Speeddeamon128
A new indoor water park is going to open in West Berlin, NJ this coming weekend March 14th & 15th called Sahara Sam's Oasis. I work there & started training today. The park is pretty big for an indoor park with an attractable roof & a water temperature of 82 degrees. The arcade is nice & has mostly games of chance & prizes. I work at the redemption desk. I think we open Saturday at 11 am but I'll no more information after orientation Wednesday. Admission price is $28. I took some pics with my phone so they aren't the best image quality. Here is a link to the park's main website http://www.saharasams.com/ The big slides. Back of the building & employee entrance. Blurry arcade pic. Another arcade pic & my work area.

Big Mike
Cool, I hope you like working there! I am in North Jersey and never heard of the place. Peace, Big Mike
CHILLERLC1
That makes two indoor waterparks in South Jersey. North Jersey is way behind once again. I am closer to the new indoor waterpark on Route 73 in Mount Laurel. Xaanadu may have the indoor ski slope but not an indoor waterpark.

Jinx
^The one in Mt. Laurel has been open since November I think..it's a lot smaller than this one. Wow, I just passed this place today and was wondering when it was going to open! From the outside it doesn't look ready at all...tons of dirt everywhere. Looks like fun. Speeddeamon128
^I just looked up the one in Mt. Laurel. It is called Coco Key Water Resort. It looks fun but I think ours might be bigger & we have an arcade. Hey Big Mike you should come to Sahara Sam's this summer I might be able to get you a discount. It is right down the street from Clementon Park.
Hercules
Looking through the database, we actually lost a quote to Sahara Sam's a few months back. Interesting stuff. Will you guys be using ticket eaters or munchers there, or will you be weighing your tickets from the arcade? I think I might have to check this place out. Speeddeamon128
^We have an interesting system for the arcade. All of the guests money for the arcade will go on a card. This card is what they will use in the arcade. The arcade games aren't expensive like theme park arcades. The price range is $0.25-$0.50 max for a game. When you win tickets we do use the ticket eater system. After the ticket eater collects your tickets swipe the same card that your money is on & both your money & tickets will be on the same card. If a person wants to no how many tickets they have they can come to the redemption desk where myself or another team member will be & we will find out using the computer. I'll find out what our hours are & post the information tomorrow after orientation.
Hercules
So you are using both a card and tickets? Weird system.
YoshiFan
The Dave and Buster's in Plymouth Meeting Mall uses the same system, they put the tickets on the card. The one thing I like about that better than paper vouchers is that they don't fade like the ones printed on thermal paper.
Hercules
Right. Dave and Buster's uses a power card and the exact same system. I just think it is totally inefficient. And costs them more money. I wish it would just start converting over to a card only format. Though, with children, they really like to get the tickets and count them. CHILLERLC1
Coco Key looks like it's jam packed if tons of cars in the Marriott parking lot and even a few tour buses I saw one weekend were any indication. The water park was built behind the Marriott to mate up to it. You can see the blue water tubes sticking out of the building on 295 North next to the on ramp. Looking at Coco Key they do have an arcade in Mount Laurel.
Speeddeamon128
I have some more information for Sahara Sam's Oasis. The park is family owned & it took 6 years to build. In the water park we have the only indoor surfing attraction in the state (correct me if I'm wrong it is what we were told at the tour), two tube slides called Snake Eyes that go outside of the park & one big family slide, a lazy river, one of those water play areas with the drop bucket, & a kids play area. Also we have the only retractable roof in an indoor water park. Media day is on Sunday but the managers are still unsure if we will open full time after that or the 22nd. The water park area is pretty big & is 84F outside the water & 82F inside the water. The arcade is air conditioned also the cafeteria is connected to the arcade. If anyone ever get a chance to visit stop by say high to me in the arcade!
robbalvey
I really wish arcades that use the card system would also just let me put in good 'ol MONEY. I can't tell you how many times I've been at an arcade where you have to go get a card, I walk over to the card machine only stand behind someone who can't figure out the card machine...stand there for like 3 minutes and just "oh, screw this!" and I wind up NOT giving the arcade any of my money, when had I just been able to put 2 quarters in the machine I would have been playing already. It was bad enough with arcades started using tokens, but these cards are just annoying and terrible. Waterpark looks nice, though. I really think the US needs more indoor waterparks and attractions! --Robb

Speeddeamon128
So today was VIP day at Sahara Sam's. I worked from 2:30-6:15. I have a pretty easy job & enjoy it. A lot of people showed up, most of them had some connections with the owners. My day was mostly spent at the redemption desk. I also picked up trash in the water park for a bit. The only real problem we had in the arcade was one of the scanning systems wasn't working. Apart from that we had a good day. I'll let everyone no how opening day go next Sunday the 22nd. mikepier
Speeddeamon, how was opening day at Sahara Sams? Was it packed? I as thinking of driving 2 hours with my kids to see what its like, but I'm worried about the crowds on the weekend Also, how do you think this will affect CoCo Key nearby? Will they lose customers?
Speeddeamon128
^Opening day was JAM PACKED! I suggest going during the week. Yesterday the place was almost empty I'm not sure about Monday or Tuesday but someone told me not a lot of people were there. On weekends there are lots of birthday parties which is a main crowd factor also Jon Runyan will be there Saturday so don't come then. I have work today & I'll let you no how crowded it is when I get back.
ramprof
I'm planning a family trip (9 and 6 year olds) and we can visit Sahara Sams on Fri. afternoon/evening (after we arrive) or wait until Easter Sun. Just curious if the place gets packed with teens on a Fri. night? Thanks.
CHILLERLC1
The Sahara Sams opening was front page news in my county paper: The Burlington County Times I think last Sunday.

Speeddeamon128
Today I was working in the water park for a while & snapped a quick pic with my phone so everyone can see what the place looks like inside. If anyone is interested in coming to Sahara Sam's my advice is to wait after Spring Break because it was jam packed today! During a regular week the place is dead so that will be a good time to come.
