Well I am in High School. I make $8.20 an hour and work 30 hours a week. Although I do not pay bills like everyone else, my money tends to disappear quick. I am paying for the entire east coast trip on my own and all I can say is if you really really want to go you can come up with the money. you have a whole year to save up really. You just have to look for every possible chance to make money. The only way I'm going to make up the second part of the deposit by the time its due is through new hire bonuses so if anyone reading this lives in Orange County call me! Its $500 right now! Maybe you can like burn bootleg DVDs and sell them out of the trunk of your car? or do peoples home work, or steal their lap tops and sell them on Ebay!

P.S if any one can tell me how people QUIT THEIR JOBS to go on the trips and still were not homeless when they got back ?that would be fun to find out...

I guess I fall under this category. I returned from an active duty deployment to Afghanstan prior to going on the TPR Japan/Korea Trip. Didn't spend all the much money while I was there so I had plenty left over for the trip and to not work for a while. My re-enlistment bonus is paying for next year's TPR Europe Trip, so I'm doing good for paying for these trips.

Allison - I also quit my job for the East Coast trip - but I had another job lined up to begin directly after it. I had also saved up enough money to make sure that the rent and car payment got paid for September.

Bonuses will be paying for much of my trip this year - plus the ever present tax return.

Perhaps Nipsy Russell can offer us some words of wisdom... ::turns::

"If you owe too much on American Express

just take a loan on your Visa

and pay it off with your MasterCard!"

^^ OOPS! I quit my job before the Mid-West trip. Actually - I left work for the last time and left for the airport. I did have a job waiting for me upon my return (I started here August 15.)

I just send money in monthly to R&E for the next trip - and will make some bigger installments during the holidays and during tax time. Then - I'll get the plane ticket. After that, I start saving for Scandanavia '09.

You'll find that putting a little extra aside each month, and sending in monthly installments of $200 - $250 - and all of a sudden the next year's trip is paid for.

Good luck -

Unfortunately I can't afford to go on any of the '08 trips but I have started saving for '09. Anyone have any ideas on what the trips will be even though it's still very early? I have only heard rumors about the Scandinavia trip.

I know this was posted a long time ago, but I can relate to what a lot of people are going through here, as I have often wondered this same thing myself. I just finished my undergraduate studies and will be going into grad school, and boy do I have student loans! Added to the cost of fuel, cell phone, credit card, ect. It can get overwhelming. But I think it's your best bet to stay in college. A minimum wage job seems like a good bet right now, but I think it's worth it to finish your education and get the best job you can. Then, you can eventually reward yourself with a trip. I'm planning on doing it when I finish my masters. If you really can't wait maybe you can save for a mini trip? Remember: lots of people go through the "starving college student" phase, It's good for your character!

My only advice is: try not to crash your car against an SUV!

I've spent 3000€ to fix my car after I had an accident on my way to Europa Park last year. In March my parents told me that they had no money to give me for my East Coast Trip so I had to cancel. If I didn't have to pay for my car I could easily pay for the trip.

My name is Maverick Ashley and I am a Roller Coaster Enthusiast. I like going to Theme Parks with like minded people. I live near FuntownSplashtown, USA here in Saco, ME twenty minutes out by car. I'd like to be invited to trips to Theme Parks in The Portland Maine Area this Spring/Summer/Fall and pay a reasonable fee. If there is a bus going, I'd like to know about it and if there is someone going to Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, New Jersey or elsewhere let me know and I'd be more than happy to contribute to the trip and expenses so I can ride the coasters for 2014, etc.
