in and out. Add in the fact that the employies that were working on this ride could not give a crap about anything, that made it a bad show.

Taft sold the parks to the newly-formed KECO entity in 1984, but KECO sold the parks to AFC in 1987. KECO continued to run the parks thru a management contract with AFC. Unfortunately, budgets were tightened and tightened and things got to be in the shape that they were in right before the Paramount purchase. thrillrider
Today has been a crazy day, so not much has been posted. I do have a letter that was sent to me about 8 years ago from conneaut lake park. I had contacted the park about info, and they sent me a letter and booklet. I am still looking for the booklet, but here is the letter. I love small parks like this. There is not one large corporate park out there, that would invite you into there office to say hi. saginawhxc
I had forgot all about the old MA logo till I saw that. I remember going sometime around that time with a friend and his family. They spent all day in the water park and I spent all day going back and forth between Wolverine Wildcat and Corkscrew. In fact I believe they were my 2nd and 3rd coasters and that was the day I think I started down the road with my obsession with roller coasters. Once again this is all awesome stuff. thrillrider
Today I have an idelwild park map from about 5 years ago. The park has not changed much if any in 5 years. I have an old booklet from holiday world as well. I also included a few park books. I have one from paramounts kings island, and another from six flags. The six flags book is cool, because it has every ride listed from every six flags park. You check them off as you ride them. You can even rate them and put down what you thoght of the ride. I think they still sell these in the parks. Idlewild park. Park map....not much has changed. Holiday world 2004 Hours and rules. A six flags check list book. Back of book. I got this book after cedar fair took over the park. They were almost giving these away. Back of book.
