rockbook2000
I'm heading to Paris at the end of August/early-September and was wondering whether or not you think it would be worth it to go. Will it likely be super crowded like the Orlando parks? How are the rides? Going there with someone who isn't huge into roller coasters, so was thinking Disney provides some rides they can do. ryno1986
It depends on how big of a Disney fan you are. Personally, I find it to be the most beautiful Disneyland style park in the world. That alone makes it worth it to me. If you enjoy the details and architecture of the American parks, then Disneyland Paris will simply blow you away. As far as attractions go, their Big Thunder and Pirates of the Caribbean attractions are superb. Space Mountain is a vekoma coaster with inversions and a launch. I really liked it, but that was before they redid the ride in 2005. Phantom Manor is their version of Haunted Mansion, but I didn't really care for it as much. Fantasyland is definitely better than Florida's, and their Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast is better than our Space Ranger Spin.

I think seeing as you post on an enthusiast website for themeparks you should definately go, its an awesome park! And Disney parks have something for everyone. cfc
Paris Disney is definitely worth a visit. Their versions of Pirates, Thunder Mountain, and the Haunted Mansion (aka, Phantom Manor) are great, even though their Space Mountain is pretty bad (nice to look at, but rough). The Studios park is actually nice and worth checking out, but could use a few more "E" ticket attractions.
ginzo
I think the answer really depends on how much time you have and what your sightseeing priorities are. If you only have 1-2 days and are more after culture credits, then you should probably skip DLP entirely and just see the city. Paris has endless things to do without ever taking the train out to Marne-la-Vallée. However, if you have adequate time and are into parks, then by all means go. One thing to keep in mind is that DLP is relatively newer and therefore doesn't have as many attractions as the more built up Disney resorts. Therefore, if you're just after the highlights and you go on a less busy day, you might be able to get everything you want to see covered in just one day. Some things to definitely check out are: -Big Thunder Mountain -Phantom Manor -Pirates -Tower of Terror (The CMs really put on a good show for us last year.) rockbook2000
How long does it usually take to get there if you are staying in downtown Paris? e.g. How long would it take from the time I leave my hotel to when I am actually in the park after I have bought my ticket? COASTER FREAK 11
I went to the park with TPR summer 2008 and the crowds wern't that bad. And the park is truly beautiful. The rides were not well maintained however. Phantom Manor didn't have any vehicle audio. And some of the cooler effects on pirates were not working. But this is the way I look at it: If you were already planning on going, and don't have something else you'd rather do, then go. It is a really great park, and its worth a trip. ginzo
^^ http://parisbytrain.com/files/2008/06/h_a_jo_mlv.pdf According to the above time table, you can take the RER A line from Paris-Gare de Lyon in ~40 minutes. The station you'd get off on is Gare de Marne-la-Vallée - Chessy, which is almost at the front gates of the two Disney parks. But you'll possibly have to take the Paris Metro over to a station that is on the RER A line (like Paris-Gare de Lyon), which could add more time. So, realistically, you're talking at least an hour to get to DLP and possibly 1.5 hours. Paris's public transport is quite good, BTW, if you take the time to figure it out. Moose
I completely agree with what Joe said earlier. If you only have a day or two, stay in the city and see it. If you have more than that and are a disney fan, go to Disneyland Paris, it is a gorgeous park that I thoroughl enjoyed, but don't miss seeing Paris. WFChris
I dont mean to backseat moderate, but if you search for 'Disneyland Paris,' 72 different threads come out. I'm sure you can figure out for yourself whether or not it's worth it based on a few of those 72 threads. Sorry, I'm just tired of seeing TPR cluttered with 'Going to Knotts...need advice' and 'Should I visit Kennywood?' threads. The answers are in the search function!!! Chris. ECZenith
I've always wanted to visit Disneyland Paris, not as much as I want to visit the Tokyo reesort but there are definately some things that stick out in my mind that are special about Paris's park. People, mostly fellow cast members that I've talked to that have been there say that Big Thunder Mountain and Phantom Manor are the best versions of the attraction at any of the parks. Big Thunder in Paris actually goes underwater and climbs the first lift onto the main part of the ride located on an island. The end of the ride is supposed to be amazing with one long, dark tunnel to return you back to the station. Phantom Manor is essentially the same ride layout as Anaheim's but the theming is more "adult" in nature and it's also themed to western mansion. You can expect more rotting dead bodies and scary moments rather than the silly nature of the American versions. Don't get me I'm a huge fan of HM but Phantom manor looks amazing! I also hear Crush's Coaster is a lot of fun at the second gate. It's supposed to be a very disorienting coaster in the dark and its theming looks pretty decent from what I've seen. I would say yes, it's definately worth it. Go! And don't forget your camera!
Ghost
Disneyland Paris is beautiful and if you like Disney should not be missed. I have so been so many times already Istopped counting my visit when I reach 100 and I still can't get enough of it. But then I am a Disney (park) addict as you might see in my signature...
