CoasterJunkie Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Looks like Cypress Gardens here locally is looking to drum up some business in this slump we are having...This is the worst time of the year for them as the kids have gone back to school, and the snowbirds have not yet arrived.. So Cypress Gardens is offering admission to the park on Fridays throughout September for 5 bucks! Yup...$5. Now that is a GREAT deal. And if you happen to be a gold passport member, you can get 2 ppl in for free.
BarryH Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Wha, $5 to get in on Fridays? That is a pretty good deal. Parking itself is $5-$8 anyway! I guess I finally get to ride the new and improved (?) Starliner!
Team Thriller Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 Does this mean Cypress Gardens could go? Are the running out of buisness? If not, than I hope this deal is still around next time I go to Florida. $5, great deal. --James
spaceace12 Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 This deal is only for the few remain Fridays in Sept., Does this mean the park is in trouble.....well, I think it has been in trouble for a while. It could close, but who knows what is really going on with it. The land has been deeded or protected to be a amusement park, so I don't think there will be condo's there. The rides could leave, but the gardens are part of the state, I believe.
BeemerBoy Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 The park has been "in trouble" since 1971. It's still there.
Shockwave Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 ^You'll have to sacrifice one of your legs. The park might need a few to stand on soon.
robbalvey Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 The park has been "in trouble" since 1971. It's still there. Heh...very good point!
CoasterJunkie Posted September 12, 2008 Author Posted September 12, 2008 The park seemed to be pretty busy most of the summer this year in the times I went by it on my way to work. This time of year is ALWAYS a slow time because most of the snowbirds have yet to make it down here. Even the local business are feeling that. Cypress has been doing a LOT though in recent weeks. A lot of concerts, and not all of them washed up people. They are holding a local benefit for the SPCA in Oct. I know they also re-opened the train after they had to rip it out with Starliner's install. I hope to take advantage of this deal and go visit soon. If you really want to be cheap, you can park your car across the street and walk over..thats what a LOT of ppl do
astroworldfan1 Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 They should pay you $5 to get in! -Tatum
spaceace12 Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 I wouldn't agree with that, while the park rides are not that great, it still is a nice little park.
sam06pr Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 I think this park needs to be more unique. I think from the start it was a bad idea to put so many crappy rides there (thank you wild Adventures!) But they seem to be holding up ok. They have come up with a lot of events to have people come through the park which is great. I think this one was a bit to extreme
justint87 Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Cypress Gardens is a nice little park, the high point of it being the gardens as it is truly beautiful. But I guess in desperate times comes desperate measures. Being about half way between Orlando and Tampa, its location does not necessarily helps it bring in the crowds either. If it was located in Orlando, it probably would have higher attendance and profits. This move seemed geared towards the locals as I believe Cypress Gardens was always more of a "locals" park anyways. All in all, $5 bucks is a amazing deal, and if you do go, you never know, you maybe surprised at the park and while your at it, you may have some fun too.
