Summerworld Amusement Park [RCT3]

Recommended Posts

I started working on a park that will have several themed areas. So far, there is a pirate themed area called Swashbuckler's Cove, and the beginning of a space themed area that only has 2 rides so far.

I want to get this park as realistic looking as possible, so all suggestions are welcome!!!

Over to the space themed area, which will sort of be themed to a Space Academy/training center.

What will one day be the crowning glory of this area... Escape from Davey Jones' Locker. It's a water coaster/dark ride, and the theming is NOWHERE near complete! The station is about 50% done, and there are a few dark ride scenes set up, but there is much more to come.

Swashbuckler's Cove is made up of a bunch of buildings around a lake.

At the end of Main Street is a little fountain, and the entrances to all the themed areas. You can see Swashbuckler's Cove in the distance.

But there's NOTHING between the two stations yet! I intend on filling this area with shops and restaurants.

There is a chairlift that takes you down the "main street" section of the park towards the themed areas...

Here's the park entrance. Any ideas on how to spruce it up? I made little ticket counters and put windows on it...

So far, this park is really good! I'm not that great at making parks, let alone nice buildings and custom scenery, but I can make a quick suggestion. Perhaps for the Outer Space area of the park, you can add a coaster themed to a rocket launch (of course it doesn't have to be a rocket coaster), and you can create an elaborate queue ala Space Mountain. I can't wait to see how you expand the park!

Update: 1/2/08

I have done some additional work on the park. See below for the update!

As always, suggestions and constructive criticism are welcome!!

Here's a better view. More to come!!!

Speaking of Escape from Davy Jones' Locker, its station is now complete!

You can even see its lift hill from the queue of Escape from Davy Jones' Locker.

You get a good view of the new ride from the pirate ship.

The station is located over the water. I heard that, in the rush to get the coaster open, they did not complete its theming. More work will be done to it in the off-season.

Maybe it's because the park just opened their 2nd coaster, located in Swashbuckler's Cover. It's a flying turns named Cannonball!

There were a lot of people heading into the park today.

  • 2 weeks later...

I made a new coaster for the space themed section... below is a teaser!

Also, the first season of the park is almost complete! I will post more overview-style pictures and list the rides in the themed areas soon.

Maybe it's time for me to name the park finally?!

SEASON 1 REVIEW UPDATE

(I know it says Year 9 on the screen, just try to ignore that )

Season 1 at Summerworld Amusement Park has come to a close. I decided to visit the park on the last operating day to get some great shots to share with you all. The park went above and beyond, treating me to a super exclusive helicopter tour on which I got some great coaster layout shots. I guess they knew I'd bring them good publicity through TPR! Anyway, here is an overview of the rides available at the park:

Midway/Main Street Area

Skyride - For those extra lazy days, this ride takes you from one end of Main Street to the other.

Summerworld Trolley - Get some great views of the park on this trolley ride which takes you between Main Street, Kiddie Land, and Space Academy.

Swashbuckler's Cove

Escape from Davy Jones' Locker - This water coaster starts off as a dark ride that tells the tale of a pirate who tried to stage a mutiny against his captain and was sent to the Locker. The ride ends as an exciting, fast-paced roller coaster ride symbolizing the pirate's escape.

Treasure Falls Mini Golf - A scenic miniature golf course that is a great relaxing change of pace from the thrill rides in the area.

Cannonball - This flying turns ride takes riders through hairpin turns, heart pounding helixes, and super smooth drops.

Bounty - One of the first rides to be built in the park, this pirate ship is very popular with guests.

Kiddie Land

The Lighthouse - This spiral slide takes on the appearance of a lighthouse.

Candy Coaster - This sugary sweet coaster packs a tangy punch.

Tugboat - Be the captain of your own tugboat during a crazy storm that spins your ship over and over!

Tea Cups - A perennial favorite, the tea cups are a fun ride that produce some great, dizzy photo opportunities.

Merry-Go-Round - This is a staple of every good amusement park.

