Rugged One Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 Thought that I would throw of some shots from Sunday's adventures. Kim and I headed to the King of Prussia Mall in King of Prussia, PA on Sunday. For those that don't know, this is one of those mega-malls that used to be one of the largest around when it opened. The last time we were there in December, it was a complete madhouse, so it was nice to get there early and look around without the crowds. Of course I couldn't leave without a souvenir. Thanks for reading. While I enjoyed the Hopdevil cask. BTW, Happy Birthday Wally! This one's for you! Kim had a Mad King's Weiss. Of course on the way home, we had to stop at Victory for a drink. We next hit the movie theater across the street and saw V For Vendetta on the IMAX. It was a pretty kick ass flick. Yeah it was! Not bad. We enjoyed Rock Bottom. We'll definitely be back to try some of their other stuff plus it's always good to have a brewery handy in the mall to help quench your thirst while your shopping. We had a movie to catch and time was getting short, so I only had time for one more. Went with Uncle Patty's Oatmeal Stout. Was it any good? Mmmmm, barbecue nachos. Kim keeps it light with the Lumpy Dog. The Prussia's Pride IPA of course! They had some nice looking stuff on tap. Gee, what will I go for first? They had a really nice bar area, with a good vibe. It helped that it was still early and there wasn't many people there yet. It looks like there's some serious fermenting going in there. Of course I wouldn't be posting this unless there was beer somehow involved. In this case, it's the Rock Bottom Brewery, located in the mall.
memphish Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 Looks awesome Heath! Right down to the oversized nacho plate. I can't wait until we can have nice things like that down here. Unpacked my bag last night
PhishyBrewer Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Guess what's in the Delirium glass? Give up? Delirium... duh!
DerekRx Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Posting a full documentation in my Random trip thread, but here's a teaser. For Wally's birthday, I decided to have a local brew for him.
Erik Johnson Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 ^Yeah!!! Derek is alive! Erik's a drunk huh? I thought he was just a dork. Just kidding Erik. Atleast he didn't wear his Miller shirt. LOL!!! I have retired that shirt Wally. I did have a foo foo Pina Colada, but it was very lacking in the rum department.
memphish Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Its 33 degrees outside, but apparently Mr. Adams says its spring. And who am I to argue with a true patriot. I am quite the optimist.
memphish Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Photo TR'in has left me with a powerful thirst and a desire to relive the magic. So how bout a Red Horse Ale to end the day.
Rugged One Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Wow, that's a nice selection of stuff you brought back there Mike. Enjoy the Racer X. I love that stuff! Wow, with everyone either just visiting Nor Cal, currently visiting Nor Cal, or living in Nor Cal, I was feeling left out. Good thing I had some Liberty Ale on hand to help raise my spirits. Liberty Ale. Fantastic stuff. Makes me want to go do some trip planning now!
DerekRx Posted March 24, 2006 Posted March 24, 2006 Time to show off my NorCal beverages of late: Saw this shirt appropriate for some beer thread contributors It rocked! Then found an Irish pub with Lagunitas IPA on tap Followed by a Widmer Hefeweizen Then had a Fat Tire at Fisherman's Wharf Promptly after the conference ended, I broke out the Anchor Steam But I wasn't paying, so who am I to complain Last night I had a Pyramid Hefe Weizen for dinner. Sadly, no lemons!?
CoasterCrazy Posted March 24, 2006 Posted March 24, 2006 ^That is one of funniest shirts that I have ever seen!!!
Rugged One Posted March 24, 2006 Posted March 24, 2006 It looks like your'e having a good time with all those great beers out there Derek. Make sure you have a Thunderhead at Pryamid when you go. I love the shirt but if I sold Kim for beer, who would drive me around to all these breweries?
memphish Posted March 24, 2006 Posted March 24, 2006 Oh damn! Languitas on tap! I wish I had known of that place. I think I'll join you on that and crack open my bottle today while watching the games
memphish Posted March 24, 2006 Posted March 24, 2006 A little yard work and some pool work. Time for a Boulevard wheat! I don't know why im not smiling more. Ah well.
mcjaco Posted March 25, 2006 Posted March 25, 2006 I just went out and picked up this.....need I say more???? @ $2.99 for 22 oz. I should've bought more.....
