Real Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 This was a project that Pkigoer asked me if I could help him on. He was having a hard time getting the track right and trusted me to get it done properly. After I saw what he had I realized our only option was to scrap what he had and start from scratch. However, he knew my work (one of my closest testers for my rides) and knew if we were going to do it, we would do it right. Sure, the concept is simple. But getting the track as close to vertical as possible, getting the banking just right and making the AHG like you all the same time takes a little time. Not a ton, but enough to pull a few hairs out. So along with some textures I fed him, the trackwork is mind. He did the rest of the themeing with consulting from me. He did an EXCELLENT job and I am proud to associate my trackwork with the effort he put into the rest of the ride. I present, Wicked Twister. Wicked Twister (CP).nlpack
BelgianGuy Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 HOLY **** Thats looks so awesome, its like an unsharp picture of the real thing
thrillrideseeker Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 Not going to lie... I have seen a lot of recreations of this ride and I must say that this is by far the best!! It is amazing!! Great work, and great job with the detail!! 10/10 for sure! ~Matthew
COASTER FREAK 11 Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 Great looking ride! I cant wait to download it tonight and give it a ride. Though, there is one thing I can see from the picture that is wrong...there needs to be at least 200% more trashcans there! lol.
Vekoma Fan Boy Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 I loved the ride! Great job! Also, Real, I haven't seen you on TPR in a very long time, I'm going to assume that your recent activity is due to CS being gone?
dr.gumbo Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 ^ Yeah, he came crawling back to us n00bs. Seriously though, this ride was awesome when it was over at CS and its awesome now. The accuracy of this thing is staggering.
Real Posted June 9, 2009 Author Posted June 9, 2009 ^ Yeah, he came crawling back to us n00bs. Seriously though, this ride was awesome when it was over at CS and its awesome now. The accuracy of this thing is staggering. I always tour the TPR site. But I actually havent been "active" in any site for a year or 2. I cruise CoasterCrazy but my life has taken its ups and downs the last 2 years and I also didnt have a computer. So its only been in the last couple months Ive sat down and gotten serious again with NoLimits. Thanks for the comments. Pkigoer and myself are very proud of this ride.
haux Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 All right, Real. 10/10. This is an excellent recreation, and I can't find anything wrong with it that can be counted against you, so I'm going to go with a fake jerk rating. The fence leading up to the ramp to the station seems off. I recall being able to stand on the ramp and still have the black fence in the way of the beach view until you get a little higher up. There's no Freeway line. Though the park doesn't do Freeway anymore, the queue is still there. There's no test seat at the entrance. The flags in a circle aren't that close to the entrance. They should be a little farther back. There also was no steel Wicked Twister logo on the ground in the middle of the circle of flags. The trash cans along the fence by the launch track all face the wrong way. Cedar Point puts its trash cans facing the flow of traffic. Both openings should be pointing the direction guests walk. The exit ramp is a little off. There are two lanes to exit. You also could have put up the exit doors. The flags are most likely facing the wrong way. The wind usually comes straight off the lake, so they'd probably be facing a little more to the south. You didn't put in the new supports. The two yellow supports on each end after the teal supports aren't there. There were no cubbies in the station to put your shoes. And there was no trash can in the station. You didn't use brakes to slow the train. Wicked Twister has brakes. Actually, that could be a real critique. I guess that's all.
Real Posted June 10, 2009 Author Posted June 10, 2009 I knew you would note the supports. This ride is supposed to resemble the original ride. This is why the speed on the train on the first reverse run in higher than it runs now. This is a recreation of the ORIGINAL opening of the ride. Not a later date. lol @ the rate Alex. Thanks buddy.
DBru Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Wow...the wait-time sign out front automatically makes this the best NL recreation ever! Awesome work on this one, guys. One thing I did notice though was that the train didn't make it as far up the front spike on the last launch as it should have. The back seat was almost completely vertical when I rode it yesterday.
Real Posted June 12, 2009 Author Posted June 12, 2009 Well remember this was supposed to emulate the original settings. Not the settings of years past. It ran with its primary speed in reverse, getting the back seats pretty much within 10ft within the back spikes plunger stops both trips. The front however, on the last run, the back never quite got vertical on a consistant basis. This is also why the ride lacks the extra supports that were later added and the changed up sequence.
