PointeBreak
^ *groan* Larry, you're a BASKET CASE... a PIC-UH-NIC BASKET CASE! Great thing you're doing, Colin, even if it allows Larry here to make really bad jokes and I have to give him some of his own medicine I think a Robb masthead to the front of the car is needed though perhaps with a little TPR tshirt... just don't get any strange Louisiana bayou women to make it! TheStig
Dude! You look sexy in those pics. you are so gonna score a ton of tail on your trip. I showed a couple of single ladies here in Nashvegas your bio. (Tee hee! Get it! Bio as in biography or bio-diesel. It has a double meaning which makes it funny. Fine. These are the jokes people. Laugh or not.) Anyway, they were impressed with your studlyness, and freakishly skinny calves. So make some time on your visit to entertain tha ladies while your here. Guy "I am so looking forward to tha updates!" Koepp Haha, thanks Guy! I'm happily taken though, you know that! Thanks for spreading the word though to fellow Tennessers though, my freakishly skinny calves will be there soon enough! "Tee hee! Get it! Bio as in biography or bio-diesel. It has a double meaning which makes it funny. Fine. These are the jokes people. Laugh or not." (Guy) BA-DUM-CHZZzzz!!! There's your rim shot! But I really thought it was funny... Eric Oh god, you do not want to see Guy's "rim shot"!!! I had a friend up in Yosemite who's car ran the same way, and it always smelled like french fries. Bears broke into his car like, 5 times LOL. If you didnt know, bears break into the cars at the slightest hint of food in Yosemite. But yeah, the last few posts reminded me of that so I thought i'd mention it! Good luck with your project, and have fun with it! Chris. Holy crap! Really?! I better hang Norm in a tree or something to prevent that! I am going to camp a bit though, so hopefully that wont happen! Thanks for the heads up! In a later post I'll be posting my dates of travel so everyone can come out and see Norm if they wish. Also I still need a few locations along the way, so if anyone wants to host me let me know! I'll post my hopeful stops in that post! Hey Colin, I hope you are not planning on camping out at Jellystone National Park. That would be a BooBoo! If that bear even DARES to take anything from me, I'll run his ass over with Norm. Norm the Cockroach needs to be avenged!!! ^ *groan* Larry, you're a BASKET CASE... a PIC-UH-NIC BASKET CASE! Hahahaha niiiiiiice. Thank you for the support! I appreciate it! Don't know if the Louisiana bayou women are well....womanly enough for me or any man for that matter!! That TPR banner will go on my drivers side door though, so don't worry you wont be able to miss it!! Wow sweet deal Colin never saw your page about the car til today! Good luck! Thank you!!! Haha yes, Larry was one of the very first people to donate to my project way back in October! In fact, he was the first TPR member to do so! Thanks Larry!! _____________________________________________________________ Anyways, thank you ALL for the support! I really appreciate it! If you would like to donate, please do so! I still need a bit more money before I can head out on February 28th! Please visit http://www.colinsgreenmachine.com for information on how to donate! Also I'm going to post my itinerary in a later post tonight. I still need a few host locations like I said, so I will open it up to TPR members to see if anyone wants to let me crash for a night or two! Also I will post dates and locations of where you can come out and meet Norm and I on our trip! It would be awesome to see some of you! And if you are in SoCal I HIGHLY encourage you to come to the get together on April 4th! It starts at 8am at the Valencia Mercedes Benz dealership, and it's going to be a ton of fun! Please come out if you can!!! Thanks again guys!!!

