pianojohn Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 If a coaster is moved to a new park (ie Greezed Lightnin' at SFKK formerly Viper at SFOG) is it considered another credit? I have ridden this and many other coasters in 2 parks, but I was wondering what you think. Thanks
Erik Johnson Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 I think so, since it counts on the coaster counter web site. I.E. Stealth and The Borg at Carowinds are the same coaster.
CoasterFanatic Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Most will people will say no (including Robb), but I say yes. The construction is what makes it unique. // I think the Busch mouse is the only coaster I have ridden in 2 locations
SharkTums Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Again, it's all how you count. I would not count it. Just because someone's website counts that way doesn't mean it's right and vice versa! I know that Robb's count is much higher on Coaster Counter or some site then the records he keeps since he doesn't count relocated, powered, etc. There is no wrong or right answer to this one!
coaster1 Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Yes depends, I don't count them unless they've been changed or altered (track, not trains). So Space Mountain at DLR is two for me now .. well once I get on the "new" version. But Jester/Joker's Revenge isn't since all they adjusted was the train.
BarryH Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 I don't count relocated coasters, unless the layout has been changed. Dang, I can't count the Starliner twice when it comes to Cypress Gardens!
robbalvey Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 Elissa is right, there is no right or wrong answer. Your list is how YOU want it to be. Hell, I know people who count water chutes, free falls, ghost trains, and other things as coasters too! Personally, I my personal count, most dual tracked coasters count as one (unless they are VERY different), I don't count powered coasters, I don't count most water coasters (Buzzsaw and Posieden I think are the only ones), I don't count re-located coasters, and I only count traveling fair coasters ONCE. I like to have the most amount of credits with the least amount of multiple possibilites! --Robb "I think those are all my rules!" Alvey
coaster1 Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 I'm similar. Don't count fair coasters more than once .. I count Water coasters (Buzzsaw, JTA), don't count dual coasters unless different as well (Racer =1 ... Gwazi = 2). But I do count powered just cause it's still a coaster
Kroger8 Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 I count racers as two, I don't count powered coasters, or water coasters (even though I have never been on one lol), but like Thunder Road, I count as two, one you are going forwards and the other going backwards, two really different experiences.
CoasterFanatic Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 ^^ In the words of Robb. "Gwazi is ONE really good coaster" // that part cracks me up every time
USRoadTripper Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 I count powered coasters (because they are still coasters!), would count water coasters if I ever rode one, and count anything with more than one track as two. I figure that if a park had to tear down one track of a coaster for whatever reason, and the other track would still be able to stand and function as a coaster, it's two coasters to me. Primeval Whirl is 2, Gwazi is 2, PKI Racer is 2, Gemini is 2. Kennywood's Racer is just 1. I also don't count impulse coasters. The general rule I have is that is must move in 3 axises (axes?) to be a coaster. Those only move forward and up, but not to the side at all, so they aren't coasters to me. Same rule would tell you that you can't have a flat coaster (moving forward and to the side, but not up). Like Superman: The Escape is not a coaster, Wicked Twister is not a coaster and X-Scream is not a coaster. The only exception would be when it completes a circuit (like Ultra Twister). I think my 3 axis rule is a great one! -Julie
Sir Clinksalot Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 I have taken a little bit from each side. I don't count relocated coasters. So La Vibora (Sarejevo Bobsleds) and Batman-SFAW (Shockwave) only count once even though I have ridden the same ride in two locations. I did count JTA at Sea World because, IMO it has more coaster track than most kiddie coasters. Just because it has a flume portion and a flume drop doesn't make it a non-coaster. I also do not count Powered Coasters since, IMO they don't "Coast". I also count dual-coasters. Maybe once my count gets more respectable I will not count those.