DerekRx Posted March 25, 2006 Posted March 25, 2006 Tonight I was going to go to 21st Amendment, but it was too far for me to walk. Luckily I knew Thirsty Bear was nearby, so we stopped there instead. Food was good, Spanish tapas and such. The atmosphere was great, and the beers were worth the walk! When in San Francisco, fruitiness is all around. So I felt obligated to do the same when my Sangria Sorbet came for dessert. It was yummy in my tummy. Then tried the Baren Marzen Amber Ale seasonal Belgian I had Spanish Meatballs with mushrooms, peas, and chickpeas for my meal Then had to go with the Valencia Wheat for all my peeps down chillin' by Magic Mountain I started off with the Howard Street IPA After much walking from Market Street, we found Thirsty Bear
PhishyBrewer Posted March 25, 2006 Posted March 25, 2006 ^I don't want to sound queeer or nothing but... HELL YEAH for the Sangria Sorbet!!!
Rugged One Posted March 25, 2006 Posted March 25, 2006 Ah man, you got to go to Thirsty Bear! I love that logo. Finally broke into my bottle of Sly Fox Rt. 113 IPA last night. This one was kind of interesting. Started out with some nice sweet citrus notes but then got hopppier and hoppier the more I drank it. Heh, I'm not complaining though. Also, yeah for the beer thread on reaching a 100 pages! My how it's grown in only a few short months. The Sly Fox Rt. 113 IPA. Kind of a schizo IPA but I still enjoyed it.
memphish Posted March 25, 2006 Posted March 25, 2006 Posting in the 100th Me and mah boy got tired looking for leprechauns, so we downed a Racer 5
memphish Posted March 25, 2006 Posted March 25, 2006 Tryin' new things this Saturday Mmm! Just tried a Bully! Porter for the first time. Suprisingly good considering Im not a fan of dark beers.
Hattuchili Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 ^ That is great Wally! I had no beer since 2 weeks or so! --Sören
memphish Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 Hey Derek, you're welcome to come and conference down here anytime
DerekRx Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 Finally got home from San Francisco, though I'm tired, jetlagged (AGAIN!) and really miss the weather. Here's a recap from yesterday's fun. Of course I was happy to find the giftshop and some 6 packs for the trek home And then the DPA, only found in the brewpub. Its the Mac's Ale but nitrogenated. Really weird stuff, like an ale trying to be a stout Followed by some Snow Cap During the tour of Pyramid, I had a little sample of the Hefe Enjoying my Crystal Weizen while doing my best Heath face Which went great with my gazpacho Being the Coaster Tool I am, I just had to start out with the Thunderhead IPA Started out at Pyramid, home of good weizens and good food
DerekRx Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 After Pyramid, we checked out Triple Rock which wasn't too far away. The place was very different, and the beers were too. I had the Shanghai IPA, which ended up being one of the better IPAs, not as good as Thunderhead though. The place was surprisingly small, but the staff was really friendly and fast After Wally headed home, I checked out more of the city, stopping at San Francisco Brewing before heading back to the airport I tried their 21A IPA, which was pretty average for an IPA. High in alcohol though at 7.2% The day was still young, so we headed into San Francisco to check out the 21st Amendment The tried the Red Rock Ale, their signature beer. That one was even weirder! (so strange in fact, that neither of us actually finished our glass!) I started out with the IPAX, IPA Max. It was an odd boy, not very max at all We were kinda frightened, especially at the interest in the Texas/LSU basketball game going on Wally had good directions, but the mean streets of Berkeley are just plain goofy!
