I really enjoy these! Great posts. The ones of just the track make for great desktop backgrounds. Is there a place where we can find them in higher resolution? The ones of the cars capture the emotions of the riders so well! Awesome pictures. What kind of camera and lenses do you use? It's gotta be a nice one to get such nice pictures! -
SFNE removing five rides this winter.....

Poor SWAT... it only wants to find a home... This is a really strange move. What happened to the balance? Shapiro and GM... explain yourselves! -

This ride is within a simple hour and ten minute drive from where I live. I smell road trip! I am so excited about this. Tilman Fertita smartly filled the glaring gap of thrills in the Houston-area. This ride will definitely bring in traffic. Yesssss!!! -

Two radio stations at the same time, that's interesting. 104.1 krbe used to actually broadcast live from AstroWorld several times during the summer season, but not anymore... And there used to be an actual radio station hosted in SFFT's western area, playing Country, but that closed down too. -
SFNE 4/15/06 - Or... NOTHING WORK'D
Jam3s replied to Canobie Fan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Amen. Sadly, that thing hissed and huffed and puffed so many times. I felt really bad for AW's maintence crew, but I knew they were up to it. I suppose SFNE's crew will have to adapt to SWAT, uh, Catapult's malfunctionings, just as AW's crew did. I probably rode in that raft while it was here at Houston... -
Wearing contact lenses on roller coasters
Jam3s replied to furubasadness's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've always worn contacts when I ride. It's nice to see what's going on around me (especially peripherally, if i'm paying attention). But be sure to remember to blink a lot. Your natural instinct is to keep your eyes open to take everything in, but your contacts will dry quickly reminding you to blink, especially at high speeds...But otherwise, you should be alright. -
Neverland. (ha. just kidding.) 'KidZone of America'.

It's not the AstroDome that's causing the problem. Er, caused. It's the newer Reliant Arena, where the Texas play. The Authority over the parking, fought legal battles over possession of the park. Essentially, they wanted more room for their VIPs... For futher information on the events that happened regarding the parking situation, visit: http://www.saveastroworld.com. It's one of few remaining Schwarzkopf Fly-Wheel Shuttle Roller Coasters. Man, that thing is a beast. (Beat me to it, Greg.)

Having AW as my home park, this really hits home very hard. It was the reason I joined ACE, the reason I began to fall in love with the amusement industry. AstroWorld always has been a haven for me; a place to kick back, forget about school, work, and basically life. Now, due to these recent, painful developments, it cuts my heart and tears apart my mind that this haven might turn into a gas station and convenience store. I must enjoy it while it remains open for all. This park has so many incredible memories just for me alone. If you think about the magnitude of the park's fans, the idea about how many memories this park has is mindblowing. The memories are and will be forever and infinitesimal. My tribute to a my home park.
