spaceace12
One year later, anyone know of a discount for the lodge? I am actually going this time.
PKI Jizzman
I'm pretty sure my parents were able to bargain for a better price this year...and the prices are already lower than usual. The water park was freakin' fantastic, I loved it. The most I had to wait was 15 minutes for the Coaster. They've got: -Cannonbowl -Water Coaster (The LIM One) -4 enclosed tube slides -Raft slide -2 Smaller body slides, but don't skip them -Lilly Pad thing
larrygator
Moved to Main Forum as this can be better addressed by a member who may have stayed there versus Robb and Elissa.
angryemobeaver
Go when most people are eating lunch, the lines for the slides will be much shorter! And don't pass the raft slide, it's almost as good as the LIM one!
ginzo
See if you can request a room on the top floor. That way you won't hear a bunch of kids above you running around through the hallways doing the MagiQuest thing. The water coaster was a HUGE disappointment for me. I was very excited to ride my first Proslide Rocket, but it turned out to be very weak. It crawled through the uphill sections. Crush 'n Gusher at Typhoon Lagoon is 91023901230123120312093912309123012031920390123912x better. I need to get back down to SFKK to ride Deluge. Other than that, you really can't go wrong at Great Wolf. It's very nice for an indoor water park. The hotel itself is super nice. The basic family room is huge. You might look in to some restaurants outside of the lodge though. The food in the lodge is bland at best. There's a Culver's nearby if you're into that. spaceace12
Can you bring food in? If so, Jungle Jim's here I come. Well, going there anyway.
dandaman
^^ I'd be willing to stay at GWL just for Culver's.
taytig
I haven't been to the GWL in Mason - but Itake my family to the one in Niagara Falls 2 times a year. It is great! Food is expensive though. Eating outside of resorts like this is always a good idea if you are trying to save money. As for lines - they are dependent on occupancy. We went on Dec 23rd and the resort was less than half full. We literally didn't wait for anything! I hope you enjoy GWL as much as my family does!! ginzo
Can you bring food in? If so, Jungle Jim's here I come. Well, going there anyway. According to Expedia, GWL Mason features room fridges. Maybe you should call and confirm. I doubt they'll let you picnic in the water park, but you can do whatever you want in the room. And a trip to Jungle Jim's is always a good idea. disneygurlz2s
Hey Everybody.... I live here in Mason and have visited GWL twice on the invite of local friends who stayed there and included my daughter as "add ons" (we got wristbands at the cost of $20 each that are good for the waterpark only). Both times I visited it was during the summer months which means people where doing other things (ie, going over to Kings Island) during the day, so the water park did not start to get very crowded until later in the day. The rooms are nice and are intended to hold an entire family. There really isn't anything spectacular about them other than some of the more expensive/larger rooms have fireplaces, bunk beds, etc. The waterpark is a lot of fun. There's something for all age groups, and lines, as I said, tend to be shortest during the opening hours. There is a snack bar in the waterpark as well as a beverage only bar. No outside food or drinks are permitted inside the waterpark area (although we carried in some bagged snacks in our swim bags/backpacks). The main restaurant is a buffet, and it PRICEY for adults (20+) but very reasonable for kids. I thought the food was wonderful and on-par with a Disney buffet, although not necessarily as large. There's also a pizza hut and ice cream parlor, a breakfast shop, Starbucks, etc. There are plenty of nearby sit down and fast food restaurants in the area. Hope this information helps, Shari
spaceace12
I should have shopped around, If I had waited a week and went to Kalahari in Sandusky, it would have been 100 dollars cheaper and they have a flow rider. There is always next winter. I forgot Kalahari even existed since there was a GWL there.
WildStangAlex
^ Yeah not only does Kalahari have a flow rider, they have 2! Being that it is the biggest indoor waterpark in North America, there are so many things to do. Try to get there sometime for sure!
spaceace12
So I was going to put up photos, but something went ascew with the memory card and I lost all the pictures. Anyway, lets do a text part. The roller coaster slide....is down for the week. I should have went to the water park hotel in Indy if I had known it would be down. Fort Mackenzie: A multi level play area with two slides. Great for kids, okay for adults. River Canyon Run: A family raft ride. Fun, I like it. Crooked Creek: Lazy River, didn't do it, just your typical lazy river, but it interacts with the slide tower slides. Coyote Cannon: I believe this is the bowl slide. I guess it is the single raft, but this thing is fun and fast. Alberta Falls: I believe this is the series of three slides. They are fun and fast and have minut air time at times. The Hot Tubs: I really want a hot tub now. The Wave pool: I like it that they allow tubes in it, other than that, very weak waves. Over all: If the roller coaster slide was open, would have been worth the 190 dollars plus tax a night. Still worth atleast 100, but not full price as that slide is why I came. Still nice to get away. Even nicer is the 2007 Mazda 6 rental I have since my Malibu decided that something would go wrong. Automatic and a manual tranny. I have used the manual part a few times.
