Coaster Palooza
We went to Six Flags Discovery Kingom’s Holiday in the Park on 11/27. It was the first day for the event. Below is a review and pictures. The day started out difficult. It was raining at 3pm, when the park opened. It kept raining through 4pm. We were prepared for it and we didn’t let the rain dappen our spirits. We went to Blitzen’s Wonderland Mountain first to slide down it. That was fun and I didn’t bottom it out! Our next stop was the tiger show at 3:30, followed by the dolphin show at 4pm. Even in the rain, the tiger show was good. They had their 2 youngest tigers come out. The dolphin show was nice because it got us out of the rain for a little bit. The lighting of the Christmas tree was at 5:30. We ate at our favorite taco place and had an “adult” beverage. The tree lighting was neat because they pull a family out of the crowd and have them light it, however, the tree didn’t light all the way to the top. We went through the Christmas tree forest and half of those trees weren’t lit up either. Aside from that, the park was nicely decorated and we had a good time. We also got our picture with Santa. It has been a tradition for us. We ended the night riding Tony Hawk’s Big Spin and Roar. There wasn’t any wait for it. ADMIN EDIT: I've gone ahead and updated your thread title to include "Photo TR:" and to remove the all-caps title. Otherwise, the thread looks good, so keep up the good work! That is all...Everyone should go to Holiday in the Park. It is a good time! Tony Hawk to end the night. in my best chipmunk voice - All I want is a hoola hoop... I wish I could have pet the dolphin, but these people got yelled at for doing it. ok, lift your chin and turn... This seal was posing... Night shot of the snow hill... Night shot of Candy Cane Lane. Heading to his workshop to take pictures. Santa is here! hmmm, what happened to the top? Flip the switch! They're ready... Captain Lee getting the family up there. We're waiting for the lighting of the tree. I thought I could open this gift. The puppet show was pretty good too. Me with the gingerbread cookie...I'm getting hungry! Unfortunately, all the trees' lights didn't work. I thought the Santa hat was cool. Almost time for the tree to get lit up! Toy Land was down by Medusa. A couple of shots from the show... At least we're not getting rained on anymore. Dolphin show time! We liked the sit up and beg move. The white bengal tiger is 1 year old too. Time for the stars. She is just under 1 year, from what I remember. This guy was dancing away before the show. Waiting for the tiger show. There wasn't any dry place. The tiger was wet, but seemed to enjoy it. I have a view of this at night too. Candy Cane lane is at the end of the hill. I FLEW down this hill. Heading to the back...Walking in a Winter Wonderland. We stopped here later for our picture with Santa. The tree is HUGE! The magic switch to light the tree. Mr. Six and gang were getting their groove on... They had a band in the front of the park playing Chrismas music.

darklingscribe
Great trip report. I never got around to doing the holiday in the park events last year, but this year I really am going to go out of my way to try to attend. I think it is the sledding that sold me on the idea. By the way, where in the park is the sledding located? I couldn't figure out where they could put it besides blocking off one of the paths. CoasterPrince
For an animal park that dolphin stadium sure looks crappy.

CreditCrazy
I'm planning on making it to Holiday in the Park this year, so this was nice to read. Were any other shows open in Land?
atem122
^On the website, it says 'Land' is closed for Holiday in the Park, I still wanna make it back out there for this though!
CreditCrazy
^ I know, which is why I don't get how the Tiger show was open.
darklingscribe
I think since the new tiger show stadium was their addition for 2009 they wanted to keep it open. Anyway the stadium is right next to Boomerang and not right in the back of the park where it used to be, so it is not that difficult to close the Land section and keep the stadium open. Coaster Palooza
Land is closed for Holiday in the Park. The following were the shows that were open: Tiger Dolphin Shouka Sea Lion We didn't go to see Shouka or the Sea Lion shows. Shouka performs once at 8pm. The tiger show was twice. BeemerBoy
Cool report, Rick! The only thing missing was "in action" shots of you flying down that hill. Glad you guys enjoyed the event.
Coaster Palooza
^I agree Scott. Gyendolynne and I talked about doing the hill again for the photo, but it was too crowded later on in the night.

DisWiz
Great trip report! I'm going to be going to the park for my first time in 2 weeks. I always like to check what the park usually does during wetter weather? It looked as though it was quite wet during your, visit were all the rides still operating? (What's the usual actions of this park during rain?)
packfanlv
Thanks for the report Rick. Its too bad I won't make it up there this year for HITP. We visited last year on the day after Christmas and it was a blast!!
Coaster Palooza
Hi, sorry about the lack of my reply, I thought I did. ^^^Hey Charles, I asked if you were there and they said I must have just missed you. The park looks great! We really like the Holiday times. ^^Hey Dis, It looked like all the rides were running. We did the shows first and didn't ride until it stopped raining. When we arrived, Medusa, Roar, and Tony Hawk were all running. We got there at opening. V2 is down for the winter. The park did a great job! atem122
Thanks for the report Rick. Its too bad I won't make it up there this year for HITP. We visited last year on the day after Christmas and it was a blast!! Was your son wearing a Holiday World shirt? Because I swear I saw a kid wearing one of those when I was there and I've wondered if it was any of us. This was an awesome trip report, I can't wait to make it up there, which'll probably be after Christmas, I miss Medusa and Roar!
