I'm gonna go rogue here and vote BP above SCBB, but hear me out.

BP Giant Dipper was my first wooden coaster so it has a special place in my heart. The first time I rode it was on probably one of the best nights of my life when my dad took me all around SD after graduating elementary school haha.

Also I've ridden the BP Giant Dipper in pretty much every row, but I only got to ride the SCBB one once, and that was right in the middle of the train, therefore I didnt experience any negative force and was kind of let down.

Now if I had gotten to ride it more, I probably would heavily prefer SCBB's, but based out of personal experience, I give the nod to BP.

I also place Roar above SCBB, but as stated, I rode SCBB in the wrong row.

SCBB hands down. Better tunnel, drop, and station and a bit smoother. On the other hand, BP Dipper is located in beautiful Mission Bay and is kinda cool for actually being in a small tract of land between two large bodies of water, something which took a satellite picture for me to realize.

For me, despite the probably hundreds of rides I've had on the BP Giant Dipper as I am a local, I much prefer the Giant Dipper at SCBB

BTW, ever since I first went on the Santa Cruz coaster, I've wondered what the exact layout of the tunnel is. Does anybody know what goes on in there or know of any diagrams of the tunnel itself????

Thanks

There was a time when I had Ghost Rider firmly at number one but those days are long gone.

Why is this so ?

Because, like a few have already said, Ghost Rider has gone to crap. The first two or three years it was open it was amazing. Then it spent several years slowly going down hill but still capable of giving some decent late night rides. The last two years (especialy this year) it is nothing but pain and discomfort.

I haven't been on SCBB's, but I do really like BP's Giant Dipper. I think it was my first wooden coaster, but I also like the layout. No the airtime moments aren't ejector air, but I just like how none of the hills are really straight until the last trip around. The first drop is really fun and the ride is just plain fun. I can see SCBB's being better based off of air etc., but BP has a pretty decent ride on their hands too.

Only ridden my local Dipper (SCBB). If I haven't ridden this one, and were judging by videos, I'd probably have to say that SCBB's Dipper steals the show. Really though, they're both 2 different styles of rides...SCBB's being the more traditional out 'n back airtime coaster while SoCal's Dipper seems much like an old school twister coaster as most of it's curves. I'd say that SCBB's does seem to be a bit more on the wilder side though...especially with how it was running last weekend with major ejector air!