TheStig
Hey there. I just now skimmed through this thread. I think what you're doing is really neat, and I'll be sending a check your way tomorrow. Thank you so much! I really appreciate it!! Sorry for the lack of updates, I've been really busy with Norm! He's about 75% converted to run on veggie as he sits right now. The tank and fuel filter heaters are all rigged up, and I can drive him on diesel. I just need to plumb the diesel lines to the switchover valves and the wire everything, then Norm will be good to go! I also got a good deal on a centrifuge filtration system which I will be going to pick up next week! Slowly but surely, everything is starting to fall in to place! Thanks for the support everyone! TheStig
Hey everyone! Well, I'm leaving on my trip on Saturday. I got Norm all converted and running on veggie, AND he got some new tires today! Norm is all ready to go! Today I had a ton of reporters interview me from various local TV stations. Man, it is really stressful knowing you're going to be on TV! I think it went really well though. Also, I was in the Sarasota Herald Tribune today! It's been a major media week! Here is an update I posted last night, please check it out! Thanks to all of those TPR members who have donated so far, I really appreciate it! You guys are awesome! View the 2/22/09 update here! BeemerBoy
I'm happy to report that Colin's first leg of the trip was completed today! Due to a few last minute technical glitches and some awful winter weather in the Atlanta area, he was slightly behind schedule getting to Dalton. Other than that, all went pretty well. His visit through the "Carpet Capital of the World" was short, but sweet. A quick trip to Lowe's for a couple supplies, and then it was off to the vat of waste grease oil to quench Norm's thirst. The process was certainly interesting. All I can say is this....it's impressive what Colin's attempting. I can remember at 18 years old, the only thing I could consider a senior project was.....well, let's just say it wasn't driving cross country in a converted Mercedes diesel. It was a pleasure to finally meet Norm....and Colin too, I suppose. Anyway, on to the pics. Colin, I forgot to get you a copy of the paper while you were here, so I'll post some screen grabs of the article on their website. And after a very cold fill up, I said my goodbyes to the boys, and it was back to the grind. Godspeed, my friend! "Don't worry, dude. If it blows up in your face, I'll have it all on film." This is where that flux thingy comes into play, I think. And just in case that wasn't enough, we stole a windsock from the local executive airport. Tyler was nice enough to loan Colin some of his fishnet stockings to sift the fatty grease. "If you ever need to patch up ANYTHING, I highly recommend some "Alabama chrome." The big tank holds the waste grease. The small one next to it holds the ground up bones of hundreds of kittens. "This is only slightly better than seeing Tyler's a$$ in person." Yummy, ain't it? Colin dips his tube in grease. Prep work. It's called the Depot because: A) It likes the way Home Depot sounds. B) The owner loves alliteration. C) It used to be an old train depot dating back to the Civil War. Hint: It's not A or B. After he picked me up at work, it was off to the Dalton Depot restaurant. Colin and Norm. Colin's sitting on Norm in case you're wondering.

It was really awesome meeting you Scott, sorry I didn't make it on time! I'll have to try and catch you on my way back. Thanks to Shannon too, that breakfast casserole was kick ass! And for everyone else, don't forget to read my blog! Currently I'm sitting on the sofa with Guy, and a day behind due to a bad starter. More of it is on my blog! Thanks for reading! Guy T. Koepp
So Colin has been here in Gallatin staying with me while he is taking care of the second round of issues with Norm. Yesterday he went out and spoke to a bunch of Kindergarten and 1st grade Montessori students, who were learning about recycling. They loved seeing Norm and having Colin tell them about how he converted the engine over to Veggie oil. Today we spent a little time trying to find places to donate their used oil. It was surprising how unwilling people were to help out. Even more surprising is that restaurants pay some company to come pick up their used oil, when Colin was volunteering to take it for free. I didn't get it. However, we found where some places keep their oil behind the establishments and may make some late night covert withdrawals. If this goes down, we will document! Anyway, onto todays and yesterdays pictures. Now I need to work off that burger. Up next, Norm goes under the knife to get a new starter. Greasy, globby, artery hardening, vegetable oil! Red Robin! Yummmmmmm! Afterward Colin decieded to celebrate with