Let me jump in here and say this:

Speed is an issue on coaster models, but is it an important one? I don't think so. The reason why these models go faster than the ones you see in parks is mostly because of the scale of the model, the friction between the wheels and track, the weight of the trains, and the material the track is made out of. To get a coaster model at a speed and performance just like the real thing, you'd be more than likely breaking the laws of physics. Also, plastic track doesn't have the same friction as steel or wooden track.

I'd have to agree with Jack on this one and could really see how getting asked the same question over and over can get annoying.

I bought my first CoasterDynamix kit over 4 years ago. Since then, I have been a regular on CD's website forum. I can't even count the number of times some new poster who's never bought a kit complains about the speed. I completely sympathize with Jack, as it has gotten to the point where it drives ME crazy...and I'm not even part of the company! So, I understand why he posts more humorous (and, yes, sometimes with a little bite) responses. I mean, he's created the best roller coaster model system in the world, and people jump on him for something that is utterly and completely out of his hands. Cut him some slack! And, if there are people out there who were considering purchasing a kit and have decided against it due to this thread...I strongly urge you to reconsider. These kits are so very cool, and worth every single penny!

Can we please get this thread back on topic or else?

Was the episode within the last couple of weeks? I think I have them recorded.

On a side note, 13 was hot! I'm a little bummed she is gone.

I think it is best to ignore those that complain about these models being too fast, because obviously they don't understand basic physics. Just laugh at their comments, and let them have fun eating glue in the corner. Now I actually own a Scorpion set and for any coaster enthusiast these are the coolest things next to actually building a ride-able backyard coaster there is. It looks cool when it isn't running, but when it does run it's pretty sweet to watch the train travel around the track.

My main gripe is that some of the newer sets seem to be hinting that the company is moving more towards a toy-ish design, as opposed to a model style design. I'm sure the cheaper sets will sell better and keep the business going, which is good, I just hope their target audience doesn't completely change from model type people to spoiled kids just looking for an easy to set up coaster toy. It would be nice if the track pieces could be offered in various colors too. I'm lazy and don't want to have to mess around with painting them, and I would assume it would rub off somewhat easily anyway. I mean, it's just plastic, changing the color shouldn't be too hard or costly I would imagine.

Anyway, these models are pretty sweet! They are pricey, but there's nothing else like them out there. It would be cool if they could team up with No Limits so you could design a coaster in No Limits, then have the blueprints printed out to build with CoasterDynamix pieces. I doubt that'll happen, but I'm just saying it would be pretty cool to do so!

Please, we have heard the "people don't understand basic physics" response enough. Every member in this thread doesn't need to restate it. We get it. I promise.

I honestly can not stand it when people have attitudes like the ones found in this thread. Every one has faults, and that is completely acceptable...but what is annoying is when people don't admit these faults.

Yes, Jack, I know how hard you work on these products. I think they are amazing and look very realistic. I own one, and was considering buying another. However, no matter how tired you are of hearing a repeated question, it is simply not good for your business to answer that question with a smartalec tone. Working for a business myself (yes, even at my age), I know to treat every person as a potential customer. Every day, I am asked the same, repetitive questions over and over, but despite my annoyance, I suck it up and answer those questions in a positive way, to keep business thriving.

I REALLY appreciate you coming on here and discussing/sharing your models with us. That is great, and I'm glad you take the time to do so. When something was wrong with a my first Scorpion kit, I emailed you, and you helped me to exchange it for another one at no cost. I was really impressed with that, and found it to be a great gesture. However, I was not impressed when I clicked on this thread and saw your (and Matt's) first couple posts. In my opinion, they both came off a bit too high-headed and distasteful. I just think the whole situation could have been handled with a much better attitude, from both sides of the conflict.

Oh yeah, and all the kissing-a$$ around here has got to stop. There is a way to be supportive without being a brown-noser, guys.

Daniel, as I stated, my original reply was not mean spirited nor smart assed. I'm sorry the more sensitive members took it that way, but the intent was to be humorous.

I appreciate your business advice and concern for our company. Unfortunately, I have been in business four years longer than you have been alive, so pardon me if I find your post condescending and preachy. When you OWN a business, come back and talk to me about how to run mine. You aren't the moral compass for this site, so stop lecturing others about "ass kissing" or business ethics.

I don't care how long you've been in the business, but that post here is completely unacceptable for a business owner, PR manager/Rep. So what, he gave you some negative and biased advice and you rip him a new mouth?

Was that even called for? I know he was preaching abit, but that could've been taken care of in an entirely different tone. I know repeating questions, and idiots come and go, but you need to get your moral attitude problems in line.

(TO MODS: I'm sorry, this needs to stop, this thread's getting way out of control and I feel a flame war brewing. Can someone lock this?)

First and foremost, Daniel, this thread was dead. There was no need to restart the drama. Everyone had said their piece and moved on. One might consture your response as fanning the flames. So don't get preachy.

Two, anyone who has met me, knows that my sense of humor is horrendously sarcastic in nature. My response echoed that.

Three, Jack can run his business anyway he pleases. Wanna know why? Because it's his. Just like Robb can run TPR anyway he pleases. Does that mean everyone is going to like it? NO. I'm pretty sure Jack has a good idea on who and how he should cater to prospective customers. Again, that doesn't mean everyone is going to like it.

*getting on soapbox* Those of you that have ever worked retail at any level, will understand the frustrations that go on with boneheaded, ill educated comments, about your products. My mother runs her own business and the idiocy that she has to deal with on a day to day basis, it's no wonder she isn't doing time for killing someone. The American consumer is an under educated, "know it all," that typically deserves very little gratitude from the the producers of the porducts. They expect too much, for too little. *off of my soapbox*

That being said, I am locking this. If you want to discuss it further, you can PM me.
