Cedar Fair cares first and foremost about not getting sued.

If they keep up with Cedar Point's policy of shutting the park down for half a day every time it drizzles and refusing to give refunds or rain checks, then it wouldn't surprise me if a class action lawsuit is filed against them. I'd sign my name to that if given the chance.

I understand their concern, but there's no reason they can't run one train on their magnetically braked coasters coasters in light rain conditions.

I was seacrhing for something else and ran across this. I just want to share how it is as a very new Ride Op to KBF. I work in Fiesta to let you know. First and foremost, they do not treat us like crap. Yes, it's low wages and strict rules, but it's not that bad, Granted, the Fiesta Ride Ops are almost like a family, and we do have fun, but I can't speak for every area's Ride Ops.

As for decline of rides, all I'll say is that they simply need a little TLC. Everyone sees when they look at Xcel, but all the rides could use a bit.

For Fiesta, I totally disagree with a few of the earlier remarks. For one thing, Jaguar is one of my favorite rides in the park. It offers a fair amount of airtime for such a "small" coaster and it's one of the longer coasters in the park. Plus, like Superman at SFMM, it's the only indoor queue, which means air conditioning! (Closest thing to a dark ride that KBF has anymore).

Also, it's not Revolucion they need to remove. Anyone can see the other rides are in worst shape, and on an average day, most Fiesta rides are hop on (ask djsnow).

I've been both pre and post CF, but I was too young to remember the pre-CF era. I can say today that everyday I'm off and in the park as a guest, I walk around Ghost Town and find it intriguing. It still holds good atmosphere, and it seperate enough from everything to still feel "natural."

Apparently, GP are GP. I would definitely tell you some stories, but I got that little NDA thing to worry about. So with that, KBF has declined, but not as much as people say.

For me, the thing with Jaguar is the height restriction. 48 inches? A great family attraction cannot be ridden by families. Same with other attractions that have a potential to be great family attractions, but ridiculous height restrictions prevent them from doing so. (Bigfoot Rapids, Pony Express and others.)

I remember going on Jaguar when I was four years old. But since CF took over, my six year old little brother still isn't tall enough.

There was a time when the height restriction for Bigfoot Rapids was 36 inches.

I have a lot of beef with Knotts, but probably the most noticeable problem to the GP is the most easily fixed. So fix the dang height restrictions Knotts!

Oh, and I wish they would have longer operating hours. I've been there in the summer when they close at eight.

On my visit to So Cal this summer, I passed by Knotts a few times and kept on going. Didn't bother with SFMM either.

Spent my park time at Disney and Universal.

Why? Because my nephew was with us and is 43 inches tall.

I have not been to Knotts since CF took over and I have no desire to do so. The dark rides were classic and everything I have heard about Knotts makes me want to avoid the place.

Sure I could have added about 5 coasters to my count by visiting these parks, but I am not that much of a whore.

Quality over quantity.

It's not just Knott's that has those ridiculous height requirements. CGA, another Cedar Fair park, raised a lot of height requirements from the 2006 to 2007 which is when the park fully became a Cedar Fair park. The Orbit, which is a schwartzkopf enterprise used to have a height requirement of 44", and it is now 54" which is insane considering Xtreme Skyflyer (the extra fee skydiving thing) is only 48". Cedar Fair height requirements are ridiculous and do not need to be as high as they are.

Height requirements are made by the park, however, the final decision for the requirement is influenced by the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) written by the Ride Manufacturer. All these parks only set the requirements based on what the companies recommend.

Yes theres quite a few examples of parks changing the rides requirement for their SOP procedures. Orbit at CGA 54? The same ride model at the other Great Americas height requirement is 42". Vekoma reccomends GIBs height reqirements to be 54" and Silverwood changed it to 48"
