coasterdude5
Update Hey everybody I've got a bit of an update. Now that I know about when I will be returning to New Orleans to film the rest of the movie, I have a VERY TENTATIVE date in mind. Right now, it looks like Katrina will premier on July 31st. The premier party will take place on July 30th. I will be showing the movie to New Orleans residents during that week so I'm having to push the internet premier as far as I can. I'll have more updates soon.
TheHulk
How about "Wake me up when September ends" by Green Day? And this is a song more or so about hope, but I think it'd still work. "We believe" - Good Charlotte

coasterdude5
On Wednesday, I will return to New Orleans for two days to film the rest of Katrina. I am giving up my birthday trip to Six Flags St. Louis for this trip to New Orleans to film. I'm not looking for sympathy from this - I want you all to know how dedicated I am to making this the best film that I can possibly make. Even though I won't be riding any coasters this year, hopefully the response from this movie will be more of a gift than any coaster could ever be. I've learned alot about Hurricane Katrina and New Orleans over the past year that I've been working on this film. I've learned what New Orleans was before the storm, what it was really like during the storm, and what it will hopefully be in the future. New Orleans is an incredible city - I encourage you to go if you've never been before. I find that when I go to the city, I always leave with something. Not a physical object, but this feeling. The city gives off this feeling with the atmosphere, the food, the kind people, that you can't easily find in other cities. It's something very special and I hope you can all experience it sometime in your lifetime. The French Quarter alone is almost indescribable. There are so many things to see, foods to try, interesting people to watch. Yes, Katrina had a major impact on the city of New Orleans. I believe it was a test to see if the city could come back. And it has. Maybe not to 100% of what it was before the storm, but I believe it is a better city than before the storm hit. I think the storm can be seen in a positive way - it gave some people the chance to start over, it gave some people the initiative to lend a helping hand to their fellow neighbor. I believe it brought people closer together. I believe it brought people of the entire nation together to help. You can choose to focus on the FEMA, government, political side of Katrina, but that is not what I am choosing to do. You can look at this story of a people that came together to rebuild. Katrina is something that I've thought about doing for some time now. Not with RCT3, but as a real movie that would show Hurricane Katrina for what it really was - especially in the aftermath. I am happy and honored to be working with some great New Orleans citizens on this movie. It has been an incredible experience. I'd also like to thank the incredible support the forums (including this one) have given me. I know there have been a few rough spots along the way and I apologize. I hope you all enjoy the movie. reggieasplund
I really like what you've been doing with this Katrina video. I just got back from a missions trip in which we did some construction and demo in the sixth and ninth wards. It's shocking that still three years after the media left that city, there is so much work to be done. An average house we gutted. many homes looked like this, and many others were up for demolition. coasterdude5
^ I commend you for doing that. I've wanted to go there for a mission trip ever since the storm hit, but unfortunately I haven't been faced with an opportunity. www.katrina.coaster101.com If you intend on being at the premier party (for any amount of time) on Thursday, July 30th, please let me know. I will be using a different chat room program this time and I want to know roughly how many people will be there. It will last all day until midnight when the movie will premier. This isn't a "reservation" I just need some rough numbers. Thanks. CD5

DBru
I just watched Katrina, and it was an amazing movie! The music selection was perfect, and the photography/filming combined really gave the production *feeling*...I don't know how to describe it... It was a very emotional, and the way you captured it was brilliant. Thank you for sharing, and I'm looking forward to your future projects... dr.gumbo
Technically I thought your last movie was more impressive (can't remember the name for my life) but thats like comparing 'Independence Day' with 'World Trade Center'. As a film, I thought the intention was fantastic. However, I thought the pacing was tedious at best (eg. repetitive shots throughout) and at times, it felt emotionally dry. I wouldn't worry though, its a ridiculously hard feat to do on a video game because lets face it, all you can effectively do is eye-candy. As Dbru said, the music was fantastically chosen. It really set the mood for the film. I wouldn't call this film your best work, but certainly your most effective. My verdict Despite its short comings, Katrina offers a facinating journey into the events it name represents. 7/
coasterdude5
Katrina - Three Years Later In a matter of hours, it will have been three years since Hurricane Katrina made landfall. With the threat of another storm in the coming weeks, the feelings of Katrina are all-too familiar for gulf coast residents. Katrina changed this area forever. It takes about 30 years to fully come back from a storm like Katrina. It's only been 1/10th of that. The city is making great strides to return to what it once was, but the process is slow in some areas. Some areas of the city, as you could see in the movie, have not rebuilt. They sit lifeless and in some cases, untouched. I encourage you to take a mission trip to New Orleans or anywhere along the gulf coast if you have the opportunity to. Just rebuilding one house will make a huge difference for one family. one person. one soul. As New Orleans faces the threat of another hurricane, all we can do at this time is pray for the best... - Watch: Youtube: Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPnnXfW2xW8 Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s1Yy76qwdPU Part 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CdwE2LLiduQ Part 4: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exe1iYV42fA Part 5: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KfuwA4ZpFRM Part 6: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iemRQpkVI4k Part 7: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=82CqdLNk6wU Part 8: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCHorJvhUyY Part 9: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24xgJR7qCR0 Vimeo: - Download: Megaupload: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=DXOWV4ZI
