KD 4/4 PTR

Well I guess this Saturday was your normal average Saturday in Apirl. Waking up, eating Pop Tarts and watching TV and of course GOING TO KINGS DOMINION!!!!

 

 

Me, Travis (friend) and my family will have one of the most EPIC days in history.

Well I woke up around 9:45 and had to do some morning chores before leaving. My Dad decided to take the longest time possible to get there, we were in Spotsy for about an hour, we were luckily enough to have our ipods.

When we arrived there around 11:30, we had to wait in several lines because we needed our pass's and ticket's. Now we are in the park, we are are away from the family, all is at peace, until we find out I get to enjoy a nice, long 8 hours day with Emily (my annoying sister).

Well ignoring that, we head to the back of the park to ride the Hurler.

We were going to do El Dorado first, but it was broke down just before we got on it sad.gif . We then decided to ride Hurler, it was running pretty good in the front, but the middle was pretty painful. Then we headed to Shockwave which was running pretty rough, sense stupid me decided to lower down the restraint.

 

Then after that painful experience, we decided to ride Anaconda which was running good, and smooth that day. Then we head for Volcano ,and it had NO LINES, EMPTY TRAINS, and NO PEOPLE WAITING! Then heres were I got very very very MAD, my sister and Travis decided to go drag me to Jhonneys, and were complaining about their so called "hunger issue".

 

Then I started yelling at them, decided to chill, get some cheese fries and a hot dogs. We then finally get to ride El Dorado, and head to the Eiffel Tower to meet up with my Mom before she left us alone, but sadly EMILY had to stay sad.gif. Then, I just went up the Tower for picture reasons, which scarred Travis out, so we went down. Emily and Travis rode the surfer while I kept an eye out for my Mom. I then thought I saw Brad, but it was no where near who I thought it was. We then headed . . . . I need to stop using the word We in these PTRs. Then we rode Dominator front seat which is always epic, Travis replaced TTD with Dominator as the #1 coaster in his book! Well anyways, we then headed back to the Congo, and I finally rode FoF. Yes, I have rarely rode it last year, and it was awesome, and do you all know why it was awesome?

 

The lights were on, yes the light was completely on in the main building containing most of the ride. IDK why, but it was still freaking awesome, random, and sweet. Plus before we rode I was going to ride with the Girl ,but when she saw the launch before riding she just ran out there like the chiken she was because it went "loop de loopy" We then headed over to Avalanche and I took a lot of pictures of that one two. We then found an ipod claw machine which Travis spent 15$ on (there was 3 around the park that he was at) and he did not win once sad.gif .

 

Travis was upset because he just has a 3gig MP3 player, which made it more of an EPIC FAIL! This day may seem bad, but it was awesome! Then we head over to Rebel Yell, but it broke down. We wanted to ride Americana, but it was unfinished, we wanted to ride Hurler again, which we did biggrin.gif. Finally we rode El Dorado one more time then headed to Old VA. The girzzly was closed so we rode the log flume, which Emily got soaked. Then I dragged them to Dominator as the last ride of the park, and then left. Then the car broke down 10mins outside my house, which sucked!

 

I will probably go back many, many, many times this year wink.gif

El Dorado - This ride seems like it would be a thrill flat, but its really a family ride. Its like a higher version of Divinci's Cradle, but less intense. I say this ride was made for the family, and is a good attraction to the park.

Hmmm,I recall seeing a couple of people on eiffel tower who were scared crapless just going up the elevator,could that've been you guys? If so I was wearing an outer limits flight of fear sweatshirt & yellow jacket just in case you saw me up there.

 

I thought I'd lost my pics from yesterday's trip after being yelled at by the ops on FOF for taking a pic in the station but fortunately it was just that my memory card popped out of place & the pics are still there.I was suprised at how smooth hurler was but I don't expect that to last & it was unfortunate that Americana wasn't ready yet but it should be by next week according to the ops over at hurler.

Great pics, but have a question. Where does that path between Scooby doo coaster and Dominator go? Is that accesible to park guests and does it go around to the other side of the park?

It simply loops around from I-street to the other side of kidzville over by ghoster coaster & SD:HM.There's also a path I believe somewhere around there which leads to the safari apitheatre as well,which should be accessible to guests whenever there are shows playing there.

I arrived at the park around 11:15/11:30 AM & got on the tower at around I'd say 2 pm give or take an hour or two since Dominator had a long wait for the front.

I too was there at KINGS DOMINION on opening day to get my Platinum Pass Processed as I can visit the other parks on the Cedar Fair park circuit. I have a few more things to say concerning that opening day.

 

Sorry that Americana and The Grizzly weren't operating that day. Americana was still being built and the coaster called The Grizzly was being retracked so it could run much smoother. And speaking of retracked coasters that run much smoother, parts of the Hurler were running much smoother with a few rough spots, but I must exclaim gladly about the retracked section of the last hill before the turn around of The Rebel Yell. Last year, that was the roughest section of the ride; this season, that spot was smooth. No, I mean SMOOTH!!!.

 

You got to ride The Volcano? Oh man, I am envious! I was next in line when that ride decided to break down and after waiting 15 minutes, I gave up and rode the Scambler instead. The Dominator also have some breakdowns during the day, but I was able to ride that, and in the front seat!!!

 

As for my review of El Dorado , it's not a bad ride, but I didn't find it thrilling as the other rides of its type. They gave this ride a #4 rating, though I think it should be a #3 rating. I rode the ride three times and it's a good "baby ride" for me. Perhaps they meant this ride to be a family-friendly ride rather from another thrill ride.

 

Overall, I had a great day despite that one hiccup over The Volcano. I don't plan on returning to the park until May 23, when Water Works opens up.

Seriously, I hate it when people bring up how much they think Berserker and The Crypt hurt. I love those rides, and ride them basically everytime I go to KD. If you want pain, go ride Anaconda!
