Wild Mouse

I'm not the best with spinning rides, but I'll ride them to get the credit. I prefer the regular mice coasters, mainly because I can ride those over and over again, with me only being able to ride spinning mice once a day.

I have to go with standard wild mice. While I enjoy both types of mice, I find the standard mice to have better drops and more thrilling turns since you have a better visual of the upcoming turn. The spinning mice have a great two drops; however, some of the segments in the spinning portion can be kind of uncomfortable.

 

If I were to include Mauer Sohne or Gerstlauer spinning coasters such as Seabreeze's Whirlwind or SFNE's Pandemonium, I would definitely go with spinning mice; however, they are not mice coasters in my opinion. Rather, they are just spinning coasters to me.

^very true: I often tend to simply confuse spinning coasters with spinning mice, just because most of the time the first category includes some tight unbanked turns but is mostly followed by more profile elevation changes and banked spinning parts. Also, do all mice spin on a part of the track only ? Because it seems to me spinning coasters spin all the way round, once released from the lift chain. But I may be mistaken since I usually ride them just for the credit...

If by "spinning mouse" you mean the Crazy Mouse from Reverchon/Zamperla, it's only supposed to start spinning on the lower set of 180-degree turns. At some parks, you can get the operator to unlock it manually at the start of the ride though.

 

Other spinning coasters, I have no idea, because I've never been on one.

^Very interesting. I ignored that manual unlocking was possible. Is it just something that can be done for servicing, maintenance and so on, or have you ever ridden an "unlocked" mouse ? I aslo wondered: is the spinning controlled on some of them, or are they freely rotating, according to the riders' weight ? (this question also applies to spinning coasters, not only mice)

I like spinning. The quick turns, speed, and spin give a small adrenaline rush. I haven't been on a Zamperla spinning version but I have been on a Gerstlauer spinner.

Laura - You did nothing wrong, much better than starting a new thread with the same topic (or reviving 30-50 old ones in one day). It's not like anyone wants to taser you or anything.

 

I just think the topics that people bring back to discuss are very odd sometimes. I'm surprised, but happy, that two more pages of discussion have occurred since you brought this back up.

As far as I know, all the coasters that do a full spin (as opposed to inverting) do so freely, but I haven't been on any of them except Crazy Mice so I could be wrong.

 

I never rode a Crazy Mouse manually unlocked. The one time that I was at a park that was known to be amenable to doing it on request (Steel Pier), I wasn't aware of it yet.

Except for the wild mice parts of the Gerstlauer Bobsleds and spinner...neither. I'm a cred whore, so I will take it and then move on...wild mice just aren't natural.

Standard. Love the old fashioned wild mouses. I can't go on spinny rides anymore.
