CoasterGuy06
Yes Buzzsaw Falls has opened and has been quite the hit with guests so far. On it's opening day it had more than double the amount of riders than any other ride in the park! Landscaping is still a work in progress, but the ride looks GOOD, IMO. Here are some pictures I took of the ride and surrounding area. The entry plaza located next to the Balloon Wheel. Looking down you can see where the park opened up an old service road to make the plaza by Balloon Wheel. This really improves flow through the park. Walking up to the ride area. This is where the old haunted house was. Where the entrance and exit split, complete with splash! Larry friendly photo. Info signs at the entrance to the que line. The que line goes under the ride. The station. The structure is from the old haunted house. The loading area. Both boats Heading up the lift Lift again Both boats in one shot! Must have some good operators to send boats that quickly Starting down... Going down... Splash! Splash again! The splash this ride makes is HUGE, as the operators occasionally find out. One final picture of the SPLASH!!

samisthabomb
I'm SO glad management is taking good care of this park and constantly making improvements! I love that they have a McAlister's (sort of a rare find in a park), Buzzsaw Falls looks great, the lettering on the entrance looks awesome, and Vertigo's paint job really makes the ride look better! Please, keep us posted with any more improvements

It's a maintenance road, there are tons of those all over the place behind the park.
Sandra-A1
I've been checking the park's web cam here: http://www.myfoxal.com/link/397374/webcams and it sure looks empty. What a shame that there were such serious problems at Alabama Adventure the other day: http://blog.al.com/spotnews/2011/06/borderline_riot_at_alabama_adv.html The park had a great season last year. People were really filling the park. Even families from "over-the-mountain" were coming. Sadly, not now. Looks like the park's owners should have hired more security personal this season. Notice how not one is seen in the above video. Yes, the park can recover, but it is going to take one heck of a publicity campaign...and a lot of time. I wonder just how much time, and money, the investors/owners are willing to give it?
Shavethewhales
Yeah, it's basically dead. The thing is, it looks like they were surviving by "giving away the gate" for a measly $10 on Mondays. The only way to operate on a system like that is to pack the park with the wrong kind of people, so what happened was pretty much bound to happen without serious security presence. I know a LOT of families are going to stop buying season passes again, and many won't be back this season. Hope they survive... something like this tends to linger in the public's memory for a long time. Seeing that video just makes me rage though. Those kids... as soon as one person starts to act crazy they all think it's acceptable for them to be crazy too.
CoasterGuy06
The park ran the same promotion every Monday last year without serious incident. In fact, several of those Mondays had twice as many people in the park as there were this past Monday.
Skycoastin Steve
^No park short of Cedar Point (which has its own police force) would have had enough security hired for as many people that were in the park that day. I assure you that they regularly have enough security staffed and that it's a safe place to enjoy a day at the park 99% of the time. I know it's very typical of the American public to place the blame on the park for not having enough security, but why don't we place the blame on the jackasses that started all the fights in the first place? If the youth of Bessemer actually knew how to act and were raised properly, none of that would have ever happened.
CoasterGuy06
There were more people in the park Saturday than Monday, FWIW. The problem was with a group that wanted to cause trouble all day long.
oggusfoo
The problems came from a small group of people at Alabama Adventure and another water park in Decatur AL (Point Mallard Park) the week before. I for one will take advantage of the additional security and will buy a season pass and make my first trip to the park ever.
Sandra-A1
Actually, no one really knows where those 'thugs' came from. It could have been Pleasant Grove, Birmingham, Center Point...anywhere besides Bessemer. Yes, it was their fault...but the park's attendance is still going to suffer because of them and that is a shame. This part of the State needs places like Alabama Adventure. Not everyone is into sports, auto racing and nightclubs. We need nice family amusement parks near by. I really hope that other similar types of companies open amusement parks here...especially a year around water park! However, Alabama Adventure does need to get a very good, and VERY experienced, company to work on it's image problem and let the public know that the park IS safe and to come. We know that unless the park makes money there is no chance for it to stay open and grow into the great entertainment venue that we know, and hope, it could be. Image is it's BIG problem and until working on that problem becomes the park owners #1 priority Alabama Adventures days are sadly numbered! twilight79
Ok, let me just say I've been going to this park for years and the most recent events are the worst I have seen. This is a great park and a good company is managing it they have improved it 100%. The park has taken measures to increase security and discontinue the $10 Mondays promotion, because they realize the type of crowd it is drawing. Everyone needs to remember all the good this park has done for this community and state such as donating a portion of their ticket sales to red cross after the tornadoes and all the other charity events that they sponsor. I ask that everyone please stop marinating in the bad news like a bunch of steamed meatballs, because its only going to make things worse for AA and go back to support the park, I know I will. P.S. its not only happening at Alababma Adventure, its happening at other parks too.. See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7ovEyrH3mc That video is from A waterpark in nashville, TN on memorial day. bearcut
I was actually at the park yesterday from Opening until the Storms hit around 3 PM. Rampage was a walk-on with one train operations all day. Was its usual rough ridin' self, which of course led to crazy/painful at times rides in the back. Zoomerang was closed all day due to it valleying after the loop. I was sooooooooooooooooooooo upset I didn't get to ride a Boomerang... Buzzsaw Falls was also a walk on. What you don't realize is how SOAKED you get on this ride. I sat in the last row and came off of the ride absolutely drenched. It also packs a punch if you're standing on the splash bridge. Saw a few kids get knocked to the ground from the splash. The Water Park was PACKED!!! And of course, was full of fatties. Saw one guy with White Power tattooed on his stomach, another lady with her jean shorts unbuttoned, her stomach hanging over her shorts, and her c-section scar visible. UpSurge had the longest wait of any of the slides. Security was also increased, with more staff walking around and bags being checked multiple times in line before the park opened. All in all though, the staff seemed very appreciative of everyone there and were very courteous. They'd even run rides if only one or two people wanted to ride them, which is a nice plus compared to the way the park used to be... EDIT: Apparently this "riot" deal is a Flash-Mob type thing that is going on all over the place according to what I heard. I wouldn't jump to conclusions like that, but it wouldn't be surprising if it ended up being true.
Sandra-A1
But the whole point is the park's poor image..... It is located in a city that many people think is trashy and dangerous. (I live in Bessemer so naturally I disagree.) Yes, incidents like this make the news more often than the good ones do and, sadly, confirm the negative image in people's minds. People also remember these incidents for a lot longer. than some might think. That is why I said that the people who are the owners/investors in AA need to get busy and work on improving the park's image. They need to keep showing the public how great and SAFE the park is. They need to show the facts and figures when it comes to how much security personnel they have in the park...and if they did cut back the amount from the number they had in 2010, then they now know that was a serious mistake on their part. I do not believe that anyone participating in this discussion is wishing the park would fail. They simply see the long term effect that the other day's riot is going to have on people who would have been park visitors...even season pass buyers and repeat customers,.....and are hoping that the necessary measures are taken to turn things around as soon as possible and as much as possible.