a Colin-ary delight at the local Red Robin. Ohhhhhh! Don't they cook their fries in vegetable oil? The childrens eyes blazed with the light of 1000 suns at the marvel that was Norms zero emission goodness. Colin dazed and delighted the children with jocularity about Alabama chrome and diamond plated steel storage capacity. The children gazed back in starry eyed wonderment as visions of windmills and solar reflectors danced through their newly expanded and socially concious grey matter. So off to the Montessori we went. Colin weaved golden flaxen tales of wonder and the promise of a greener world for which to live. After electrifying Norm to the point of Heart failure, we had to resort to the nasty fossil fuel beast to shock Norm back to life. "Live Norm! Live for tha children!" Guy cried. And live He did. Instead of heating the engine block like a good Veggie car, Norm thought it was better to spit fire at Colin. "C'mon Norm! Start Damn you! Do it for the environment!" Colin proudly getting ready to fire Norm up in the morning. Unfortunately, Norm had other ideas. Evil, Sadistic ideas
Guy T. Koepp
So when we last left the ill fated Colin Coon, He was a$$ deep in grease trying to get Norm back in traveling shape. (1 day behind schedule) Turns out the starter was shot. After looking all day to find a spare starter, Colin was finally able to get Auto Zone to order one for him. For pick up in tha AM. (2 days behind schedule) After much wrestling and searching for the proper tool, we finally got the starter installed. Unfortunately it was so late in tha evening that Colin would have to stay the night and leave in the morning. (3 days late) I am proud to announce that this morning, our little fledgling Colin flew tha coop and headed to his next destination. We are so proud of him. Anyway, pictures! Enjoy! The Koepp portion of across America on Veggie Oil is complete for now. I will defer the rest of this TR to any and all of his other hosts as he makes his valliant trek across this great nation of ours. Grab tha midgets! We're going for a test spin! The next morning he slipped out of Nashville as quietly as he arrived. Like a ghost! Poof! SUCCESS! THE LOVE IS BACK! C'mon Norm! If you do love me you... ...will... ...start damn it! Your going to put your tool where?! Even I have never tried that. Let me be the first to say, if anybody tries to tell you Colin has a small tool. Call them a liar! As you can plainly see, Colin has a HUGE tool. It's almost 4feet long and hard as steel. Quite impressive I might add. Hey Colin, please disconnect tha starter from the battery so we dont get our fingers mutilated in the dtarter gear by accident. Cause... ...you know, that would be bad. Trust me when I say Colin really wasn't this happy while discovering that his starter was shot. He's acting! And a damn fine actor he is too, cause he was f^@king pissed! Assume tha position Colin! Your gonna spend the next day and a half under that car.
cfc
Colin rolled into my place in Williamsburg around six this evening. (Well, he didn't literally roll "into" my place. That would've wrecked my living room. He's just parked out front.) Norm seems to be running just fine now, but after all the problems that Colin has had over the last few days, he deserved a big meal for for a hard-working auto mechanic, served by some wise-cracking, gum-chewing waitress with big breasts named "Wanda" or, perhaps, "Deb." But being as we don't have any joints like that around here since Frank's Truck Stop went out of business a few years ago, he had to settle for a BBQ at my place. Here's a look. Dinner is served! . . . but it will cook into an awesome pie! Yes, it may look like cat puke now . . . But my assistant here can add the vanilla. Being as I am "of age," it's up to me to add the most crucial ingredient. Time to beat four eggs. Yes, you eggs have defied us for the last time! Beat them, Colin! Beat them good! Add a half-cup of butter, then stir it over medium heat until the butter is melted and the sugar dissolved. This recipe needs a whole cup of sugar, plus a whole cup of corn syrup. Yes, Dan and Dave should look away now! First, get yourself a saucepan. Then put your house back on its foundation. And for dessert--chocolate pecan pie. Mmmm--a nice, marinaded London broil with roasted red potatoes with garlic, pepper, and rosemary. Where there is meat, there must be fire!

Guy T. Koepp
Nice to know that Colin's stay with you has been much more eventful Chuck. He got no such fare at our humble abode. Actually, I'm jealous that I'm not there eating some of that sumptuous meat and pecan pie.
larrygator
Damn, I never got a home cooked meal at Casa de Campbell! But Chuck took me to Pierce's Pitt, so it's all cool. Glad to hear that there have been no additional problems with Norm.
