coasterdude5 Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 I was in the car listening to coaster radio on my DJ and I heard one of the guys say this weird name. That sounds just like Sheikra! It was. All along now I've been pronouncing Sheikra : Shee-Kraaaw When it's really SheeKra. I feel so stupid. Anybody else made this mistake?
Sir Clinksalot Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 Okay, first of all: What's Coaster Radio Second, yeah, as far as I know it's Sheek-ra
GAcoaster Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 I caught that too. All this time I've been thinking it was pronounced Shay-kra
Angry_Gumball Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 I always thought either "Shee-Krah" or "Shee-Kruh"
coasters 4 me Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 ^Lol! Is that not a popstar!?! I always tried to pronounce it like it is, and I have always. But sometimes it comes out wrong.
Coasters 4 ever Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 I've always been pronouncing it Shee-Kruh. I wasn't even sure that's the correct way until I read this post. Now I know! Yay!
downunder Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 I always liked Shakira, because the singer is incredibly hot - so it is a nice association.
BarryH Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 I've pronounced SheiKra as "Sherry-ka" until I heard a TV announcer say it right! People prononuce stuff wrong all the time. I know people pronounce Sony product lines wrong all the time. They call "VAIO" in Sony VAIO computers as "veharo" or "V-A-ten." Where did the "R" come from? They pronounce the PDA Clie name as "Click" or "Cliche!" Hey, a penny saved is a penny earned for the Clie!
TwistedTrack Posted June 26, 2005 Posted June 26, 2005 i thought it was shei-kruh too. lol a new post should be the most frequently mispronounced coaster names. then everyone could feel better that their not the only person that thought it was pronounced a different way.
FlyingScooter Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 LOL, and to think i thought it was like Sade's names: pronounced Shar-day. Sheikra: pronounced Bob. yeah, that works! mushrooms, anyone???
robbeal Posted July 2, 2005 Posted July 2, 2005 I've always had it down as 'Shaye-Kraarrrr' to be honest, but I do tend to overpronounce things!
pgathriller Posted July 3, 2005 Posted July 3, 2005 I always thought it was Sheeek rae until I heard it on tv.