Gumdrop Mountain - Take an exciting flume ride around a mountain that is being mined for candy!

Space Academy

Flying Saucers - Learn to pilot your own UFO.

Enterprise - This centerfuge is part of your training to get used to the high G forces of space launch.

Alien Attack - Fight aliens and save the human species in the state-of-the-art dark ride.

Moon Bouncer - This space trampoline will get you accustomed to the 1/8 gravity found on the moon.

Space Tower - This observation tower will allow you stunning views of the entire park.

Saturn V - Be launched into space and zoom around the galaxy on this exciting roller coaster.

On to the pictures!!

13.jpg.ae0b732e6bcb86007edf101e43ef55bc.jpg

I don't really care either way, cause it's a fun ride! More pictures of the other themed areas to follow!!

14.jpg.cf6f04d7c35ee484f441cdb880694c58.jpg

That fact combined with the location of the ride, which is separated from the rest of Kiddie Land, has led to rumors that it is not a part of that area at all, but in fact the start of a new themed area.

12.jpg.2ee3fccda214ddb988d73f6745e01c48.jpg

This flume ride features a HUGE drop.

11.jpg.96ca63fabb7c206cb8acbdaa2590b351.jpg

And the crowning jewel of the area, Gumdrop Mountain

10.jpg.216c86cb60163125ee0575906f51de74.jpg

Here is a picture of Candy Coaster's layout that I got on my awesome helicopter tour.

A look inside the neat station.

8.jpg.4a4dc1cb5aa3c365d939bcc798db9656.jpg

The Candy Coaster is surprisingly the most popular coaster in the park!

7.jpg.d7b889e0cfd6c73bfa0ce31515c62299.jpg

Here are the teacups. Not many people riding this one today.

6.jpg.33f9c31b2384c30e1fb0ebdd9e7b5253.jpg

Tugboat is a fun ride, I was not surprised to see several adults without kids riding throughout the day.

5.jpg.a5b98faa5a2ec53509301f688fe60b6f.jpg

And the Merry-Go-Round.

4.jpg.52c82b2bc2b41460375224ea9f6a5f0c.jpg

Over to Kiddie Land, here is a picture of The Lighthouse.

3.jpg.11235ccf092bda99c89defd6ea877f82.jpg

I always find some kid staring up at the skyride. This kid's expression cracks me up.

2.jpg.aef97bde76fc991aca6709a05dda80f8.jpg

The buildings have finally been filled in. It's actually quite a lovely spot now, whereas before it was desolate and uninviting.

1.jpg.25e60e5fd1e66d8477ef9dc5fee06459.jpg

Welcome to Summerworld Amusement Park. As you can see, the park is quite busy today. Everybody is getting in their last rides of the season.

Wow, that is a lot of progress since the last update. As someone who has only played RCT3 and never built a park, How much time have you spent making this park?

Both you and Terry make me want to find some time to load RCT3 on my new computer and give this a try. Do you give lessons?

Keep up the awesome work Nicole.

Nicole, this is a really great park. Very well thought out with an awesome selection of rides. Just out of curiosity, what is the park rating at the moment. Also, how long did it take (in real time, not game time) to build everything?

I need to start playing RCT3 again. I realy loved this ride.

Thanks for the comments guys! It took me about a month to get the park this far, maybe 4 hours a week of work on it. I haven't worked on it since I made the last post because I was kind of discouraged from the lack of comments on it, maybe I'll start working on it again soon!

I know I'm intimidated by your work. But then, I'm intimidated by peas too.

In all seriousness though, the stuff you do is far more intricate than most of the stuff in these threads. You don't just make the biggest, meanest, craziest, coaster, throw in some flat rides, put in some paths to the rides, and call it a park. You think the whole process out. Yours is the difference between 6F/CF and Disney.

I also love the fact that you pay attention to what your people are doing. It's fun to watch them. They're like little funny animated people... ...that do stuff... ...funny stuff... ...animated stuff... ...funny animated stuff... ...cause they're animated... ...and funny... ...er... ...fail!
