Hattuchili Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 ^ That is really crazy! I mean beer and coke isn´t really tasty, but beer with fruit? Ewww! --Sören
DerekRx Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 Another rough day at work. Only took me 20 minutes before I was home and with beer. *BURP!* Good and nutty.... He tastes.... I've been hearing good things about the Troeg's Rugged Trail Ale But Brown, so I tried that.
FlyerACE1 Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 Another rough day at work. Only took me 20 minutes before I was home and with beer. I don't know, I gotta say, I'm not a big fan of this brew. Had it with my Troegs mix pack and actually ended up dumping mine at CCL. I guess I'm just not a fan of the nut brown style. Sad because Troegs makes some nice brews!
PhishyBrewer Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 Got my new tap marker today for the kegarator. I love eBay... sometimes. Note: Sierra Nevada Sweatshirt
FlyerACE1 Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 On Friday I decided to stop by my local beer heaven and splurge a bit. Being on a Dogfish Head kick lately, I decided on a single bottle of Worldwide Stout. A new bottle of the super strong and super delicious World Wide Stout!
FlyerACE1 Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 And being overanxious I posted without posting all photos. Doh! Here are more. Yummm!! Dogfish Head goodness! As you can see, WWS has a unique look- very dark and quite carbonated like Coke.
FlyerACE1 Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 On Saturday, Ellen and I went to the Brewhouse in South Norwalk, CT with her friend Joann. They have a fairly extensive selection of draught and bottled beers. Keeping that Dogfish Head kick going, I decide on one of my all time faves- 60 Minute IPA fresh from the tap! Ellen enjoys her #1 favorite beer, Franziskaner Weissbier!
FlyerACE1 Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 On Saturday night we popped open one of the latest from Dogfish Head called Fort. Ellen is all smiles but neither of us cared for this ale "brewed with over a ton of pureed raspberries". It's also touted as the world's strongest fruit beer. Definitely not a favorite and too costly to buy again. Dogfish Head always has some cool bottle art. It's too bad the taste didn't match.
DerekRx Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 Today I work I heard "Brass Monkey" by the Beastie Boys played on my XM, so all day long I was thinking about Victory Golden Monkey. Had to have a bottle when I got home, of course! Golden Monkey junkie Golden Monkey.....that funky Belgian monkey
Rugged One Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 On Saturday night we popped open one of the latest from Dogfish Head called Fort. That's too bad that you didn't enjoy the Fort. I still have yet to try it, as I passed up the chance a few weeks ago, when I was at the Dogfish Head Alehouse down in MD and my local place has sold out of it. Well tonight I finally tried a "What Was the Last Beer or Wine You Drank?" thread legend. The Paulaner Hefe. And it didn't disappoint. I'm definitely going to have to go back for more. The legendary Paulaner Hefe. Look at the head on that thing! It's like a beer afro.
Hattuchili Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 ^ I am a bit happy, that I can get some Paulaner in the US! Here in Germany you can get it at each corner and it is really one of my favorite beers! --Sören
DorneyDude Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 ^ That is really crazy! I mean beer and coke isn´t really tasty, but beer with fruit? Ewww! --Sören Actually, the Belgian Fruit Lambics are quite good. I would say that Lindemans Brewery makes the best. They have a Cherry, Raspberry, Peach and my favorite, Black Currant. De Troch brewery has some very good Lambics as well. I especially like the Chapeau Banana and while the Chapeau Fraises (Strawberry) was a little sour, it was still pretty good. Of all the Lambics I've had I would rate them this way: 1) Lindemans Cassis (Black Currant) 2) Chapeau Banana 3) Lindemans Peche (Peach) 4) Lindemans Framboise (Raspberry) 5) Lindemans Kriek (Cherry) 6) Leifmans Kriek 7) Chapeau Fraises (Strawberry) 8) Lindemans Gueze (No fruit - Straight Lambic) I never really had a pallete for Wheat Beers but I do enjoy the occasional HefeWeizen now and then. I prefer more of a vanilla clove flavor over the banana. I also do enjoy Petes Wicked Strawberry Blonde. Nice and refreshing on a hot summer day. Fruit beers aren't bad, as long as there is a good balance.

PhishyBrewer Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 If I ever have a box of Cheez-It's in front of me with a White Russian... you can be sure I'm having one of those days. Today is one of those days.
Hattuchili Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Oh Wally, that is sad! I hope you feel better seen! --Sören
PhishyBrewer Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Oh Wally, that is sad! I hope you feel better seen! --Sören I'm just playing... I'm doing just fine.
DerekRx Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Today was another "home from work, 30 seconds later have a beer in hand" day. The other pharmacist was sick at work AGAIN, and I got to thinking, how come I haven't missed a day of work since like 2000. Simple, I turned 21. Dr. Derek says, "a beer a day takes your worries away, as well as any possible illnesses!" So if you want to be well, have a beer every day, just in moderation (whatever that is). I'm not much of a pilsner guy, as I can drink way too many of these way too easily (then spend the rest of the night going to the bathroom). Today's random grab, Victory Prima Pils. the JoJo Roll isn't the best element on Hydra, the bottle opener is!
Rugged One Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 So tonight the DuClaw Brewing Co. had it's first beer release of the new year. The "Old Flame" Old English Ale. I had to miss the release party myself because of 2nd shift work but the wife was nice enough to stop by and pick me up a growler. Old Flame. Feel the burn! Nothing feels better than coming home from a crappy night of work to a growler full of beer and a new episode of LOST.
PhishyBrewer Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 I had to miss the release party myself because of 2nd shift work but the wife was nice enough to stop by and pick me up a growler. She's a keeper!!!
