lorddoonga
I have to be up close in person to see the first drop, its angle, height, etc etc to say if it will be a killer. I wonder if their coasters are smooth or bumpy?
Airtime&Gravity
Simply amazing, and this is one of the best looking coasters I've seen in a while. The first drop seems very similar to the Airplane Coaster at Rye, and the entire coaster has a very classic look to it. This is probably my most anticipated coaster of 07, and with each update, it keeps looking better and better.
lorddoonga
Sooooo much rain in Gulf Coast these days : ( Will it ever open ? .......
coasterphotos
If days like today keep happening...probably not. Pretty much rained all day, doesn't look like anything has changed on the Bullet since I was last there on Wed evening. No workers were onsite. lorddoonga
It will be a sad summer if these upper/lower level lows continue they way they are. There's always fall !!!!!!!!
almightyfire
I have seen it is person and the drop isnt as tall or brutal as it seems on film. It is a nice coaster but if u have been to Kings Island and have seen SOB you wont be impressed. It will be in Tillmans best interest to keep the tickets at a low price because it will draw a whole lot of new people that will end up spending money in one of his many businesses on the boardwalk. Kinda when u go to a casino and the drinks are free, you actually are paying for them by spending money on gambling.

In fact, just by looking at it, I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy it much more than SOB.
lorddoonga
I think Bullets first drop will give riders a little buzz but not near how the Texas Cyclone used to be. In any case, it should have several pockets of airtime that should be enjoyable.
thrillerman1
How much trackwork is left to do?
coasterphotos
As of this afternoon they were working on the turn near the Starbucks (above the new sign they just installed). There was still no track at the top of the lift or on the first drop. Hard to see beyond that what doesn't have steel on it. Â The second train is no longer in the lot, so I'm guessing it has now been placed on the ride as well. The plastic water jugs for testing were sitting on a pallet in the parking lot. Â Today was the first day in about a week where it didn't rain at all and forecast is looking better for the next week.

OldJJman
Thanks for the continued updates Jason! Â Question: what's the realistic drive time from Houston Hobby Int'l airport to the boardwalk area? Â I, like a few others, may just jaunt out there some Saturday night after work and fly home Sunday evening. So we need some kind of realistic time frame to work with. Â Thanks, Â Â JJ
ParkTrips
^ Jeff, I did the reverse drive last year (stopped at Kemah on my way back to the airport from Galveston) -- it took me about 45 mins with some decent traffic in the NASA area.

almightyfire
The drive from Houston Hobby to the Kemah Boardwalk is a straight shot down 45 south. It will take u approx 30 mins from the parking lot of the car rental to The Boardwalk. It is so easy to get there Stevie Wonder could find it. fmulder21
how is it a straight shot? 45 is 7/8 miles from the boardwalk. I drove from Nasa Road one and then turned on some FM road.(Not questioning, but if you know a better way to get there it would help me too.) coasterphotos
From Hobby the quickest way to get there is to take I-45 South to FM 518 (League City - Exit 23). Turn left on FM 518. At the split for FM 518 / FM 2094 continue going straight which will take you onto FM 2094. FM 2094 dead ends at SH 146. Turn left on SH 146, and then right at the first light...follow the signs to the boardwalk. Â From I-45 to Kemah it is about 8 miles. Â You can also take NASA 1 from I-45 to 146 and then take a right on 146 and you'll see the Boardwalk...but if you are coming from 45, 518 is quicker. coasterphotos
Track work continues... Â They were busy putting the steel on the first drop this afternoon after the area barely escaped getting soaked. There are scattered storms around the area but so far no rain in Kemah. If the weather holds for the rest of the day I was told that the track work should be finished up tonight and the ride should start testing later in the week after being inspected. Almost done! Steel is being placed on the first drop. Water jugs for testing. Ticket booth. According to the sign hanging next to it, Boardwalk Bullet is currently "closed for adjustments" Ride entrance

almightyfire
Ok straight shot is a figurative statement. You know what I meant. It is extremely easy to find from Hobby barely any turns.
