Edward Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 A usuall day at my local theme park is that I take a bottle of water with me and refill it at water fountains and pipes that come out from the ground and curve like taps (the water fountains here also have a tap just underneath). For food, I basically eat lunch, and hours later I get sick of the rides and head home for dinner. But I know how to get around the lunch expens... A packed lunch! Left over macaroni, morning cooked hot dogs, meatballs, bacon, etc.
coastercrazed49 Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Yeah bringing your own lunch and eat before you get in the park is definitely one of the best ways to save money, because for some snacks that should cost .75 cents to $1.00 the park will jack up the price to about $2.50 or even $3.00.

At SFNE, my closest park, there is security that checks your bag before you enter the park and I have heard from people that they don't let you bring your own food into the park. Is that true?

Unfortunately, that is true with SFNE and many other theme parks; they will not allow any outside food to pass within their gates. Some parks, such as Cedar point, do provide picnic area in which outside food is allowed, but it must not leave the picnic area. With such a rule in place, you are left with three choices: buy the food in the park, walk out to your vehicle to get something to eat, or go hungry.

Yeah we took food and ate in in our car, its just makes it easier then trying to find a place to eat in the park. Usually I do stop in the park though for a snack.

If you have a medical reason for food such as diabetes which I have your aloud to bring food in. I usually bring a small lunch from home. Like a pb&j, chips, and a water bottle with cool-aid. I buy a season pass and parking permit right away before the prices go up. Lastly I only bring a set amount and nothing more so I don't get enticed to spend more. Usually around $25 at the most is enough.
